When did the HunterxHunter anime make you feel very sad? Was there any moment it made you cry or get teary-eyed? I'm asking because tbh HxH is one of the only long running shounen I watched without once feeling very sad or teary eyed. I loved it for its epicness and great characters but yeah, I certainly feel it was lacking that emotional punch that I seek for in an anime. One Piece, Naruto, Gintama, Bleach, heck even Fairy Tail had many moments where I felt really emotional about a scene.

Did y'all cry when
Anyone else feel HxH was lacking an emotional punch or am I in the minority here?
This anime shit is addictive

That's interesting.
I recently finished my rewatch and the only time I got very emotional was during episode 135 (Meruem & Komugi scenes) and a few scenes of episode 136. But none of them were out of sadness per se. They were very beautiful scenes.

I have watched the show and I have the same opinion. Even Meruem and Komugi was not that sad.

I loved Hunter X Hunter because of the darkness, fights and psycological themes. There are far better anime with emotional scenes.

One Piece for example is much more emotional and hit me sometimes like a freight train.

When Gon said the N word. I couldn't believe that such an innocent kid would give into the dark side of racial discrimination. I sucks to know that the same thing is going on today in our world.

There was only one time I cried while watching HxH and that was during the closing moments of Chimera Ant Arc.

For my least favorite arc, it was a great way to wrap things up.

I felt nothing, but I usually feel nothing for those sorts of shows.

I heard Kite is more popular among fans of the older anime. But when I tried watching it, I came to like him even less.

No idea. It was quite laughably bad overall. I didn't feel much emotions aside cringe and annoyance.

1. Kite loses his arm and the scene where he is standing against pitou
2. Netero Sacrifices himself
3. Meruem and komugi death

All of these moments were pretty sad in my opinion or at least emotional

Gon was weirdly attached for someone he just met (even though hes important) so i couldnt really understand his feelings

I don’t know how you could watch this show and not be sad or feel the emotion. Meruem and Komogi, Gon and Killua parting ways, Netero dying, Gons overwhelming rage at Kites death, Kurapikas revenge. This show even has happy cries like the Gon and Leorio scene in the election arc.

To me the saddest thing about HxH is to see so many people with 2011 in their top 10 favorites than don't even have the original 1999 version in their plan to watch lists.

Nothing can be more sad than that.

Yeah Kite was kinda sad but it was more sad seeing Gons reaction to it all than the actual death itself. Though I've heard it's more impactful in the manga since you see the first time kite and Gon met in the beginning of the story, rather than later via flashback.

As for your answer to the question, I think most people here including myself are gonna say the Meruem and Komugi moment/story made them cry and rightly so, because honestly, it might be the most beautiful moment/story I've ever seen.

You should have put your grasses on. nothin will have went wong.

bro the saddest moment in HXH history and in all of anime and manga history, was when it didnt get completed.......... RIP

because it often feels super melodramatic and forced. It can be so over the top that it sort of ruins the moment.

to be pretty sad and horrible.

I know their thing for each other is anime-only, but I still find them cute together.
So when

I felt so bad for them both! And it would only get worse for him from that point.

His death was one of the saddest deaths in the series, and one of the most disturbing ones I have ever seen in anime. Such a stretched out death... no one deserves that to be honest.

When Killua thought about his worth to Gon while talking to Palm in Chimera ant arc. That, imo is the most emotional scene of HxH
