Someone feels like they're losing interest in anime and manga despite being quarantined?

Maybe you are preoccupied? There is understandably a lot of turmoil in peoples lives right now and there are certainly bigger things going which can draw you out of immersion.

You probably have the corona. It'd be understandable though.

Yeah, when quarantine happened I thought: "Cool now I can watch all stuff I put off" but now I barely watch 3-4 episodes of one anime

Yeah its definitely not a good period at all but watching anime have always helped me to distract me from my real problems, I can not explain why it is not happening even now. Also why is your list empty?

Could just be regular burnout, exacerbated by the fact that you have the time to binge a lot of shit now. If that feeling of burnout builds up and then you're suddenly told you have extra free time to watch more anime that'd probably make it feel worse.

Could also be guilt that you actually have free time in these trying times.

Do the usual solutions for burnout, take a break, try other hobbies for now. Wanting to watch more anime will come back eventually.

You gotta run into something that'll captivate you. Not every anime is going to have this effect on you and that's completely fine. Just keep on picking at different ones until you bump into that anime that offers you the gratification you're seeking and surely, within no time you'll find yourself glued to the screen. Or you can always occupy yourself with something else for a bit; speaking from experience, a refresh may be what you need. Spend time on a different hobby and when/if you decide to return to this medium it'll be so refreshing and bring about so much nostalgia you can't help but go on a binge

My list is fully curated. I just keep all of my data internal unless I want to share it. There is no reason for Media Do and their partners to have a detailed dossier on my content consumption habits.

Try not to binge-watch. Have other things in your life that you can do.

Something cool you can do at home, if you have a yard, is to get yourself iNaturalist and use it to identify and record all the plants and animals you find. Snap photos of stuff with your phone and then upload it; you can try to use their AI-suggested identifications but if you really don't know what it is just post a picture of "ant" or "flowering plant" and other users will suggest IDs for you. It's a really handy thing right now and also gives you an excuse to go outside, literally.

If you play a musical instrument, you can also try practicing that, learning some new repertoire, streaming yourself playing it to some friends or even to strangers on the internet. Maybe play some boring exercises angrily to insult the virus for quarantining everything. Or heck, pick up an old instrument that you used to play, if it's still around.

Another idea is to rearrange your furniture, and screw around with the layout of your room/flat/house. Can even repaint it if you have paint. See if you can make some hilariously stupid arrangement of posters on your wall. After all, you still have access to the internet so you can always dump your eyesore onto unsuspecting strangers on the internet. Or maybe it's a good time to figure out a way to blast Symphogear songs at your neighbors.

And finally, if you've only got your computer that you can use, try gaming. There are craptons of free games these days, and even if you have a potato there are games that will run on it. Alternatively, if you wanna do something that doesn't involve following another story, but might be a productive use of your time, try learning a new programming or scripting language. Lots of handy shit you can do if you know your way around that stuff.

Do these things in between your episodes of anime. This will help you avoid burnout, that feeling where you're basically just clogging your life with entertainment media and your mind feels numb. You don't want to make yourself sick of a hobby you oughta be enjoying.

It's normal. Or rather, it is in my case lol. I have really heavy years where I watch a lot of anime and some really light years. As an example: 2017 I completed 150 anime, 2018 I only completed 45, 2019 I completed 115, and this year I've only completed 12 so far. Sometimes it has to do with what goes on in your life... in 2017 I had surgery so I was off for a couple months and was bored and had lots of time, but I worked a lot in 2018. In 2019 I was preparing myself for an upcoming surgery and needed an outlet so I watched more. I had my surgery in January of 2020 and I just have been more focused on my health lately then watching anime. It's completely normal to watch less some years than others. Doesn't mean you don't still love anime, it just means you probably have another outlet like gaming or reading or just hanging out with friends or family.

I mean, I thought I'd have burnout but instead I just decided to rewatch older shows and appreciate them more with the newfound time I have now instead of before, when I would watch an anime and move on, now I get to return to anime I orginally didn't like and enjoy nowadays.

Definitely feeling like this. I was having this feeling since late December and I've hardly watched anything after that. I had a pretty long break in 2015-2018 so seems like it's time for another break

The novelty of it is wearing off? You're enjoying it less and less? Just stop watching it then, do whatever you want.

Yeah me too, it happened to me in 2016 and 2018 too, idk why but i didn't watch more than 10 episodes in like 4 or 6 months, it's weird but after that and for no reason I started to watch twice as many episodes than i usually watch. I think it's not bad to take a break once in a while

Don't know what you are talking about, the amount of shows you have watched is something I do in a few month and done that for the last 4 year.

Maybe you shoud start exploring more genre instead.

I used to be an "anime fan" years back but it's more than I like some media regardless of the medium. If I can't get into a show after a few episodes I drop it, because you're supposed to put your best foot forward first.

well, I mean by my standards. I've never watched more than 15-20 episodes a day anyway.

Understandable! I feel like that too, although I have online classes and Persona 5 Royal to worry about so those have been top priority.

If anything, these times make me appreciate how i was able to fit it in before. Like I would go to 5 classes in a day in-person and still watch anime all night? damn

Sometimes we loose interest in things. And that’s just part of life. I’m not as into anime as I was when I got really into it during the summer of 2018. But that’s okay. During the summer of 2019 I got a seasonal job, and I work 5 days a week with passion, and manage to impress my higher ups. Was not watching anime as much and cause of the stresses of my junior year I kind of lost focus except for the weekly Mha(Good reward for getting your stuff done). I’m kind of getting into it again, but even then I still have some other work to do despite the fact that all my core general Ed highschool classes are over with except for two online college courses that I’m on the last week of.(And a dual credit painting). Things that interests us comes and go.

I get burnt out often cos I always go through stages where I binge a tonne of anime and then I will not watch anything for 3 months or so. I am currently on my anime binge which I am glad about, as it is deffo come at the right time. Try and mix up genres and try not to watch similar anime after each other also try out genres that you may not of watched much before.

I'm initiating my "weeb career" so I'm watching more season animes this year, but I'm still lazy to watch completed animes, even the ones who only have 12 episodes.

Tone down the anime and mango consumption OP. Watch, do something else and your interest will be back eventually.

YES. I've been feeling like this. I can barely stomach anime anymore, not even ones that I adore. I kinda miss the feeling, though. Growing out of anime just feels odd, like there's still tons of stuff that I've got to watch.

Yeah I've been binging for 5 weeks straight so the excitement of finally catching up on anime has worn off. I'm burnt out but not sick of anime per se, just need a change of pace is all. Not the first time this has happened. After switching it up with other activities (manga, novels, other shows), my interest will naturally come back.
