If the girl you vote for isn't listed in the poll, speak out and tell us who she is!!!

May I just remind everyone who votes that unfeminine-ness is not equal to being a feminist character :)

I think Hikaru Hiyama isn't too tomboyish. At first she was a little tough, but after meeting Kyosuke she becomes so immature and girly.

Also, besides Akane knowing martial arts, she's pretty girly. Wearing dresses most of the time.

Heh, I didn't realize Haruhi Suzumiya even qualified as very boyish.
I was told at one point that a "Haruhi" was very boyish and I was pretty much sure at this point they had to have been talking about Haruhi from Ouran. I thought I had mistakenly mentioned Suzumiya in the recommendation thread.

I do agree that she has a few characteristics defined masculine by gender roles, though.
She's clearly not anywhere near as feminine as Mikuru, the most girly in all of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Nagato is fairly boyish too. From the strong silent type perspective, the "emotionless girl" or "silent girl" type is something that goes against the stereotype of the "social woman". Why people call men who carry out this silent introvert behavior as "girly" like Uchiha Sasuke, is beyond me.

There's also the fact she's short haired, determined, serious, and a strong warrior.
Though there's not any women in Haruhi Suzumiya I would say are a top pick for this.

Faye Valentine has a few of the "Ladette" qualities. But Edward is the clearly most boyish female in all of Cowboy Bebop. Heck, she was originally designed to be a boy, and if I'm not mistaken, she IS indeed a boy in the manga.

Makoto Kino from Sailor Moon is kind of boyish. Though I'd say Haruka Tenoh at least slightly outdoes her.

Old avatar and sig retired for now.

Yeah, I agree with everyone on Haruka. And I also agree with ukonkivi that Haruhi (Suzumiya) shouldn't even be on this poll, I never even really thought of her as being boyish tbh :/

I cannot believe nobody has mentioned Kino's Journey. A minor spoiler of the show follows, but if you wanna know why you would love it, please read:

Kino is easily, hands down, the most tomboyish female lead I have ever witnessed in anime and manga.

Let's see:
- She travels alone with the exception of Hermes, her motorbike
- Yes, motorbike.
- She's wicked in the ways of a gun
- Her wardrobe is entirely that of a man's
- As a matter of fact, most people don't know Kino is a girl until later in the series...
- She definitely isn't high-pitched, overemotional, lovey-dovery, or whatever girly sterotype you can think you

If you haven't watched Kino's Journey yet, and you're a fan of philosophical shows, you can't miss it. ^_^

My vote definitely goes to Tatsuki from Bleach. All of the other gilrs have shown at least 1 girly trait, especially Misty. But I don't remember seeing ANY from Tatsuki.

Jo from Bakuretsu Tenshi. Some people even wonder why she wasn't made a male character, since she has no real feminine traits. (Obviously it was for yuri purposes, lol, but you get the idea.) She's hot! <3

The most tomboish females in this poll are Ranma-chan, Akane, Tatsuki, Makoto, and Haruka.
Anyway.

Faye Valentine, not feminine? What are you smoking?
Haruhi Suzumiya is not a tomboy, she is a tsundere.
Hikaru is not a tomboy, neither, she is just the cheerful type.

The poll is missing some actually manly girls, such as Kaoru and Rei from Onii-sama e, Jo from Bakuretsu Tenshi, Hokuto from Tokyo Babylon, Sakura from Karekano, Revy from Black Lagoon, Caska from Berserk, Lizzy from Seikon No Qwaser, and Melissa from Full Metal Panic.

You've simply thrown in some female characters that are not the typical girly type. It is recommended to learn the actual definition of "tomboy" before making such incoherent polls. Just sayin'.

The first character to come to mind for me is Oscar from Rose of Versailles, kinda surprised she's not on the list. Kino is a good one too though! Love them both. But in the end I'd say Oscar is the dudeliest female character.

If Tenou Haruka didn't go transforming into mini-skirt form then she'd be the absolute winner for this one, I'd say.

Id say misaki from maid sama she does look girly in ways but im thinking more of her personality shes always thinking like a man wanting to protect those she loves and works hard for her family nos some fighting hates men and she is perfect at cross dressing shes considered flat chested too though her girly part is her luv for usui

The manliest MAJOR female character in my opinion:
Chiquita and Valmet from Jormungand

There's a girl from Dirty Pair that Kei fought in one episode that is manlier, but she's not even a recurring char.

Kagura from Gintama isn't manly or tomboyish but she is definitely the most unfeminine. She picks her nose, farts, burps, trolls, says inappropriate things, vomits, etc. xD

I'd also vote Kino from Kino's Journey, for sure. She's awesomely tough and cool. Also, Saber from the Fate shows. She looks super cool in a suit and has a great brave and noble personality, too.
