| Yes, visual novels do count. Only criteria is the anime has to be based on a real game, like Mario or Street Fighter. No sword art online or things that were based on a fictional game. |

| If you mean best and worst adaptation in terms of following the source material, Pokemon Origins is quite faithful, deviates at the end with Mega evolution, but the progression is very close to the game. If just being based on a game is enough and entertainment is what matter, then Street Fighter anime are a funny case because the best ones, IMO, are very loosely based on the game, like Street Fighter II V, or more based on the canon of the Udon Comics than the game lore itself, like Street Fighter Alpha: Generations. When they tried to be more faithful they got very boring. Bayonetta Bloody Fate is bad no matter what. |

| I think visual novel adaptation will always be inferior unless the animation is high budget which is obviously not the case. grisaia felt like it could have been better. |

| All of my favourite games have gotten mediocre anime adaptations. The character designs for Ace Attorney looked dull. I just couldn't get into it. TWEWY anime was super rushed. The anime even skipped Neku's best monologues. I can go on ranting about other stuff but I won't. Let's not talk about the Pokemon anime since it's aimed at kids. I'm keeping my expectations low for the upcoming Arknights anime. Steins;Gate and F/SN Heaven's Feel trilogy are amazing. However I haven't read the VN for them. |

| unpopular opinion, but i genuinely think the school days adaptation was genius. by combining the worst endings in the VN, it immediately made me want to go buy the game so i could play through it and make things right. and you know what? i did. some people say that adaptations are just advertisements for the original product, and in this case, school days succeeded in making me buy something. you know, with that in mind, i wonder if game adaptations are bad on purpose? so people go and buy the game so they can get a better experience. i know i'm toying with the idea of getting a ps4 solely to play persona 5... |
| I don't care about vns so I haven't played any.... Like 4 maybe. They weren't anime'd. Nor are any of the games I played. But I must say I liked those 3d cgi final fantasy movies. |
