The official YouTube channel for the television anime of Kei Toume's Sing "Yesterday" for Me (Yesterday o Utatte) manga began streaming the first teaser trailer for the anime on Wednesday. The anime's staff also revealed that the series will have 12 television episodes, plus an additional six episodes that will only be available via streaming. AbemaTV will begin an exclusive advance streaming of the latter six episodes after the main series concludes.

I hope this is immediately after cuz I wouldn't want to wait too long to get the end

the chapters themselves aren't too short. the thing is that story wise there is not much going on. So that way in anime more chapters will be covered in a single episode. Trust me from someone who read it, the anime will benefit this way.

Yeah, the story's pace/content requires more than the normal 12 episodes.

Why assume it'll be a full adaptation?

Because nowadays, finished mangas (most of the past decade) often tend to receive a complete adaptation, whether from a renowned author or not, such as Karakuri Circus, Blade of the immortal, banana fish, Piano no mori, Parasyte...

Toume Kei is a renowned mangaka of the times, I do not doubt that the adaptation of her manga follows this type of planning, since the ideal would be 24 episodes, in rare cases, I see that old mangoes get an appropriate adaptation, like Fruits Basket and Jojo's Bizarre Adventures.

what about fruits basket? I haven't watched it, but despite being based off complete material, they decided to have it be multiple seasons instead of one

It's still way better to have a full adaptation in multiple seasons rather than a rushed adaptation (Blade of the Immortal, Karakuri Circus) which just ruins the anime sometimes

Shaft did it all the way in 2009 for Bakemonogatari. It is sure making a comeback tho.

With 110 chapters and 18 episodes, that's about 6 chapters per episode. With the type of manga it is there's actually not much happening and it could be doable, but I very much doubt it's doable without cutting out some material. It's been so long since I've read the manga that I don't remember if there were any parts that I'd be fine with them just removing, might have to just read the manga alongside the anime now.

Oh, I didn't know about the 18 episode length.

Great news, I'm looking forward to the first episode tomorrow morning even more now!

Yeah in fact this just makes it better for westerners because we get the normal airing schedule and then a rush of episodes. I don't mind it at all. I'm totally fine with anime studios coming up with more ways to fund their work.

But then again it's way better to have a 'rushed' full adaptation, than having a season 1 and then never a 2.

Just going to back this up as a manga reader as well. I adore its source material but I can even admit chapters are slow at times (which I didn't mind per say, but I digress). They can definitely get a good adaptation out in eighteen episodes.

110 chapters sounds like a lot but it has only 11 volumes so there’s around 0.6 volume per episode. usually anime with 12 episodes cover 5-6 manga volumes so almost half of the volume per episode. as you can see it’s pretty similar. so i believe that the adaptation won’t skip too much scenes

Yeah the first episode adapted 4 whole chapters, and even with dialogue being cut, if felt rushed

I actually feel like this is something id like more of, sometimes a weird episode count can work better than rushing for 1 cour or dragging things out for 2 cour.

There are good chunks of the manga that can be cut out without affecting the main story. So I'd prefer they cut these parts out instead of rushing.

Thing is, the original manga is paced in arcs that each episode can cover as much material in 24 mins (according to how many chapters are there in the arc).

At this rate being 18 episodes, I feel like the minority here, but a full adaptation is possible with rushed content (as evident by the first few episodes so far).

Nevertheless, really looking forward to what's in store.
