With the Covid, I had the time to watch and watch anime but now I have started like four anime (not airing) at the same time. And my question is, does it ruin the experience as a viewer?
Are you more of a 'one by one' or do you allow yourself to watch many anime (out of the airing) at the same time?

I know people often watch a 'serious' anime with a more relaxing one but I'm talking of watching anime like FMA and AOT at the same time.

My question is more for the experienced one, I'm pretty new to anime.

I personally don't do that, but I can see why people do it.

I only did that with airing anime. I don't really get the point of watching more than one if you're going to binge-watch them. Just do one then the other?

Though I guess I understand it if one of them didn't really catch your attention and you want to move to something else.

well i watch a single or atmost 2 anime at the same time because when u watching 5-6 anime u cant get into a single anime at a time so watching 1-2 at a time is the best option and watch seasonals as much as u want to

In my case, it is because this is different genre and I want more action or more romance or this or that. I guess it is better to watch one by one.

@javitaxy

Yeah, I tend to watch multiple anime that are airing. But lately, I've become more loose with the idea of watching more anime at a time.

Yeah, two is a good choice if you are quickly tired of watching the same thing.

Although I want to get into the habbit of watching multiple anime at a time, so the experience of watching anime won't get stale, since I can switch between different anime.

Have 13 shows in my watching list rn, 9 of them are airing, just one ep per week then, so let's exclude those. The other 4 are all finished shows but it's not like I'm watching all of them currently. This is how I watch these:

Dragon Ball - already seen this and Z but wanted to watch Super, so figured might as well get a full fledged recap of events, (since it's a rewatch + I watch dragon ball dub only) I only ever watch it when I need to do some light work or assignment so I can multitask (only possible cuz it's dubbed ofc) (very slow progress, only seen 8 episodes though I started more than a month ago lmao)

Detective Conan - I'm a big fan of long running anime because I feel like the more time I spend with the characters of a show, the more I grow attached. Since it's an episodic show, it's probably hard to binge so I just watch 1 ep per day (maybe 2 if it's a double ep case)

Fairy Tail and Irregular at Magic High School - Yes, now this is agreeably the definition of concurrently watching two shows. Mahouka is getting its next season next month so I figured might as well catch up plus always wanted to check out Fairy Tail and see what all the (albeit negative) talk was about. Plus I do feel Fairy Tail is much easier to enjoy when you're not consuming a lot of it together lol so having another show to watch helps.

I used to be able to watch strictly 1 show at a time not far long ago but it seems tougher now haha idk why

Thank you for this detailed answer. I think the more you watch anime the more you're able to watch many at the same time

It just depends of the person I guess, some people will prefer to focus on one anime at a time while others will watch several anime at the same time. You don't know in which category you fall unless you try both options

I'm currently watching 20 anime (16 seasonals and 4 binges) and I don't have the slightest difficulty to keep up with all of them
It's quite pleasant to have multiple choices you can make depending on your current mood

It is certainly ruined for me. I tend to do this when I'm done with a really good anime and I can't get out of the euphoria. It has ruined many good anime for me. I've often returned to these anime later where I have reevaluated my first impressions.

I do that, when I'm in the mood to just not binge something lmao. Like right now, I'm alternating between loads of shows because with some of them, I need to be in a certain mood to watch it. Also with school, I don't have the time to be binging shows right now.

if its weekly anime thats airing then thats something a else.

i didt used to watch multiple non airing shows at the same time but now i do. the reason is because i could be watching a show and i might fell bored liek 10 episodes free. so i might watch a an anime that has caught my eye recently. i usally finish that anime first then finish the first one.

it really depends on which anime I'm watching
if it is a fast paced anime I would probably binge watch it
but if the anime is slow paced I tend to watch multiple animes at the same time
just keep it simple

I tend to watch a bunch of different shows and just bounce around them depending on what I feel like watching at the time. This means a single show can take anywhere from a few days to several months before I finish but I'll get through it if the show is worth it.

I always watch a lot of anime in parallel (my watching and on hold list) since the first day I watched anime.

I have a habit of starting multiple animes. I'm trying to complete the animes on my watch list while also trying to catch up to airing animes. It's a bit much, but I hope that I can stop that habit D:

I used to watch seasonal anime pretty seriously for several years, watching up to 20-25 different airing anime during a season. But I came to the conclusion that I enjoy anime hell of a lot more when I'm watching one at a time, from start to finish. I can connect with characters more, plot has more meaning, I'm more invested in it. When I was watching 20-25 anime at a time, while they aired, most anime I'd finish an episode not really invested in characters, forgetting the plot often, watching, but not really absorbing it. When I first started watching the anime I kind of was the same way, one anime at a time, and I'm enjoying anime a lot more now watching one at a time (even though my list says I'm watching more than one, but that's because I kind of use that list as a reminder to what next I'm watching lol).

I mean tbh, I do that with the airing anime haha, but for all the animes that already finished airing I try not to go overboard with it. I only pick a few that I actually do want to watch for now, then when I finish one, I start on a new one. At least for now I'm pretty much caught up with all the airing animes that I want to watch, so there's no binge watching like crazy here lol. Hope you the best to keep your sanity in control. =)

Honestly, I was never able to watch multiple animes at the same time. I always tend to binge watch one show, then move on to the next one. If I start watching another anime on the side, I would just focus on that one before returning to what I was watching previously. It's a habit I've formed after I binged watched different series, one after the other, in a few days. I'm happy with it, but my completed list doesn't really increase that quickly lmao.

Usually im only watching airing anime and a completed anime.
So for example im watching God of Highschool, Re Zero S2 , Deca Dence, Fire Force S2, and Misfit, while also watching anime that are already completed on my list.

I may pick up another show to watch if the one I am mainly invested in starts to drag. I usually try to juggle no more than 3 at a time.

I don't really do it with the completed anime just for the seasonal ones I do it.

straight up can't do it. if an anime is boring or I find a better anime to watch, I'll put the first one on hold in order to focus on the second one. I won't watch both at the same time. it's different when it comes to reading manga and webtoons tho, I read many at once

previously (like earlier this year) i was gulity of starting a lot of anime, well, to the detriment of my experience. this way i would've lost focus easily tbh. at one point i had parallel-watched two different anime but on the other hand this lately i'm starting to like focusing on just one binged title at a time.

so recently i set a personal guideline that i binge one anime at a time, in succession throughout several days. example being, me running through SnK/AoT S1 the whole last week. (well actually i'm targetting completing all finished seasons of AoT this month so it helps with focus)

outside of that i can watch a number of not-to-be-binged, slow, laid-back, or currently airing anime every so and then. rn i have a magical girl morning and a mystery night; i'm watching no seasonals atm tho i'm planning to start some this fall 2020 for completionist reasons among other things
