What's the first time an anime you were watching unleashed the waterworks for you? What happened in the show to make you cry? Was it a death? Was it just a melancholic ending? Was there a real heartbreaking scene?

The first time i ever cried was at the end of Mai Vs. Marik.  I was 8 and this was at the time i started to realize that the hero will always win and the villain can only be beaten by the main hero. 8 Year old me knew Mai had no chance of winning. But it still got me with the torture she went through afterwards.
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

Probably Tanoshii Muumin Ikka and Digimon Tamers. The last episodes were really touching.

Oh god it has been soo long, im not sure anymore but it was probably Angel Beats or Clannad.

I am more inclined in thinking it is angel beats ( 1 season and less episodes meaning i watched it faster ), it was that scene from Yui's final moments with Hinata.
If it was ever Clannad, then it would have been either the scene of the Tomoya's life after Nagisa died or the scene where his daughter cried after losing her toy in the fields.

Naruto.( it’s just full of sad scenes) or probably plastic memories or Charlotte ( I don’t remember which one I watched first) but all of them made me cry or mourn . Literally I’ve never mourned for any human’s death earlier

I am not one to cry in anime. Except for Nico Robin. The whole backstory, always being cursed, alone. Villains and heroes hated her alike. She was backstabbed everywhere she went, even nice old ladies sold her out. She goes on to realize all her suffering was gonna end up fruitless, her research will be unsuccessful, and wanted to end it all. Shout out to seiyuu as well, she makes me cry like a bitch with her “I wanna live! take me to the ocean with you” line.

I know One Piece is full of sobstories but Robin hits different.

One piece
I don't particularly remember the scene though

But but but the first anime scene that actually made me sad was goku's & vegeta's sacrifices from dbz which I watched years before op. Didn't cry though

The end of Assassination Classroom I believe was the first one that made me tear up a bit. I've rewatched it since then and it had the same effect on me. It's always when it shifts to showing Karma's reaction that I lose it.
Is Blue Box my favorite manga? Not yet...Yes. Yes it is.

The only scene that brought me close to the point of crying was in Silent Voice where ishida is in the hospital and shouko falls to her knees and apologizes to his mom because she believed (or rather realized) it's because of her that ishida is the way he is and why all of their childhood relationships had changed for the worse.

I think for me it was Chrono Crusade. Despite alot of the show being filled with shonen style antics and fights that ending hit you right in the feels.

Galaxy Fraulein Yuna, when one of the characters died about half~3/4 the way in,
and they effectively carried the gravity of her loss straight on through the end credits...

(of course, it hardly helps that the girls in this 1990's OVA series are so dad-blasted Adorable♥
that you just want to hug and squeeze them to death like pets or something)

My first anime that ever got me to break out is The Adventures of Hutch the Honeybee. Hutch (The Honey Bee) finally getting to meet his mother The Queen made me cry at the end of the story. At the time, I was 7 years old. It was really heartwarming.

I don't full-on cry when watching anime, but I did get a little teary eyed when re-watching Elfen Lied in 2020. Lucy's last moments kinda get to me.
