| It's not broken, the search is just plain bad. For a forum a good search should be the norm, even the advanced search sucks. Too bad they don't invest time in it. |

| We had a lot of problems with the forum search in the past, it was even broken completely several times (and for several months). DeNA fixed it in 2015 or 2016. When they did, they implemented "fuzzy searching" which allows to find related threads even if the search key terms don't match the thread title exactly. Because of this the search finds more threads but also... not all threads. I don't know how exactly the search algorithm works but yes, it's definitely not perfect. We would love to see an improved search with exact searching options and other things (for example setting a time period or pagination so it shows more pages) but unfortunately with all the other things that need to be fixed or added to MAL I don't see this coming anytime soon. |
