The muscles are still there and Goku and Vegeta in no way look like sticks.

Dragon Ball Super muscles

Gohan also isn't super skinny anymore in Super.

Simple, they keep their clothes on instead of blowing them off.

1. It's just a different art style.
2. DBS airs in the morning as opposed to DBZ's night time. That's why the characters can't be half-naked all the time, hence, less muscle shown.

If I remember well, once I read somewhere that muscled mc warriors were a thing of the past; that the tendency nowadays was to draw them more skinny. I guess DBS was not going to be the exception; the Z warriors are still muscled but nowhere as much as how they were drawn back in the 90s.

I've yet to see Goku drawn like this in DBS:

Just wanna ad: this has a logic reason too. Athletic but eeh... not-anabolics people are more agile - AAAND this overdone supermasculinity looks shit / ridiculous. Imo. XD

It's ridiculous for skinny people to be super strong, more muscle mass = greater physical strength. DBZ characters have super speed like Superman so their size doesn't affect speed. There needs to be balance, masculinity needs to be liked as much as femininity. Not every guy is going to be a pretty, skinny bishounen for fujoshis.

No, this is ridiculous. Oh you are women. No surprise you dont understand.

Dragon Ball was always about muscles, violence, screaming, and blood. Now, we dont have blood because of fcukg family friendly trash. Neither muscles but female Broly... WTF happening with the world?

You've never actually seen Dragon Ball, have you? It has always been a comedic series, not this "hardcore" crap you people always go on about.

I know, it's ridiculous anyway and they don't do much damage, when they need hundreds punches to bring your opponent down. So, I guess, it's just hot air there. ;D

It is very comedy-packed but it has its fair share of very dramatic and intense moments. It plays more like a dramedy then.

It depends on strength difference (power level difference). In DBZ one punch or a few punches not hundreds can beat an opponent weaker than another character.

Still there: volumes of the muscles seem lower but you still see the characters have this typical "skin stretched out by muscles" look. Isn't less muscular size simplifying the drawings? (less lines or something)

Their muscles are supposed to get bigger when they focus energy in them.
Characters had also " debated" about the musles/speed problem even when they were able to be invisible for human eyes since years.

PS: the picture of the SSJ on Namek is clearly digital, not from the original series. The one from the Bejita fight isn't showing Goku in a "natural condition": he's exhausting hìmself with the body all contracted from the kaiô-ken.

@DrGeroCreation I know -_-"
It was just to react to someone affirming their speed made their muscular masses irrelevant.

@neonshock Right. (This looks like 10years later though.)
Usual anime inconsistency? (sorry, I don't have the manga at hands currently so I can't compare)

Yeah, they're less bulky and their muscles are less defined. It's just easier to draw that way.
Be thankful for the wisdom granted to you.

The muscles/speed problem only exists for ultra saiyan http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Saiyan_Third_Grade

Edit @Rei366 Oh I see.

Exactly Kaioken bulks Goku up especially when he multiplies it. Non Kaioken saiyan saga Goku wasn't really muscular.

@Rei366 But there were some moments when Goku was indeed in normal conditions, not in any type of "battle-mode", nor experimenting any type of transformation/technique, and was still drawn super-muscled:

That was the problem with DBZ and Toei overall (in DBS they fix this problem midway but the same ramain in script department)
There was like 5 groups working on episodes, 1 group done episode 1,6,11; second group 2,7,12 etc. And there was barely any communication between those groups. 1 group draw Goku skinny, another with more muscle, 1 group draw Vegeta with red hair, another with black etc. There was many more and waaay obvious/bad mistakes like those.
All long lasting series are done this way but Toei have problem that they don't talk between groups.
3 setps to become Masochist:
1. Read source material
2. Watch anime adaptation
3. Suffer
Bonus Step: Tell everyone that anime is crap becouse Manga/Novel is better (duh..)

How to find the worst trash anime ever, so bad that people should be ashamed for even knowing this trash exist:
1. Check your favorite anime
2. Enjoy your shit taste pleb
Works everytime for everyone.

The muscles are still there is just the artist art style change

That's an "artist's choice" that shouldn't be allowed. Only reasonable excuse is if this change was made because it's easier to draw and as I heard the animation artists don't get paid a good amount for their work, and they work hard. So that's it.

Anyone still saying nothing change just didn't watch DBZ. Probably just a kid.

You must be talking about classic Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball Z was SO MUCH about muscles, violence, screaming, blood and also what you said. Didn't you watch the Raditz, Vegeta and Frieza sagas, to make my point crystal clear?

I did, was just nitpicking because he said Dragon Ball rather than Z :p
