I don't think it makes people more introverted but I do think it appeals to introverts

It's up to your mindset on whether or not you prioritize socializing or indulging in your favorite hobbies. It requires balance. But during the pandemic, we had no choice.

Not really. I've always been an ambivert and anime hasn't changed any aspect of that.

YES. I used to talk a pretty good amount and was pretty outgoing. Now I stay at home and watch anime and play gacha games on a daily basis. I literally couldn't talk properly to other people after I became too introverted when I went back to school from lockdown.

I've always been an introvert, which led me to start watching anime, which led me to be more open to socializing with friends who also like anime

Not really. I don't think I'm an introvert in the first place, rather an ambivert. I've often been called an introvert by very outgoing people but at the same time I've also been called a massive extrovert by some of my more shy, and self-proclaimed, introverted friends.

I was an introvert in high school but after going to University, I became an extrovert. You won't be able to survive in a university, managing your degree as well as your job while being socially awkward so don't worry if you don't have much social skills right now. As you will manage more and more stuff in life you will see your social anxiety slowly fading away. I have been an anime watcher my entire life and I don't think anime had any effect in my personality whatsoever.

From my experience most anime fans aren't even the "typical" introverts to begin with. I've been to a con the last weekend and most people there love to get to know new people.
The stereotype isn't true at all for most people. It's especially not true for cosplayers.

That being said... being introverted doesn't mean you are avoiding contact with people or you are scared of social interactions.
It means you need more time to recharge from social interactions.

Same.
And I need more time to recharge, when I've been more outgoing for a few days in a row.

Watching anime does make anyone introverted. People become introverted through their experience talking to people not yielding the feedback they desire. Kind of like a rat conditioned into a behavior by the prospect of cheese.

People don't become introverted, they are born like that.
It refers to how much of social input your brain can take without getting drained, until you need alone time to recharge.

Introversion and extroversion are inherent traits in people. Your actions don't have an effect on it. It's actually more the other way around, people who are already introverts typically tend to have hobbies that don't require socialising, like watching anime.

Quite the opposite actually. I had a full fledged communication disorder before I started watching anime. I started watching anime during 2020. In the span of nearly two years, I have gotten a lot better at communication. Now I am simply socially awkward and anxious and can hold a conversation when I have to. Watching those characters interact with each other helped me I guess.

People are not born introverted. Their appearance (mostly genetic) determines their treatment from others. Such output from others can cause introversion. How humans perform socially is relative to their experience. Correlation is not causation.

Poor social experiences can make you antisocial or shy, but it doesn't make you introverted. That's not what introversion is. If someone is introverted it is by natural preference, not because they fear rejection or are otherwise shy.

Words have definitions.

I've always been an introvert since I can remember and sometimes anime makes me wish I was not and sometimes like motivates me to go out and do things but well it's all just thoughts at the end of the day and I just end up being the introvert just wishing in my mind I was a cool extrovert.

Though if you watch too many animes continously that means you are not going outside more, talking to people less so it seems like you have lost the ability to communicate properly and be comfortable around other people like the way you used to. It's ok and eventually you will get over it. I have these moments every few weekend where I'm cooped up in my room for 2 days not talking to anybody just continously binging anime and then monday morning first class it's like I've forgotten how to interact with other people, how to be around people, where to look and stuff but eventually everything settles down and I'm back to being normal in a few hours.

I've been a loner my whole life but not because of anime. Mostly because i was never properly socialized as a kid.
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

Not really ... or both is the case, but I learned in university that there are genetic factors too.

People just confuse introversion with being antisozial and extroversion with being social too often.
None of that is the case. It's just about the time you need for yourself after social interactions and if you can get energy out of bigger social gatherings, or if they feel rather draining to you.

And appearance is not everything, you know.

I've always been an introvert. I'm not the type that's interested in large gatherings of people. Especially ones that I don't know that well. The only thing that gets in the way of me hanging out with people these days are issues with transportation and concerns with Covid. But watching anime can't make a person introverted. That's just something you chose to spend your time with over socializing with people.

Nope. That was a natural progression due to things I'd rather not get into on here. Watching anime was just a symptom of that, for lack of a better term.

Gee, i wonder if anime made me an introvert or i love anime because i was already an introvert..

If i was living in a cooler city like new york or london or Melbourne, i certainly wouldn't be watching anime all day...
I would be out and about always...

So i guess it was circumstances and environment that made me like this.

People scared of silence made me that way. I've realized that people fear silence for some reason so they start to talk mumbo jumbo that doesn't make sense or a small talk. Both is annoying, that's why I usually first wait for what they've got on their mind or start the conversation myself. Don't see how can anime make you introvert, it rather fuels your escapism if you are antisocial or starting to be, that's different thing tho.

I was always an introvert, if anything watching anime made me more extroverted. I voluntarily seek out crowds now, they still tire me but I at least don't refuse to go somewhere because it's crowded.
That's progress at least.

Anime never made me a introvert, I've always been an extrovert.

Growing up I was one of weird ones in my circle of friends, I wasn't the spaz of the group, that "honor" was bestowed to my dear friend Teddy) btw he is still the spaz of the group ROFL)but I sure was weird, I was way too extrovert and at the same time I was into sci-fi (og Dr Who, Star Trek, both TOS and TNG, D&D "Cartoons" etc).

Even today I am still way too extrovert and anime never affected me in any shape or form, who are born either an introvert or a extrovert who are not made into one.

Made me more out-going tbh (outgoing specifically, not necessarily extroverted, I still do enjoy being alone sometimes). Lockdown got me into anime, anime and no social interaction obviously caused my social life to decrease in terms of importance in my daily life, and due to that I started caring less what other people would think if I just did what popped up in my mind. Talking about anime on insta to people I'd never met probably also helped

No, I've always been an introvert. What attracted me to anime was more just personal taste. I have always gravitated towards the art and story telling style of Japanese media since I was younger. Growing up with Japanese video games, and whatever anime was localized at the time.

This ground is soiled by those before me and their lies. I dare not look up for on me I feel their eyes
