Ngl Netflix really dropped the ball with stone ocean, the hype was dead pretty much the day after release, hope they aren’t responsible for part 7 and 8

i mean, the fact that yeah, they dropped every episode at the same time kinda killed it. But still, the show is enjoyable ain't it ? it's still nicely animated and hype to watch as a non manga reader

Agreed. It's a shame the way Netflix handled it, but we did get twelve really well adapted and solid episodes in the end. I think it is strange that MAL is splitting it into two separate cours, that's a little weird.

The moment I saw part 6 only had 12 episodes I went and read the manga. I had already been debating it, so I went and read part 6 and 7. When Netflix said they were going to do it from now on I thought that meant the whole season at once. So ya the 12 episodes really killed my hype, but the manga was great though!

They FACTUALLY killed the hype. I remember people got mad at me when I said this format would kill all hype. here's a graph I found on Twitter about search interest with weekly parts vs part 6.

It's funny that the author of this chart forgot to add Golden Wind, and it's really only Vento Aurelo trends, excluding Golden Wind.

Someone mentioned that in the tweet and he said that was a mistake, but the data is still similar

Do you really think Netflix cares when they've already put money in their pockets with Warner Bros?

If Netflix were respectable enough, they'd reconsider the batch drop, maybe to a monthly format of 3 or so episodes. They couldn't give less of a toss about the condition of Stone Ocean right now.

It's a shame, too, since I really do believe that David Productions enjoyed the adaptation. Now, they're probably tried for time on releases. I mean, look at Operation Savage Garden from the last cour - the CG was great, but given DP's track record for animating JoJo's, there really was no need for a CG Lang Rangler and Whitesnake beyond it being due to time constraints on Netflix's part.

This is speculative, but I 100% doubt that we'd have been given a smidgen of CG had the episodes released on a weekly basis (Like they always have) and DP would have also had more of an opportunity to finalise and clean up some of the animation.

I mean, although the format truly did "kill the hype" - I've been dying for the second part since I finished the first, JUST so I can start the manga of Part 7 after.

I just want to know when it starts up again, dammit

I don't watch Jojo, but the fact that a prominent modern shounen title backed up by the sequel effect is less than 0.1 higher in score than some SoL anime about a teasing loli is a very sad sight to see, as retarded as a lot of the scores on this site tend to be. Feelsbadman.

wut? I'm a huge JoJo fan but takagi deserves that score in every regard. Let's not put down other shows because you aren't into the SoL genre.

You might think that Netflix releasing in batches of 12 doesn't kill the hype but I can promise you as a long-time jojo fan it does. One reason is the mentioned batch releases where it's popular for a few days & then not at all for months. But the bigger problem is the fact Crunchyroll doesn't get the show. Most people I know in the community experienced it via Crunchyroll "Jojo Fridays" which brought a ton of hype to the show over it's entire airing. Look I love Netflix but the way they go about releasing shows in batches to binge-watch does not work for newly releasing anime. They really gotta fix that otherwise the enjoyment is gone. Plus who honestly wants to use Netflix to watch anime when Crunchyroll now has 90% of all anime produced with a better structure for it's shows?

I keep remembering the series and how hyped I was for it, maybe it's because I listen on the OP almost daily.

You'll find supporting facts for either weekly or netflix release schedule.
JoJo's already has a big fanbase. If the quality continues to be good it'll stay relevant either way and people will come back to watch it / new people gonna try it.

This discussion is nonsense, just fans venting cause it doesn't fit their personal liking.

What are the "supporting facts" for the Netflix release schedule, then? I see no actual data presenting it as a good decision, either financially or in garnering interest.

Well, you're gonna have to wait some more, because if they release just 12 episodes again then they would need to release a third batch also.

I'VE GOTTA CONSOOOOOOM AHHHHHHHHH
"Chimp in state of nature never jerks off, but in captivity he does, wat does this mean? In state of nature he’s too busy, to put plainly. He is concerned with mastering space: solving problem of life in and under trees, mastering what tools he can, mastering social relations in the jockeying for power and status. Deprived of this drive to development and self-increase he devolves to pointless masturbation, in captivity, where he senses he is in owned space and therefore the futility of all his efforts and all his actions."

some shows are made to be watched in one go and some weekly , but there's no such thing as a show made to be watched in small batches. people are rightfully complaining .

This is the part that annoys me the most.
The fact that Netflix having DP rush out 12 episodes ahead of schedule might be causing an actual drop in quality of the end product.
The fact the CG is mostly in the later episodes, which they would have had an extra THREE MONTHS to work on is concerning.
However to be fair, animating Whitesnake's detailed design, the frog rain, and Lang Wrangler's shoes/zero-gravity would be very difficult hand-drawn.

I'm praying that Netflix doesn't do another batch or at the very least, waits till the end of the weekly broadcast so they don't fuck up Davidpro's animating schedule anymore.
