So a few days ago I was down with fever and decided to spend the time by watching Kiki's Delivery Service. It was a good film and it did wonders for my aching head. Later on, I was thinking of what other titles I would want to watch when I have a cold in the future, which made me curious about what the users here had in mind.

Have you had similar experiences? If not, what anime would you recommend to someone who's feeling low-spirited or a bit under the weather?

Senko-san perhaps? Now that you bring it up, I probably will use Senko-san for times like these, although it wasn't the most active thing in the world, but it is still liveable. I might even go and review it.

One Piece, other long running shonen, everything with cute girls doing cute things and ecchi, basically everything where you don't need to use your brain to follow the plot.

Interesting, that's a show I need to take a look at.

Yuru Camp was the first one that I thought of afterwards. Really warm and wholesome show.

That's quite the list, thanks. I've been watching Mushishi recently, it's really amazing.

That reminds me, I remember binging Naruto Shippuden when I was down with chicken pox a few years ago and was unable to sleep due to the constant itching. I think it was pretty painful at the time, but now I have fond memories of those days.

Interesting. I haven't watched it myself, but do you think the info dumps would be alright for a sore head? Although I do imagine it being funny to see them explain why we're sick in the first place.

No worries, do let us know if you remember later on.

Thanks, I'm mostly back on my feet again though. And about your recs, ACCA stands out from the rest. Based on the description, it seems a little plot-heavy. I'm curious, what made you think of it?

^ it's heavy in atmosphere inasmuch as it is in plot, but a little use of brain power wouldn't hurt, no? I personally find it comforting, I think you'll get my point in just the pilot episode alone, should you decide to try it out!

I used to watch something calm but interesting at times like that. Natsume Yuujinchou or Mushishi are very good, these are my favs too, haha. Maybe wholesome anime could be good too, like Yuru Camp or Houkago Teibou Nisshi. I'd say the CGDCT or Iyashikei themed animes are the best for me at least.

Well it depends. When people are sick they often feel scared. (If it's normal cold or fever then it's fine) so at those time watching some shows which gives you confidence in your immune system, tells you that your body is doing its best to fight the sickness is quite assuring. It worked for me. Yup like you said each epsiode contain lots of information and with health condition it may not be the best show to binge. Nonetheless watching one episode whenever we are mentally down during sickness is good.
To binge others have already recommend a lot so...

Hm, I've had a similar experience but it was a mistake in hindsight.

I have cyclic vomiting syndrome and on two separate occasions, I binged Fairy Tail while in recovery phase (when light and sound alone didn't make me want to hurl anymore), and it just so happens that on both occasions, I was at the exact same arc (rewatched, never logged it on MAL).

Now any time that arc is brought up I make a mental connection to my violent chronic illness that has made me emetophobic. Eurgh.

This is kind of an isolated situation though, any other time it works out fine. If I catch a cold and binge something I haven't seen before, I probably won't associate it with the cold I had while watching it. Just unfortunate that I watched the same exact thing twice while suffering from an illness that basically gave me trauma.

Though I think I watched Naruto a few times while sick, but since it was different arcs/episodes, it was fine. I prefer long shows so I don't have to think about what to pick next, since I'm probably going to be laying in bed for a while and the last thing I want to do is think. Shut the brain off to recover faster.

That's a lot of NNB recs now, and yes, Barakamon does feel like another good and comfy iyashikei anime.

Not sure why you mentioned Ranma as an interesting choice but Gintama isn't. Both are shounen comedy and comedies make people laugh. I tend to watch shows that make me laugh when I feel down. Works every time.

Ah, that's not what I meant. What I implied was that Ranma1/2 is a show that I rarely hear of nowadays (and hence I have no idea of what it's like, except for the premise). I therefore found it to be 'interesting' for it to be mentioned here. On the other hand, I've heard a lot about Gintama, and it doesn't surprise me to see it popping up in this thread.

i watch konosuba, k-on, hyouka, non-non biyori, initial d etc. when i'm feeling down.

any cgdct works if you're into them, you will forget about everything and will be smiling from ear to ear like an idiot in no time given you're watching a good cgdct. i consider k-on and non non biyori as great cgdct's. plus free moe. i've hard yuru camp is great but i haven't watched that yet.

i also recommned gakuen babysitter, i'm specially saving to watch that anime when i'm absolutely down in the dumps, i've seen clips of it and they are absolutely adorable.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.

I broke my leg once and watching Strawberry Marshmallow and Azumanga Daioh helped keep my mind off the pain and depression i was feeling. Plus watching the new episode gave me something to look forward to after some nightmarish physical therapy. (Back in the day, i watched through this ondemand service. They updated their catalog once a week and the day it updated was always my PT days.)
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by
