In my opinion,
The best thing about horimiya is that it doesn't take frickin 3 seasons just for the main couple to confess.
Other romcom animes literally take the whole season and then the main character finally realizes about his true feelings.
In this way, Horimiya was really refreshing and new.
It didn't feel dragged in any way.
Tell me if you guys agree with me.
Even if you don't agree with me, it's fine.

At least for me, it was.
Unlike other romcom animes it actually had romance.
And it has 13 episodes to be exact.
Sometimes small animes feels better.

There was no unnecessary drama. The story isn't messed up with exaggerated love polygons and simp charecters.

You should try Tonikawa and Wotakoi too. They are as refreshing as this one imo.

Might be a hot take but I just did not like this anime at all the fact that the main guy only gets noticed after she thinks he is hot breaks the show for me i also cringe alot at the romance moments the only cool guy in the show was the green hair elder brother.

You can watch Tsuki Ga Kirei too. It's my favourite in Romance, and it's another anime in which the couple gets together early on.

i really loved it to be honest, it didn’t really have typical moments in romcoms where u want to like kick the mc for throwing away a golden opportunity or smth. It’s more of like a comfortable romcom which like takes you away from your lonely reality and makes you think that maybe, just maybe u might get lucky irl. Overall i think it’s a decent anime, not on the same tier as kaguya or fruits baskets of course because it doesn’t have as much development that can be seen, but it’s a very good comfort choice. It’s something like the kfc of anime, not on the level of michelin levels of food, but good enough that i want more every time

i see what you mean about the protagonist and love interest taking 1 or 2 seasons to get together. thing is it’s not like that the 20 episodes before they confess is used for the characters getting closer it’s just a bunch of dumb shit thats beside the point. like in the 1st season of a generic romcom the final episode will probably be some festival of sorts where the two main characters are just about showing interest in each other and then nothing happens. most of the episodes before that were probably about the main character’s friend having a crush or some bullshit

What I said was about Horimiya and the comparison was based on OP's arguments.

Ofcourse he is. But he wasn't always whining and fantasizing like Taiga(Toradora) or Kazuya(Kanokari). And he had comparatively more charecter than Izumi(Shikimori) who seemed to be like a npc and more bearable than Romio(Highschool Juliet). I will say Nasa is just on the edge.

it's not like they utilize those 20 episodes properly before the confession.
most of the time they will just drag the show by showing a lot of friendship bullshit.

I haven't read the LN and also think it was rushed. Sometimes it felt dragged in the second half. But that might be because it was so rushed that main plots felt like side plots making viewers not care about them.

Edit: I meant it felt not rushed. Don't know how I messed it up so bad.

I didn't dislike this show but it's not the best romance anime for me. And as someone who has watched A LOT of romance animes, it's not the best nor the most realistic. Nana can take most realistic (imo), Fruits Basket, Wotakoi, ReLife, Ao Haru Ride, Orange, are all ones that are so much better. Even if it takes 2+ seasons for the characters to get together, a slow burn can be so good.

First of all, nobody is saying it's the best romcom anime.
I am just appreciating this anime because of it's bold move.
If an anime takes a lot of time to make the couple confess, it's ok.
But it has to be justified.
Most of the time what happens is that,
they just drag the anime by showing friendship bullshits or something like that. They don't actually utilize those extra episodes to develop the relationship between main couple. Even if it does, it's really slow most of the time.

The animes you mentioned might not have these problems but most romcom animes do...
That's why i was bashing about it so much.

As for Kaguya sama, great anime that's for sure.
but i still think it's dragged more than necessary. Even the second season had more than enough development for them to confess. But i guess Kaguya sama is an anime which is supposed to be dragged out.

Among all of the ones I mentioned Takagi-san is the one which is most argued upon, whether its good or not. The first season was probably the weakest season, and there is real development in season 2 and 3. If you didn't like tge first one at all, maybe don't watch the later ones too, because even though there are more events other than just games in the later seasons, there is a lot of the same stuff as season 1.

Hyouka is also very slow. its main plot isn't really romance or comedy. Its much more a SoL about a club solving small mysteries in a their highschool. its awsome at that aspect but don't expect pretty much any rom-com. It is there but its just a side-plot.

If you like character development, I can't say there's an anime with more character development than Oregairu. And its one of the only animes where it totally makes sense why it took so long for the confession. Really recommend it.

Clannad is just very very good. especially Clannad After story. (after story is the life of the characters after the events of clannad. Its a series where a lot of things happen at a very good pace, and its better than Clannad). Really recommend this one too.

Yes you are right this romcom Anime is not so good.
THATS WHY I READ ITS MANGA WHICH IS โค๏ธโœจ(Words can't even express it)
Must read, Horimiya Anime is just like the tip of iceberg, Many characters are left unattended unlike in Manga where every character have there own part to play, Anime only Focus on Hori-San And Miyamora.
