For what is worth, I can't complain about modern isekai, I enjoyed most of them, and even those average were...

Well, they were fine, entertaining enough.

That said, having read the anime announcement for Dekisokonai to Yobareta Moto Eiyū wa, Jikka Kara Tsuihōsareta node Suki Katte ni Ikiru Koto ni Shita, I was, like, "eh, so they are still making those?"

I general, I like the very idea of traveling to another world, and I don't want isekai to forever dissapear, but it kinda seems like the world is starting to get tired of it, and even big ones, like SAO, or Re: Zero are past their prime.

Nope, not even close.
Given how flexible and easy isekais are to make, they will churn out more and more of them.
And why shouldn't they if people keep buying them, basic market supply and demand 101.

"Are we nearing the end of isekai era?"

I don't think so.

Isekai will never end, nothing does. They just hit their peak, go down a bit and reach a saturation point.

Isekai is just junk food to be consumed in large amounts. Good, bad or average, I consume it nevertheless.

Hell no.. We've barely scratched the surface of the infinite possibilities the isekai genre holds..

Like it or not, isekai is here to stay. It will never go away given how easy and profitable it is. Weebs love their otaku wish fulfillment fantasies and idealistic escapism.

I do wonder what the next big trend will be, though. A change in pace would be welcome.

Works belonging to this genre are still popular and sell well. LNs, manga, anime, VNs... type of medium doesn't really matter. The situation of isekai stuff has been stable for quite a long time and I don't believe this trend might change anytime soon.

Only counting TVs we’ve had 16 Isekai come out and that’s only 2 seasons. More like they’re still money hungry

No. Like the moe era it's pretty long it seems with tons of series appearing and getting adapted more and more and more.

Trends lasting longer, tons of dumb and sometimes good ideas just happening in it. I hate 10 year trends and those that jump in an oh it gets extended.

Definitely not. I don't think the "era" of isekai will ever really end. The isekai genre will remain around for as long as light novel writers can come up with new ideas for it, and companies like Kadokawa can keep adapting those light novels into anime.

Also, it can't end before we get No Game No Life season 2.

I don't even think the problem is necessarily "isekai" in and of itself.

It's overly generic, low effort, cut and paste isekai.

Just in the recent months I was wondering "where is XYZ isekai", so there's definitely still (some) room for innovation, it's up to the authors to choose and to actually do it.
It can be done, if they really wanted and/or could do it, that is.

But on the other hand, I'm not a big fan of these repetitive isekai tropes, it gets olde REALLY fast.

Isekai is the archetypal narrative of battling the source of evil after your death and re-instantiation into corporal form. This is the cosmic imperative of most of the world's major religions so it is no surprise that it is so evoking to the collective unconscious.

No, I feel we still have several years of extremely gimmicky isekai anime before we reach maximum saturation.

As long it sells, it'll never end. At some point it'll stop selling when the new trend takes it's place, and it's most likely romcoms. Light Novels recently have been making a lot of those "Popular Girl x Average Boy" type.

Doesn't Matter to me, I don't have to be part of it..
There are lots of other anime coming out other than isekai which I will always watch and ignore isekai

Will isekai ever die out? No.

But will they star making less isekai in the future? Maybe.

you clearly haven't heard of mushoku tensei

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.
