i'm confused, why the turtle lady has the power to rewrite the "hero can't invade another world" rule?

There are multiple guardian beasts in the world and the Spirit Tortoise is one of them. So Ost had the authority to grant Naofumi special privileges to travel between worlds for the goal of getting back the energy Kyo stole.

So huh I suppose we missed some things that were explained in the light novel ?
Like why can Rishia walk when they're all grounded ?
Why Kyo knows so much about this world (the blood sacrifice spell, the other one that he talked about as the strongest spell in this world) ?
What was this strongest spell ?
Why can Aust (or whatever you write it in English) overwrite weapons rules ?

Also, kinda disappointed Naofumi didn't use the corrupted shiled, that's the way I prefer him, going full berserk.

Besides that, a pretty good episode and Rishia has a huge glow up

- Rishia is adapt at Hengen Muso, ki manipulation. Basically she unlocked her hidden potential during the fight with Kyo.
- How Kyo knows so much about this world is a big spoiler, viewers shouldn't know this yet.
- Guardian Beasts of the world can give authority for special reasons. Ost gave permission to Naofumi to go to that other world to take back the energy Kyo stole.
- The price of using the curse series is very high. Everyone keeps telling Naofumi not to use that shield for a very good reason!

Best episode of the season by far, Rishia finally kicking butt, I just wish she would stop being so fixated on the bow dude, all of those 3 heroes are a bunch of useless losers, how I wish they would die or whatever and be replaced by the vassal weapon heroes group, they are much more interesting.

I still don't like Rishia. It was poorly brought. It's like her entire idiotic "I can't do it" backstory just shattered in 1s.

Also the book hero is a bit annoying lol, he could have been a bit less since he's kind of cool, but it feels like he's doing too much

Kind of happy the animation quality went up a bit. Not a fan of the darkened screens for some of the attacks, it's cheap and fashionable those last year but it's horrible

The end with the music was kind of ... not cool ? Almost "cringe" worthy for some reason

This episode has made up for the slow, boring, and snails paced of the past episodes. I didn't like Rishia at first but now that she is standing up for herself and fought back I feel like she is going to quickly become a favourite for me. I hope we can see Ost reincarnated because I really like her. If this episode is any indication of how the next half of this season is going to be I think its going to be able to redeem itself!

- The whole KI thing is not BS, the old lady can use it and she tried to teach it to the heroes. But the anime cut that part out.
- The Guardian Beasts are pretty OP. Their role is to defend the world from the waves if the four legendary heroes are defeated.
- The curse series will have a lot of screen time in the series, so don't worry.

Just when I thought this show couldn't sink any lower (though I will admit the Book guy's voice actor is killing it), fuck me what an awful episode even in comparison to the previous one. I'll just write down my most hated parts, my investment in this story has been worn so thin by this point:

1. Rishia, the worthless, cowardly, universally unliked character who has accomplished nothing so far is the one to stand up to, AND DEFEAT BY THE WAY, a Cardinal Hero-level character who is enhanced by the energy of not only 3 other Cardinal heroes, but a world-destroying spirit monster. Deus ex Machina does not even come close to this. She barely receives a scratch while countering every single one of his attacks and defeating him with powers we've never seen her use before. This isn't like her using them with limited proficiency against a grunt enemy, or improvising a skill she's never used in a life or death situation, she beat the character I just described with PERFECT proficiency when seconds before she was useless. Completely inconsistent. This is Rey all over again, except Rey at least lacked the repugnant cowardice and uselessness of Rishia.

2. Why are we pretending that Ost is an important character who's life is oh so precious? Naofumi is acting like he's about to kill Raphtalia for christ's sake.

3. Why are we chasing these idiots through the portal, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! The Tortoise is dead, the world is saved for now, and the three people who form the strongest force in the Waves that are your next greatest threat have jumped through a portal to fight against a third party who is clearly a big deal to them. This effectively cripples any Wave that comes for the foreseeable future, since they won't be in it. WHY ARE YOU HELPING THEM? For a vial of souls? Of DEAD souls? Of people who are ALREADY DEAD? Why are you wasting your time, the Waves are an ongoing threat that will kill MANY MANY MORE SOULS than is in that vial. If the Wave timer is now resumed, you need to stay to fight. If the Wave timer is still paused, even better, since for now the threat is contained, and if the condition for them resuming is "Book lad dies", WHY WOULD YOU HELP TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN?!

Edit: Spelling, Grammar, Clarification

Well that was a load of BS loaded into one episode. The episode was alright, but felt typical/cliché. The villian was awful with his speech. Rishia as a character wasn't that beliveable, I thought she may aid at battle since she literally didn't have any fights to begin with, but suddenly she is the only one capable of opposing the villian for some reason..
Ost dying, I wasn't sold on her character as well from the beginning, so if her death suppose to be emotional, for me it isn't.
The fighting was good, but I feel like it could have been much more interesting if Naofumi used different types of shields etc, instead of everyone just doing their signature attacks. There wasn't really any depth in it.
Overall the episode was solid for a standard anime, but from Shield Hero I expected more after a great season 1.

You have your expectations as much almost everyone who is an anime only way to high.
Those who read both the books and manga knew this was not going to be same level as this was and most still consider it the weakest arc in the series.

Well besides that, this episode was still great when compared to almost all the other episodes. Kevin (made in abyss composter) killed it with the soundtrack this episode.

The Animation quality improved a lot even the ST was 2d animated in its scenes this time. And the action sequences were killer.

Rishia finally had her moment and it was well portrayed, Kyo is still the ever piece of shithead and over the top as ever and i justlove his antics, now the real good arc can finally begin with next weeks episode and it should be a wild ride.

Is the next arc worth watching? I couldn’t do this spirit tortise bs half way through

Looks like the Spirit Tortoise arc has finally come to an end. Fitoria has come to help the Shield Hero by going head to head with the Spirit Tortoise revived again. Both Fitoria and the Shield Hero had to work together to destroy the head and heart at the same time. It's about time that Rishia got rid of that ridiculous costume and start fighting for real against Kyo. Ost was able to lend her magic to Naofumi in order for him to gain a new shield which allowed him to destroy the core and finish off the Spirit Tortoise. Despite of all that, Kyo manged to slip away back to his world with the souls he gained so the vassal heroes went after him and Naofumi's was allowed to go over too there thanks to Ost.

Rishia suddenly became OP by the power of making friendship I suppose, and it'd seem that they again had some trouble finishing the stupid turtle, as if they already hadn't done that multiple times in the previous episodes.

Finally, Naofumi had no choice but to use the wrath shield to kill Ost, but couldn't. I mean, what's the remaining choice here, Ost offing herself? Well, she done exactly that, Naofumi acquired a turtle shield as a bonus for not getting his hand dirty and that became the end of this boring arc.

Tbh I was more relieved than sad when Ost died. Surely the next arc will be better than this.

TBH, Rishia epic moments came from Hengen Musou + s3 spoiler. It's really a shame her character development in anime is pretty shallow... but I hope they properly made her scenes great in s3.

Okay, have a few things I want to let off my chest after finishing watching this episode.

Mort important of all. I've seen some people complain about Naofumi's seemingly offensive abilities, and indeed, the anime has done some things that makes it feel like he's got attacks. The "gun" on the shield to destroy the heart is an actual thing, but it can only be activated for this expressed purpose. The "gun" ability will forever be locked and inaccessible to use and it required specific criteria for activation.

Also, that Aura magic he casts with Ost, the reason bitch face reacted the way he did was because it's ritual level magic, as in hungreds of mages casting it simultaneously in normal circumstances. He will eventually learn to cast this on his own, but that is much much much later in the series, far beyond what season 3 is going to be. So don't want to flag the "spoiler" card for that one.

Now that that's taken care of.... I honestly think this was one of the best episodes in terms of adapting the source material. Sure, some cuts here and there, some changes to make it easier to anime, but overall, it was pretty well done! Bitch Face, I never remember his name, and he's such a dickhead anyway, his demeanor is pretty spot on. So I feel that was really well done.

Rishia's awakening was pretty well done as well I feel. It's often referred to as her awakening, in the novels it a lot more sense because she has the same scenes of justice as Itsuki the Bow Hero, but it isn't as borked and twisted as his. It's more like hating injustice, which is why she has this love and admiration for Itsuki. How Bitch Face treats Itsuki and the other two heros, how he unfairly uses stolen powers to shit on others like he does with Naofumi at that moment and how he's just a dick in general is what sets her off. And it's actually her heightened emotional state that causes her to set off like that, something that isen' apparent at all in the anime. In the novels, she litterally gets off the floor the same way in the anime, and it's due to how pissed off the is and how natural it is for her to use life force, what they translate to chi. She was as bad ass in the anime as she is in the novel at that point. I hated her character up till this point. After this, I started paying attention to her, cause she had potential is seemed.

Finally, I do feel the scene with Ost at the end was poorly handled. In the novels, she dies around them, surrounded by Naofumi, Raphtalia, Filo, Rishia. If memory serves the Queen is there as well with Eclair and even Fitoria. She see's them morn the loss of her, even though she had the job of destroying the world if need be. They were crying because a friend was about to die, and they called her a friend, something she'd never experienced before. The scene in the novels is a lot more emotional and powerful, and they still have time to go through the portal after she's gone. I feel it's a shame they changed that specific detail going from novel to anime. Perhaps is has something to do with culture, of seeing loved ones die? Regardless, as it was in written form, to me at least, that scene would have been more powerful if they'd been next to her. Maybe it's just a personal thing, the idea of dying alone, rather die surrounded by loved once.

Well, next week we start with vol. 8 of the novels. Okay, the pre into scene is probably going to be the last chapter of vol. 7, but we are about to start the second half of this arc next week. Pretty insane to think; season 1 was 26 episodes long (ep. 1 being a double episode), that season spanned 5 volumes. These first 6 episodes of season 2 spanned 2 volumes. A tiny bit of fun trivia here; vol. 1-5 consists of 1.576 pages spanning 26 episodes, that averages 60 pages per episode. This first part of season 2 consist of vol. 6 and 7, a total of 639 pages spread over 6 episodes, that's and average of 106 pages per episode.

I'm not saying this is an accurate representation, cause sometimes entire sections from season to were also cut. But at least it's a bit of an indicator of why it was so difficult to keep up with this season so far. I'm a novel reader, and the only reason I understand the story is due to that fact. This shouldn't be the case. I've said it before and I'll say it again. And I say it because I love this series so much, I want people to watch the anime, fall in love with it and be encouraged to pick up the novels and read them. But making a mess of an anime adaptation is not how you do that. Credit where credit is due though, and overall, this episode was by far the best of the season so far, and hopefully, there are still some people around who has stuck with the series.

Kyo gives off some really serious SAO villain vibes. For a brief moment, I was lowkey afraid he would start molesting Raphtalia in front of Naofumi for lame shock value.

But seriously tho, this shit show doesn't deserve to have such wonderful OST. That said, Kevin Penkin's work once again doing its best to cover up for the amount of bull crap this show's writing can come up with.

I'm sorry no. This episode did a lot damage to the series. I don't say that lightly. This arc and the way it written created so many plot holes to a point the show isn't gonna be able to feel and they want you to ignore them. There was a way to cut down the pacing of this arc even if it was "bad". This arc has critical character development and growth for our crew and it gives Ost ample screen time to have this death be sad.

Shield Hero is not a battle shonen. We're not here for fights. We like this show because of the connection we built with the characters and their development. This show is gonna be dead after season 3. They should be embraced for the nonsense they pulled.

This arc is so boring that I wonder why it even exists. The dialogue is abismal and the green hair girl is annoyingly bland (so much so that I can't even remember her name). If the next arcs are like this, it's clear that this show has played its special card at the very start and now it's just the usual isekai I've seen dozens of times.

Wow fueh girl finally on the move. And surely she's become a different person, for a solely 'that reason'. The three idiots really get caught there just because of they weak as shit. No need more explanation. Thank you very much for your contribution, Kyo. Then filolial queen also decided to helping. Damn she's so strong that can pierce those giant turtle head alone. No wonder she had confidence to say she can kill the four cardinal by herself.

Next. Kyo still as annoying as ever with his behavior, now he's escape just like that. Good fuckin job everyone. Ost after a 6 exhausted damn long episode, she finally can die in peace. Lets hope her wish become a reality, till the next time. Because i simply still wanna let HanaKana hang around here longer...

Alright, then, enough with the turtle. New journey ahead. Wondering into another world, after being teleported to another world. Naofumi should be realizing the gag. Then again, its time for a new objective, playing a tag team game with Kyo as their target. Sounds fun!

I'm disappointed how this season is resolving. On the other hand I was positively surprised when Rishia decided to help Naofumi instead giving Itsuki a BJ , I hope she'll finally stop simping that stupid bow guy and will team up with Naofumi's squad permanently

Animation got an upgrade this episode, makes sense they're was a lot of action in this episode. Kept thinking someone should have just stabbed Kyo in the back, like dude was standing around for five minutes talking shit. Doesn't Raphtalia have that dark invisible magic or something. Risha suddenly got powerful, Naofumi got a new shield, its a fight of 10 against 1, why didn't everyone go into different directions and confuse/kill the dude.

Didn't feel sad for Ost, melodramatic af. Hopefully the pacing will slow down and we can enjoy the other hero's world.

the best episode in the season and it was still.. a meh episode..

The only redeeming quality of this episode were the God tier soundtracks.. Rishia motivation reason is Ass..
Antaganist writing is Ass..
Plot has become Ass..

Animation was improved.. That i can say.. but everything else was same..

Something is rising and its my disappointment..

Alright this is an awesome ep, best one so far, sad to see Ost gone but this mark the end of the Spirit Tortoise arc. Now I'm excited to see the next arc, going to another world

Did I just witness a record breaking rate of ass pulls per minute?

would not be shield hero without ass pulls, this show is so bad.

the ost ruined this episode too IMO, that sax was very out of place
