| Well, I think the time has come for me to finally watch Demon Slayer. I'd put it off for a long time but now my younger sister has been telling me to watch it. So far I like the art and the setting. I've always liked historical shows (not like i'm expecting Demon Slayer to be very 'historical' but I like seeing stuff that at least doesn't take place in the present day), and this one seems like it will be fun. So I'm looking forward to what I'm expecting will be good animation and dumb, over the top shounen battles, ha. |
| This show is a lot more mature than I thought it'd be, and it's really well done. Tanjiro is smart and observant. I'm glad I finally gave it a chance after watching a couple episodes of Hell's Paradise which has two episodes out currently. How awful for our sweet protagonist that was such a pillar of his sweet family and community. After experiencing so much death in my own life, I can no longer handle the slaughtered family storyline. It's gut-wrenching every time I see it. Nothing can ever heal someone from loss like that. I love his new friend. He's really wise and has great advice. He saw potential in Tanjiro from the beginning. |

| Well, this was quite the introduction wasn't it? I guess that what you should expect with a episode titled "Cruelty" I have to say that the revelation that Tenjiro's family was all dead didn't come as a surprise, the death flags were all there, and the thing is also that this anime is so popular, that I knew only Tenjiro and Nezuko were the only ones alive. Not only that, back in 2019, I remember vaguely the plot of the anime. So, I couldn't go in blind like I did with, let's say, Chainsaw Man, so I might be a bit biased. Either way, the setting is for sure interesting, an adventure of a brother for a search to cure his demon sister, that's a new one for sure, and the way he's basically alone with her too makes you end up caring right way for the main character. I wonder why the townspeople wanted Tenjiro to help them carry stuff though, like, there are other young people in the town, why are you asking to the one that lives so far away? In reality this bothered me, because he ended up arriving late, and ending up sleeping in the house of the old man due to that. Maybe if he was with his family... The thing that is bothering me the most with this setting is that I just can't trust Nezuko now, and I have problems believing that the demon slayer just let Tenjiro go with his demon sister alone. Like, yeah, maybe she doesn't attack him, but she might as well attack strangers??? After watching Sousou no Frieren I have 0 compassion for Demons, but it is true that demons are always treated differently between animes. With that, the fight scene with the demon slayer was impressive, and the writing there was interesting, with how the demon slayer actually wanted him to react, and giving him a strong premise so that he could move foward, like if he was seeing himself in him maybe. I do have to say I was a bit disappointed with the animation, it was good, but I was expecting better than good, since I remember people talking about it in 2019 so much due to the good animation, but there were so many scenes where they used blatantly CGI to animate Tenjiro, and it's only the 1st episode, where they normally make their best animation. I also wonder why they decided to put the opening at the end of the episode, plus a credits roll, it seemed like I was watching the end of a movie, and while the episode was cinematic, it was of normal lenght, and there wasn't the need for 2 credit rolls. Overall, I'm curious to see how this anime goes. People's opinions on this are diverse, and I think I might be a bit biased watching this right after watching Sousou no Frieren, since that anime was so perfect, but some anime needed to be the next one. The thing I think will bother me the most is the whole trope of "People when they turn into demons lose their sense of humanity, but Nezuko is different!", because I don't think they will ever give a reason for this, and it's weird that it never happened before. Also, is Nezuko able to talk? Does she retain her memories? I guess I'll know in the next episode. |

| Why did nobody tell me this was a vampire anime?! I would've watched it soooo long ago if I'd known!!! 10/10 first episode. Really good mix of 2d and 3d animation. |
