no hate to anyone that likes this show! everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

i watched march comes in like a lion back in march (haha) and honestly, i thought it was quite boring. to me, it felt like nothing really happened, and i didn't really feel like there was a consistent plot. things just occurred, if that makes sense.

i constantly see people comparing it to your lie in april, which kind of pisses me off lol. your lie in april is a god-tier masterpiece in my opinion and will always hold a special place in my heart. however, i just don't think it's fair to compare it to march comes in like a lion because i personally feel it's nowhere near in the same league as your lie in april. maybe it's because i'm still fairly new to anime that i don't see the hype? i've watched like 50-ish anime.

anyway does anyone feel the same way? i feel like I'm the only one

This show not for everybody.
There is no high octane action here.
It is very character driven story and is quite slow paced at times.

well I agree with that they shouldn’t be compared since I think march comes in like a lion is god-tier compared to your lie in april, and that’s my opinion. so really, it all comes down to each individual.

may I ask what you were trying to get out of writing this forum?

Some people like things and some people don’t like things see how you like your lie in April well the next person could of hated it and thought it was the worst show they ever watched it’s just a matter of preference no point of thinking to hard about it

It’s just not your thing and that’s ok. YLIA is my #3 but there are similarities to this and that. This anime has one of my favorite scenes in all of anime, so I think it’s pretty good.

Your lie in april is just alright whilst march comes in like a lion is a masterpiece don't mix them up or even Compare them I guess you just don't or can't understand such a well written story. In fact it's more like your lie in april doesn't live up to the hype honestly such a bad take.

I rated both seasons 8/10 but I can understand why someone might find the show boring. I did too sometimes. Pretty much every episode not relating to the kawamoto sisters and/or Kyouko was pretty dull. The shogi tournament at the end of s1 was a real snooze fest and s2 stopped being good when it started focusing on some old man and his stomach problems.

Nothing irks me more than people saying they don't like a highly rated show because "nothing happened". Whether you like it or not, something(s) definitely happened in the anime that was able to spark the show's popularity so it wouldn't be as successful as it is if nothing happened.

You start your post with "everyone is entitled to their opinion" but you go on to bash March comes in like a lion to praise Your lie in April. Make that make sense. Why can't both series be compared in terms of quality? Very comparable characters, dealing with similar issues, in an equivalent setting. Both anime can be gutwrenchingly painful at times but give you that wholesomeness you crave. I enjoyed them both but I enjoyed San gatsu just a tad bit more. See how I praised both anime without feeling the need to criticize the other?

relating to or supporting the view that a society or system should be led by an elite.

"older men with an elitist attitude about music"

Alternatively

a person who believes that a society or system should be led by an elite.

"critics portray him as an out-of-touch elitist"

Your use of the word is wrong because a person's view of what is and isn't 'Elite' is subjective, especially in the context of a medium like Animanga.

Your Lie is a fine anime/manga that many praise for having great music (in the anime) and poignant dynamics (in both), but many dislike it because of how overly melodramatic and forced it can off as.

On the other hand, March is praised for having a more grounded and real approach to a person's state of mind, and relationships, however, for many it's paced too slowly and it's too 'out there' to grasp.

OP isn't wrong for thinking Your Lie is better than March, but they're in a March forum asking 'who else doesn't get why people hold it in such high regard'. Conversely the guy you replied to isn't wrong for having an opposing opinion; you on the other hand ARE wrong because you definitely give off the impression of an elitist, according the the definition above.

If it isn't too much to ask, if you're going to be a dick on the internet, maybe know what you're actually talking about lol.

Listen its all just anime. its perfectly okay to think one is garbage and the other isnt.

Because Its all subjective and most importantly, their negativity nor anyone else's can take away from YOUR enjoyment of the show.

Let's all remember that, and not be so up our own butts about our anime opinions. Its all in good fun, right?

That being said, i personally feel like Your Lie in April doesn't compare to 3-Gatsu in terms of quality. I actually laughed a little at Your Lie In April because it felt silly to me. (If you love it. Im glad you got joy out of it. Keep being you :D)

I think the appeal of 3-gatsu is in its unique approach to the art direction, and the usage of color. It's not the ONLY character study in Anime, but it stands as a unique because of those aforementioned elements. It's definiely slower paced compared to what we are used to on anime, so I get why it isnt for everyone.

Personally I love the slow and steady pacing.

There's nothing wrong with having an opinion, but I don't see how something as average, basic and flawed as YLIA even begins to compare with March Comes in Like A Lion. Still, whatever floats your boat, dude.

If you are 15 year old spoiled brat, you must have tried to watch this show in one shot, I have completed this show in a week, This show is not for kids, If you ever have gone through depression and anxiety issues which is shown in this show...
you can't relate and you must connect with the characters not like shonen anime ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ˜’you can compare it with any average show.....

I think the fact that I went in only knowing the synopsis is part of what made me fall in love with the show. It's because of all the hype and strong opinions that I never look at reviews or discussions about a new series I'm interested in. I have a feeling that if someone had hyped it up and kept recommending it to me, I probably wouldn't have even finished the first season.
I was also looking for something chill to watch while drawing so it worked out pretty well for me in that aspect too, hehe

I mean, Sangatsu doesn’t really have a specific plot line. It is a drama, but it’s also slice of life for sure. If you need a clear plot line to get invested then Your Lie in April would probably be better.

But please don’t say things aren’t happening lol. Stuff happens. You just happen to not find it interesting.

I’d say I can see why it won’t be an anime that interests everyone. I love animes that make me feel emotional etc so this anime I did quite like. For me I think the only thing was that it felt like it dragged a bit and was a bit of a slow burner. Which again is something that isn’t a personal preference of mine. Basically I feel it’s probably an anime that’s tailored to a specific audience watch type.

This show takes a different look to the Slice of Life genre. Rather than the usual comedy, they look at a more dramatic side of life, but in a very realistic perspective, not your default melodrama. And that's why this show excels and hit home for many of the audience, especially those young adults who may relate more to the topics of the story.

It's very mundane, but it really depicts how someone heals from depression and emptiness through connection. How life can be meaningful even without an established goal.

It's not a fun series at all. It's not even too sad or hard. It's just relatable in many ways. I love how the characters actually behave like humans rather than caricatures.

I can really understand why someone would not enjoy it, so I'm very selective when recommending this show. I'd even say, in a way, this is almost a niche anime/manga. I'd not say this is a hyped anime, nor that's a hidden gem. It's just a show that can tell its message beautifully, so those who watched it entirely probably got this feedback and rated it accordingly as a 8+ anime, which is just.

Sangatsu is one of my favorite anime of all time, meanwhile ylia is one of the most offensively bad anime I've ever seen. The former being a directorial masterpiece dense with so much nuance in it's characters and themes, and the latter being nothing but manipulative cryporn for teenagers.

I personally found the show to be painfully boring, to the point of it being completely unwatchable. However, that's not what I like the least about the show.

The worst thing about the show, by far, is a portion of its fan base. The people reply8ng to anyone not really enjoying the show with "sorry it doesn't have explosions and boonies in it", "this show is for adults, not children", or "that's just because you don't know how to appreciate a good show". These people are completely insufferable.

The show isn't even as high-concept as these people seem to think that it is. There are plenty of slow burn shows that don't have their most common critique being "literally nothing significant has ever happened once in this entire show, and I'm xx episodes in". The medium of storytelling as a whole requires certain things out of any story. However, this show is the anime equivalent of listening to someone ramble about their day for hours on end. There's no plot, at least not one that reveals itself within a sane amount of time to keep following a show. The "drama" in this show is not that deep.

This particular group of fans usually thinks that anything with half-decent animation and sad characters is a masterpiece. They're pseudo intellectual anime elitists who think that liking shows that most people don't like makes them more intelligent, despite the fact that their brains take essentially no stimulation to go "wow, this is the greatest piece of media ever created, just look at how boring it is, that means that it's good since most shows aren't boring".

That's not to discount everyone who likes this show. Some of them seem fine, and they understand that this show just suits their personal taste better. They like getting a peek into what seems like the daily life of an otherwise unusual character, even if it's not the most exciting life.
