Merry Christmas, Ashley! ^^
I wish you all the best for the coming year and the peace of the child in the manger!
Gooseflower Feb 15, 2022 7:58 AM
Hey, Ashley! How are you doing?

I'm taking the opportunity of informing you I changed my username (the old one was so long and I didn't like it anymore - keep calling me Autumn or call me Daisy, whichever you like better xD) to catch up after my little "break"!

Have you been watching anything interesting? :D

I haven't really noticed a lot of change in anything recently, so the restrictions are... normal? I guess... if that makes sense xD
How are the covid restrictions in Britain? :o

I've probably been watching too much anime to be honest, I've sort of had to take a break for days now ^^"
I know nothing about videogames, but I hope you're enjoying yourself ^^ (I guess that's kinda the point, but still :P)

Merry Christmas, Ashley!! :D

It's been a while since we last talked, I hope you've been doing well ^^

Okay, thank you! I'll be thinking about what to do, then. But I'm definitely gonna watch Rei before Gou and Sotsu.

Oh, I love the Games Club and the fun and games slice of life snippets in the original series! ^^ These moments represent and remind us of the peace we're trying to preserve, they're the very thing that's at stake in each arc, their protection is what Higurashi is all about in the first place! :) I'm not worried about a lack of plot, Kai ended conclusively, any more plot would just ruin that...

Thanks a bunch! :D

Hey ^^ What are you up to? How are you doing?

I'm curious as to what your thoughts on Higurashi Gou and Sotsu are, now that they're over (without spoilers)!
I occasionally heard that it wouldn't be a bad idea to read Umineko before starting the new Higurashi seasons, what's your opinion on that? :)

Also, I think I'm going to start Higurashi Rei soon! Curious to see what it has to offer ^^

Come on, don't you think "dumbing down" is a bit uncharitable? xD American kids aren't going to get Japanese cultural references! No, but seriously, I have heard about what 4kids' whole ordeal was, and I wouldn't watch a 4kids dub these days.

Just looked it up and it doesn't have a German dub, either, so I guess that only leaves the Japanese audio! :)

I can see that it has hella filler, with 52 episodes compared to the 32 chapters of the manga xD But I'm nonetheless pretty excited if you say that the art style was very good for the time, so I'd love to watch the original series first.

From what they wrote in the forums, it seems to be a reboot, but we can't be sure, you're right about that.

Hey ^^ How are you doing?

When I first saw the Tokyo Mew Mew remake, I somehow became really interested in that franchise ^-^' For some reason I'm often drawn to older series that I sometimes wish would have shaped my childhood if I were a bit older. (Does that make sense? I'm sure it doesn't ^-^')

I'm a bit confused, since you added Tokyo Mew Mew New, but apparently didn't like the manga and the old anime a lot. What can I expect from Tokyo Mew Mew?
Gooseflower Aug 19, 2021 11:21 AM
Oh, okay then. But I probably don't need to ask if it's good either way :P

Yes, it looks absolutely mad! I hope to get to it someday... but it's so long xD
Gooseflower Aug 19, 2021 11:07 AM
Yeah, I just saw it, too xD I literally don't care what happens now.
Then you've seen Gintama? I probably don't need to ask if it's good.

Understandable, it is a great commitment, after all. But I think it is totally worth it!

Yes, I'm not a fan of what isekai has become, either ^-^' But I'm more overwhelmed by sheer amount that we have today, it's mindboggling. Each new season, every other show is isekai... I'm tired of it. I've also enjoyed Re:Zero so far (though I haven't seen the latest cour yet), I think it's a fairly good show. Another isekai title I've enjoyed even more than Re:Zero is Log Horizon, it's set on the world of a 3rd-person RPG (as opposed to actually being set in a virtual reality like SAO), and it deals with politics and economics, yay.

I'm watching a ton of shows at the moment! I'm on semester break right now, so I have more time to spare. From the summer season, my favourites are Sonny Boy (it has some slick direction tricks, a unique art style and the BEST song of the season), Kageki Shoujo (which is theatre-themed, can deal with some heavy topics and is definitely the most underwatched show of the season), and Aquatope (which just exudes P.A. Works magic and is my favourite of the season at the moment) :)

I've also picked up a few (older) shows for binging, in particular some older CLAMP works like Cardcaptor Sakura and Magic Knight Rayearth. The latter is fine so far, but Cardcaptor Sakura is so charming, I really love it. (And in both cases, the 90s cel animation is absolutely stunning.)

My two favourite shows I'm watching at the moment are Mushishi and Monster, though. They're sure to be in my top 10 once I'm done with them! Mushishi has mesmerizing animation for a show from 2005 and can make you feel so many different emotions because each episode is different. And I think Monster is just one of the most well-crafted stories period. It has a thrilling main plot, but is slow-paced, which at times makes it feel like a slice-of-life and makes time to really flesh out and give respect to even minor characters. I really love it :D

What about the other shows you're watching? :) (I saw Kino's Journey there, I really want to check that out at some point, though particularly the old version.)

Hey ^‿^ Just checking on you! How are you doing?

Apparently enjoying Beastars and Re:Zero! Are you liking them well so far?
Gooseflower Jul 3, 2021 11:03 AM
Yes, I am aware! An amazing feat! Although I have to give him a little bit of credit on his drawings. The artstyle looks atrocious, but it looks very consistently atrocious!

Thanks for your suggestion regarding Umineko, I'll be thinking about it :)
