The official website for the television anime adaptation of Shinobu Ohtaka's Orient announced on Wednesday three additional cast members. The first two episodes will premiere at a pre-screening event on December 12 with the regular broadcast beginning in January 2022.

Cast

Hideo Kosameda: Wataru Hatano (Fairy Tail)

Tetsuya Yanagisawa (High School DxD) is directing the series at A.C.G.T. with Mariko Kunisawa (Honzuki no Gekokujou) in charge of series composition. Takahiro Kishida (Durarara!!) is handling character design and Hideyuki Fukasawa (Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works) is composing the music.

In what context is Orient to be understood here, if by Western standards, Japanese culture is also oriental?

Yes, it is logical. But this is literally Japanese manga.

Yes, it is logical. But this is literally Japanese manga.

japanese consider themselves as being situated in the east, not officially but yeah, it's a geographical gimmick

The earliest textual references to Japan are in Chinese classic texts. Within the official Chinese dynastic Twenty-Four Histories, Japan is mentioned among the so-called Dongyi 東夷 "Eastern Barbarians".

It's just that I've heard more than once that the term "oriental" is considered racist these days.

tell me about it, everything is racist these days, a sports commentator was fined because he said that "di maria's behaviour was too latino". Di Maria is Argentinian, so yeah, people are evil and they love to start shit.
soon enough they'll ban the word "European" too, but I'm straying

Uchida Yuuma is voicing the MC, so I might give this a shot.
