we know having op mc and good writing both in a story is a huge difficult thing to follow not even gonna pretend otherwise but that aside, Do you think every anime that has weak mcs are actually good written story or an anime can not be good just because it has a weak mc.

I think having a MC who's well written makes a story better, regardless if they are weak or strong.

That said, I do prefer if they don't start immediately strong.

I can assure one thing to isekai haters not every/majority of isekai that have a weak mc is re:zero (since people think this is pinnacle of isekai) tier in quality actually not even nowhere close at that

Doesn't matter how weak or strong your mc is if your others things from story sucks.

Yes, provided it is well written.

I like the weak -> strong concept.

However, the prerequisite for success is still at least a subtle handling, implementation, casting and development of the protagonist. It is always interesting to see how they overcome hurdles and get stronger.

BUT
BUT!!!!!
Stop using those "naive stupid" protagonists for this role who just smile and show how positively naive you are. I hate things like that more than harem protagonists.

As @Menternor said prompting me to send a FR XD.

Also yeah, Re:Zero handles has a weak mc, but he makes the story better.
Kumo is a good example where mc goes from weak to super strong with a lot of struggle. (It's not perfect, she gets cheats, but not as much as say, Rimuru). Kumoko doesn't always make the story better but she steers it, which is good mc writing!
Mushoku Tensei wraps itself with it's protagonist and his entire life, and it shows how many different ways a isekai mc can grow with the story around him.

I agree but both kumuko and rudy will fall under weak to strong category rather than weak for eternity and i think op asking about the latter which idk think every weak mc can make the story automatically better like subaru did (totqally depends on author imo)

that being said Kumuko and Rudy has some of the better weak to strong isekai stuff i read or watch (Rimuru being third tho he is more opier than other two)

I agree with the others replying here, weak protags are cool but they are only good if they're actually well-written too.

I think my favorite weak protagonist would probably be Osamu from World Trigger.

Yes, I just can't recall some other good weak MC. Does Kazuma count? Maybe, but his high intelligence and luck can do wonders. He's great too.
I just said what I think a mc can be to impress me, so it's kinda a foil to the statement that both an OP mc and good storyline are not easy to get together

I don't mind either way really but a story always has more elements to be taken into consideration than just the main character's power level.

You can absolutely create powerful main characters like Mob from Mob Psycho 100 or Shichika from Katanagatari and create amazing stories by integrating interesting themes and writing good side characters that help the main character develop or help the story progress. Or just do what OPM does and remove the main character for the better half of the story completely.

Basically, I don't think there's a strong correlation between those two.

YES, didn't think I would see world trigger appreciation here. Really love how he works around not being physically gifted/strong.

Like a lot of ppl here, it can be done good or bad both ways.

Good examples of OP protagonist/ someone who is strong from start:
Mob Psycho, Gintama.

Good examples of weak to strong mc:
World Trigger, Hajime no Ippo.

Doesn’t matter, the quality of writing is the only important thing.

Mob is strong as fuck and he’s written beautifully.
Hinata (from Haikyuu) is very weak and his character development is easily one of the best that’s ever been written

I think having a weak mc would make the show worst, BNHA is the perfect example.

it doesn't guarantee it. It could end up working against it but there's time where it works as well

I don't think the power of the MC has any control over the quality of a story, it's the writing that matters
