I mean wtf? Best romance Horimiya and best drama To Your Eternity? Even Tohru didn't won the best girl either. Welp, Crunchyroll meme awards sucks anyways.

The awards are usually bad but this was an especially shitty year. 12 of the 20 awards went to just 3 shows, Eren won best antagonist despite not being one, Slime beat Mushoku Tensei for best fantasy, and of course, worst of all, Fruits Basket didn’t win a single thing.

it should have been nominated for AotY and won that.
But yeah, crunchyroll somehow able to find the most useless judges for these roles.

Honestly punching air cause huh ? It’s as if the awards were randomly given cause they really make no sense whatsoever. The fact Fruits Basket did not even win one is unfathomable to me honestly.

It’s supposed to be like 70% judges and 30% fan votes to prevent the most popular shows from steamrolling everything like they did the first couple years, but that clearly didn’t work this time given that AoT, JJK and Demon Slayer won 60% of the awards between them, and Fruits Basket, which somehow wasn’t even nominated for anime of the year, lost best drama and best romance to the not nearly as good but much more popular To Your Eternity and Horimiya.

Yeah it’s a shame Fruits Basket didn’t win anything. I suppose we can be content in it being the highest rated thing on mal from last year despite being review bombed.

I voted for her too, but I was expecting David Wald to win because of that one clip from the Sk8 dub that went viral. Most of the voters probably don’t watch many dubs so their choice in that category will just come down to which ones they’ve been exposed to in ways like that.

Hate the CR awards but this is one of the things that they did right.

Furuba's final season is just pandering to whatever fans wanted to see with no real life struggles at all.

I can understand Furuba didn't win best romance, since HORIMIYA portrayed ROMANCE better as it's romance in every way. But Furuba should've won Best DRAMA, anyways To your Eternity wasn't less, it was also amazing top class Drama close to Furuba so I'm not disappointed but still......

Honestly 3 mainstreams won multiple awards. The fact that even Kny mugen train recap won some awards. Shounen supremacy as always.

Absolutely snubbed. In general, I liked their attempt to inject some variety into the nominanations, but man, when recaps and the second half of an anime from the previous year are supposedly the best stuff that came out last year, it's a bit sad.

I agree. The nominations were quite nice because the nominated animes were variant. But it sucks that shounen will always be supreme.

It's not even about the shounen to me. It's just that even though 2021 was such a solid year, from the CR awards you'd get the impression that it was just mediocre. Oscars, for example, can be bad too, but it's not so bad that the director's cut from a movie of the previous year is still winning awards the next one. Works way better to highlight the best works from that year.

For me, CR Rankings are always biased and only a few titles and names of characters are being given, lol.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

In my honest opinion, only the episode 1 of To Your Eternity could absolutely pass Fruits Basket. But after that, the pacing became an issue and full of forced dramas.

Yes, it was, and was way better than its manga counterpart that had unnecessary unfunny and uninteresting SoL stuff for half its length.

Horimiya anime was one of the worst romcoms I've seen and/or read. Which is sad because it looked promising early on until it muddled around with a whole lotta nothing, both anime and manga. The anime just be fast forward brrrrrrrrrrr lol.

I wholeheartedly agree. The premise was simple, but had a lot of potential. The plot started to turn me off when I realized that Hori was kind of a piece of shit, and it got especially bad when they spent multiple episodes focusing on side characters I frankly didn't really care about in the first place. The downfall really started when Miya changed his whole style tbh.

Although, I usually don't follow popular opinion, but the case of Horimiya manga declining after 50 or so chapters is I am fully behind.

No, but I didn't want a sappy ending of Furuba as well. Unnecessary pandering to Tohru and Kyou shippers leading to lose any sense of realism, one of the worst conclusions to an antagonist story, plus an unrealistic extreme depiction of parental hatred.

It's funny cuz Furuba S1 was so good with Hanekawa(?) backstory and Tohru finding a place in the world. Shit just went weaker and weaker every season.

Tbh I have mixed feelings about people saying Horimiya > Fruits Basket

Fruits Basket the Final Season did in fact skipped around 6-7+ chapters though I'm very glad that they didn't adapt those chapters because the drama would have gotten a lot longer and they were able to make a great conclusive ending which is still great for most viewers and glad they didn't skip most important aspects like Tohru and Kyo's relationship development in particular. While Horimiya the anime adaptation is the biggest disappointment I've seen in any romcom adaptation like bruh who tf would skip 40+ chapters and went straightforward to the ending of the manga, it was so abridged and making the series less impactful especially to those who have read the manga > with better characterization 🤣 But I'm not disappointed with viewers who enjoys the chemistry between the main couple though.

The anime made it 10x worse though. Everything was so rushed. I remember that episode where they were separated for a few days and the anime tried it's best to make it seem like such a huge moment, but it failed miserably because everything went by so quickly. It was basically 5 minutes for us which completely defeats the purpose. It's little things like that which made it such a bad adaptation

dude seems like a troll but he's actually right when it comes to fruba s3, easily the weakest season of the franchise. Akito's character doesn't even make any sense at all, her being so abusive is just plain fucking stupid. Now I understand she had rough childhood and she's the God of zodiac sign or some shit, but she was mean for sake of being mean, especially when she was 21 or something. As usual our tohru makes talk no jutsu and boom everything's fine. Highly dissatisfied with s3 especially after brilliant s1 and 2.
