In free porn, you're seeing actors that everyone else is also seeing. But there's exclusivity with OF. Only a select people view it, and if there's personal messages (which I don't doubt there are) it becomes even more exclusive, for your eyes only. But where I don't follow necessarily, is the notion of "Where do we draw the line in which seeking exclusive sexual content becomes mental illness and not just a preference?" A person may just be getting their rocks off better when it's exclusive. And someone paying money to obtain things that give them a better sexual high sounds completely fair. When it's not so clear-and-cut would be when the person is mentally ill and their judgement is compromised in some way. Some may consider being driven by lust and being very lonely to be similarly judgement inhibiting, but regardless of whether we believe that's on the same level as mental illness, the onus is still not on the creators to take extra steps in eliminating the likelihood of such individuals seeking them as possible, but rather on the consumers, or your health institutions if it's severe enough. Just as you wouldn't celebrate weed being criminalized just because certain people are addicted to it, wishing platforms like OF to get taken down because certain vulnerable individuals are throwing their money at it is not a sensible. It's like chopping down the entire forest because you're afraid of a forest fire. There are more nuanced solutions that put the responsibility on individuals or professional help and not the industry. |
