I'm going to first say that I am not bashing the reboot or anime at all. I loved this anime as a child and was happy to see a reboot coming so I could watch an feel nostalgic. The characters are just as cute as I remember and I still love Kish just like I used to but.....I really cant keep interest in magical girl anime anymore. Im not old per say but watching this in elementary def feels different from watching in your mid 20s. There are plenty of adults out there who love magical girl anime and I fully respect that bc you are never to old to enjoy anything in this world, but I feel like ive grown out of it . Same goes for when I tried to recently watch Card Captor Sakura clear card recently, I just couldn't do it. Am I the only one?

@aka_mini96 you're not the only one.

Being older definitely makes you more nostalgic to watch the original series, and vice versa if we actually knew in our young days.

To be fair, Tokyo Mew Mew is not a top tier mahou shoujo series. I love the genre, I've watched and still watch a lot of it but TMM's strongest factor for me is the nostalgia and the impact it had on me in my early teens. I'm enjoying this reboot but I don't think it's particularly good or anything, it just gives me good feelings due to the reason I've said. Overall TMM manga is better than both of the anime versions imo, but it's still not one of the best mahou shoujo animanga I've watched or read.

I doubt you're the only one, a lot of people have a hard time enjoying what they did as children with the same enthusiasm.

I can't relate though, I'm a depressed adult now and gobble shows like these up like ice cream, they give me so much serotonin hahahaha!

It also helps that the manga was never very good, and the new adaptation improves on a lot of things I had an issue with as a kid, so the new show feels fresh and exciting~
The 2002 Tokyo Mew Mew adaptation is not as great as you remember it being.

I love both the old and the new one tbh. then again the older one is probably gonna be harder to find on home media unless you want to pay an arm and a leg due to it being oop

It's actually the opposite for me.

I used to think magical girls were for girls when I was a kid and refused to watch them except for Mew Mew Power (not sure why to be honest) but now I'm older, I can't stop watching every magical girl anime I can find lol.

Meh try the manga then. There's enough changed where I'd say trying the manga is worth while and it may be something that appeals to you more.

No dude you're not, as I was watching it, I was thinking to myself "okay, when am I dropping this". I was confident I would give it at most three episodes and bow out. But somehow I got through and finished it. It wasn't easy, but I'm proud of myself.
