| Ashita no Joe, Turn A Gundam and Legend of the Galactic Heroes all had extremely effective endings. Kind of a rare breed when it comes to anime. EDIT: I noticed that I consider all three of those anime to be in my top 10. I think that illustrates the importance of an impactful ending. |

| Damn, I immediately thought Sonny Boy, then saw you put it up there. I think it leaves on a sad note, but it wraps the show really well and doesn't leave any loose ends. For me, it was an unexpected, but satisfying ending |

| I wouldn't assume there is such thing as a best ending because not everyone can come to the consensus of what a "best" ending would actually be. I mean would calling something being the best if everyone is left living happily ever after? Or are you more attune to a more morbid and tragic conclusion? Recently I finished watching the entire series of "High Score Girl". I wouldn't presume to call it the "best" ending but it was in fact extremely satisfying to see how it all ended. In fact I later read that the series concluded actually the exact way the source material portrayed. Which is extremely rare to see when most adaptations are made almost for the sole purpose to get viewers to start subscribing to the actual source materials if they wish to continue following the story. To get back to my point the reason why I thought "High Score Girl" ended well was because it wasn't an all warm and fuzzy happy ending but it wasn't an absolute tragic conclusion either. In my opinion these are the best types of endings I find the most compelling. Especially if it is a definitive conclusion to the over all story. |
