I have bought artbooks for the original To Heart, Sentimental Graffiti (the basis for the Sentimental Journey anime), two for Natsuiro Kiseki, and two for the Atelier series of video games. Additionally, I've gotten artbooks included in premium/preorder special versions of various video games, including Trails of Cold Steel, Atelier Totori, Luminous Arc 2, the 3DS remake of Radiant Historia, among others. |

Well since gamestop, had it cheaper then one other gamestore i visited, i went with getting volume 1 of prinny presents and i'll play it maybe after i'm done with omori since by now i'm pretty much almost done with my bday backlog but, theres still lot more games to go as i really wanna make a thread based around the crystal novalis section of final fantasy and how epic versus 13 could have been so maybe ff13-2 and lightning returns. And yeah, the prinny presents games are pretty good and i love to see nis bringing back their old stuff especially rhapsody a musical adventure and hope a witches tale is next. |

I have a few Rin and Len Kagamine art books, which is basically just an art book collection from Pixiv users, and I have three IDOLiSH7 books! I love them with all of my heart! I wanna get the Tokyo Revenger ones as well, but I wouldn't even begin to think on where to buy or get them. I've also got the Kingdom Hearts Ultimanias, too, both of them (pre and post KH3), but that's a video game (anime video game, but still) so I dunno if that counts LOL. |

I love art books, but I don't have that many. I do intend to get more especially from the realm of anime/manga. Regarding anime/manga art books I only have ones for Tokyo Ghoul:Re Illustrations, The Art of Spirited Away, and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind Watercolor Impressions. (The last one is humorous cause Miyazaki has comments on all the works and he dislikes a lot of them.) For art books or art book adjacent I own Snowpiercer: The Art and Making of the Film, The Rise of the Dragon: An Illustrated History of the Targaryen Dynasty Vol. 1, Star Wars: The Ultimate Visual Guide (2005). The last two have a lot of words, but Rise of the Dragon has a lot of excellent art and the Star Wars one has a lot of concept art and various art from across the franchise. |

I LOVE ART BOOKS. Thanks for the tag, @Crow_Black! Oh, where to start. I own:
I've been considering purchasing The Art of Vampire Knight: Matsuri Hino Illustrations because it's quite reasonably priced at my bookstore, and I've been desperately trying to track down an affordable listing for Utako Yukihiro Illustration Book "GOING2009-2021" on eBay. But no luck so far. 😅 |

I actually bought this art book myself before I read any part of the series... didn't know there was an English version that also could be found for a lot less than what I paid for the Japanese version at Kinokuniya, but oh well lol. I just liked Jun Mochizuki's work when I read a bit of The Case Study of Vanitas, so I did buy it on the basis of seeing more of her artwork. I do plan to read the actual manga sometime though! Would've been nice to collect too, but obviously, that might not really happen as Yen Press's print (either the standard print or their special 2-in-1 omnibus edition that notoriously goes for a shitton on sites like eBay) is out of print. |

I have Futurelog by Range Murata, and when I got sick I decided to order Futurerhythm which I'm still waiting to arrive. Got it for a great price too. I love Murata's character design ideas (not all of them though) I wish the book had more of his well known characters like Lavie from Last Exile. It has a few short comics in it, my favorite is one about a girl meeting with her crush during a school field trip to an observatory. It's a precious story. FBI-chan would be interested to know what else I have but that's all for today. |

It can go from the most intricate scenario like Howl's bedroom to something as simple as that rustic little house on an island seen during Chihiro's train ride. Literally, almost every frame is a painting with Studio Ghibli, especially in Miyazaki's films. The Japanese believe (and so do I) that you imbue a part of yourself in what you create. I'm sure Miyazaki feels the same with his creations and I think that is partially why he is arguably the best animator of all time. One of my best friends gave me recently this amazing retrospective book on Miyazaki's film art published by the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures (this one below). Could you recommend any other books of this sort? Btw, my top 3 Studio Ghibli movies are 1) Princess Mononoke; 2) Spirited Away; 3) Howl's Moving Castle 😍😍😍I love anime and manga art books! Alcoholicide said: I'm more into collecting anime ad manga series (and comics and books) than artbooks. The only thing similar to an artbook that I have isn't manga related - it's H.R. Gigers Necronomicon I & II. It's great, but it cost me 100 bucks and I could have bought like 12 volumes of manga with that money :>. In any case, here are some recent photographs of my collection of non-artbooks if somebody cares. I tried to do it with as few photos as possible so there aren't any close-ups: Left is Western comics and Vagabond, Right are my Tezuka, Tanigushi & Asano collections as well as other manga series. Various more manga series ranging from Banana Fish to Lone Wolf and Cub. Also while you can't see it, there is a second row on every shelf behind the first one, that's all my disney paperbacks from when I was a kid. Left has my anime collection and a few other DVDs. Right has Dragon Ball, Punpun, Gundam Origin and various other manga and western comics. This is not anime related, it's just the bulk of my literature collection (fantasy and sci-fi to the right, misc. literature to the right), but I thought I'd include it for good measure. I just want to say: WOW! You have the most amazing library! 🤩🤩🤩 Kenshin, Berserk, One Piece, and it just goes on and on...Truly impressive |

Apparently, Hayao Miyazaki is making the film for his grandson which is just adorable! Have you had the chance to read it? I highly recomend it, it's like the Japanese The Little Prince. The book comes with a foreword by Neil Gaiman and in it he writes " Miyazaki makes films for whole people and makes films about consequences. When I worked on the English-language script of his film Princess Mononoke, I was astonished when I finally realized that everything in the film was about consequences of acts and actions: seemingly unrelated events are actually the consequences of other events or actions, and everyone in the film is acting according to what they believe to be their best interests without realising that what they do affects everyone else."Mercury-Lamp said: Even their lower budget works like ocean waves still has some really lovely animation that still holds up well to this day and its said to be from the younger newer employees too. They give you tonnes of info on the creative process behind any title, what with them detailing all visual aspects of it, from something as simple as a character's outfit to whole sceneries and indoor spaces. I reckon Studio Ghibli art books are the ones I like most, cause well, Studio Ghibli is my favourite thing of anime of all time. I love the detail in Ghibli films, it's really worth pausing and perusing each different location in each film, the many objects decorating each room, shop and any indoor space, the design of the furniture, everything! The Ghibli animators are masters when it comes to decorating a room with the nicest-looking things. As for any other titles or even franchises, I have some slight interest in getting art books for some of my favourite titles, but eh, it's not really something that I feel too strongly about so I can't be bothered getting them. |

Addition. I think I still have some artbooks if I look for them... Saite Uchiho BL Art Works: As the Merciless King Wills (Recently bought) I put it on my bookshelf as a pamphlet and a book of illustrations because it has many illustrations. TYPE-MOON Fes. 10th Anniversary event official pamphlet Limited edition with manga artbook Skip Beat vol. 48 Fullmetal Alchemist vol. 27 Neon Genesis Evangelion, volume 13 Items borrowed from the library yesterday Leiji Matsumoto art book Black Jack art book There were also some Studio Ghibli related art books in the library, but reading the text is kind of tedious, so I passed on them this time. I prefer to read Studio Ghibli related books that have interviews with the directors and so on. |

In relation to FATE, I still don't understand the value of original art books and pamphlets.... I have already returned the Leiji Matsumoto art book to the library because it was close to the due date. It's an art book of heroines, or rather female protagonists, and it had an interview about the story of Mater's female model. |

The only thing Type Moon licensed for much of its history is its anime. Major gaming breakthroughs include Fate/Extra in 2011 (but not CCC), Melty Blood in 2016, and Fate/Grand Order in 2017. Witch on the Holy Night recently became their 1st visual novel to get an official English translation. We have yet to get any light novels.I had an image that they were expanding overseas... |
