What anime that you dropped that left you feeling like you had wasted your time?

I dropped most anime at the first episode. Sometimes the first few minutes, or halfway, if nothing interest me/hook me.
I usually can tell very early whether I'd enjoy it or not.
And in case of romance anime with multiple love interest, I spoil myself about the end game so I don't get disappointed at the ending.
So, I rarely feel like I just wasted my time when I drop anime because I mostly drop them very early. And all anime that I finished are anime that I enjoyed to various degree.

And in case that I watched a fair amount of episodes before I decided to drop it, I don't really consider the episodes I watched up until I dropped it was a waste because the fact that I watched it that far meant that I must have had enjoyed it to some extent at least.

EXCEPT, THIS ONE TIME.

The anime was Juuni Taisen.

Granted, my only hook was the bunny guy in a survival game like plot (which is very risky, I should have spoiled myself whether the bunny guy survived or not). Each main character had their own focused episode in which their back story was revealed. Naturally, I expected the bunny guy would eventually get his own episode, and so I decided to just looking forward to that episode. Turned out, he was THE ONLY character to not have any episode focused on him and THE ONLY character that hadn't given any back story AT ALL. Wow. I felt like I just wasted my time. I couldn't care less about the other characters nor the story. I dropped it at 10th. It was 12 episodes anime. Yet, I felt like I just wasted my time SO BIG, like, wow. Even I didn't feel like that when I dropped Inuyasha Kanketsu-hen at episode 15th (because I enjoyed the ride), or when I dropped Shield Hero at 8th (because I enjoyed the ride).

I got my lesson. I'm more careful in picking up anime from then on especially if the hook is only one character AND they are in a situation where they could die at any moment (and they have no MC plot armor).

I don't drop anime.Maybe I am a masochist.I believe the ideology that an anime may turn good if it's given time.Just look at black clover and it turns into a good shounen anime in the latest arcs.
But yeah some shows were awful and I felt like I wasted mine time.I got the urge to drop Choyoyu because it was just insulting mine intelligence with every episode. When I finished the show,I felt like a heavy burden was lifted of my shoulders.

Fairy tail, I watched something around 68 episodes. I dropped it and I realized that I wasted my summer vacation.
It was good at the beginning and enjoyed it, but the overused Nakama power and I heard that it is full of fanservice, made me drop it.

same here, I sometimes spoil myself if I was watching a harem anime or a romance anime with 2 love interest, because I don't want to waste my time watching harem/romance anime with my favorite boy/girl not ending up with his/her love interest.

Attack on Titan, I should've dropped it on the first season, but gave it a chance and stopped watching at season 2, I found it pretty boring and predictable.

Probably shoulda dropped one piece way before 828 eps/929 chapters
I kinda trapped myself with the idea of "I've already invested so much time, it would be a waste not to finish it".
At the end I simply couldn't stand watching anymore and ended up dropping it anyway

I don't drop series either, even if I have to back off and rest before slamming headfirst into them again, but I have an undying hatred for Kuttsukiboshi and feel nearly as infuriated by Kanokon. Both of them literally felt like I would have done better with my time by poking myself in the eye with a sharp stick. Sometimes the pain lets me know I'm alive, I guess.

Monster. The pacing is absurdly slow, and at one point where it seems like something is finally going to pay off, the characters just randomly go off on a tangent. Once that happened I persisted for a few more episodes and gave up. I felt like it was a 20 episode story that had been padded out with so much fluff. Something like that could keep me interested enough if it had a nice art direction or good animation but it didn't have those ingredients either.

For me , it is Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka. It is one of the first anime I watched, and when I got to episode 10, I decided to look up who the dude ended up with. Turns out, he ends up with his sister and not the main love interest, which pissed me off so much that I decided to forgo the final 2 episodes. This taught me to look up the endings of romantic shows so that I don't get screwed like this ever again.

God eater - this was back before I dropped shows regularly if I lost interest in it. It was an absolute slog to plow through 5 episodes before losing my mind.

Persona 5 the animation - worthless

Tokyo Ghoul:re - I don't know why I thought this franchise could redeem itself after the disaster of root A.

I usually don't drop, and plan on watchimg all my dropped animes.

Among all the animes I've seen the one that comes to mind fist as awaste of time is Miracle Shoujo Limit-chan,

It wasn't interesting, it wasn't funny, the transformation sucked (that's really important for me in mahou shoujos), it wasn't even bad enough to be an example of things not to watch. It was just there, 25 episodes that felt painfully neverending.

Freaking Seikaisuru Kado. It was never good by any means, but the plot and idea of the show was so engaging I kept watching. But by the end, they totally ruined everything about the show and kinda took a cop out approach. I literally made it to the last episode and turned it off before it was finished because it wasn't even worth finishing it.

I get where you are coming from Tropisch, because when I first watched AoT, I didn't think much of it. But I kept watching it, and boy, am I glad I did. I PROMISE you, AoT is ANYTHING but predictable. I thought I had the entire thing nailed until season 3. Seriously. S3 pt. 2 is now one of my favorite anime seasons of all time. It's worth getting there. I'm not even that into Shounens.

If you only watching season 2 figured everything out without looking at spoilers, then huges props to you. But unless you got spoiled, prepare to get your expectations subverted.

I have only dropped two in my entire span of watching anime. Those are Fire Force and Studio Deen's adaptation of Fate/stay night. I stated why I dropped Fate/stay night in a previous thread, but the gist of it was that the lighting issues in it distracted me from being able to enjoy anything regarding the plot, characters, or the story. I eventually checked out the light novel instead.

For Fire Force, I dropped that because I was watching it with a friend who was all into the series (she said: "It's done by the same guys who did Jojo, so you're bound to like it!"), but after a couple of episodes I just found myself getting bored of the series altogether. I don't know if it was pacing or that things were predictable, but it didn't reel me in quite like the other series that I've watched did.

I'm also considering dropping Persona 5's anime because I've heard a lot of bad stuff about it and honestly prefer the game overall.

Damn, you dropped it at the worst time possible. The creator's intentions do a complete 180 after episode 20 and it starts getting serious. Those 20 episodes ain't even the same series. Wish more people were aware of this. If you like a good battle shounen like your favourites suggest, you are sorely missing out on some good shit. It got the formula down to perfection. As someone who has thoroughly enjoyed a lot of battle shounen titles if you check my list, it's definitely up there for me in terms of quality and entertainment easily! Underrated af!

When I dropped a series I never really cared much, even if they were a waste of time I am not super invested in anime anymore and it's mostly just a time waster for me anyway so I don't get annoyed when I have to drop a show. The only exceptions that actually did piss me off though were Tokyo ESP, www.Working!!, and Dagashi Kashi.

With Tokyo ESP I was such a big fan of Ga-Rei: Zero, I just randomly took a chance with that show and enjoyed the hell out of it. Hated the manga, but the anime holds a special place in my heart. I thought this show would be cool, same studio and mangaka, but then I found out like 9 episodes in that the mangaka who made the awful Ga-Rei manga did not actually make Ga-Rei: Zero and it was an anime original prequel. Tokyo ESP had such potential too.

www.Working!! is in the same vein, there was something fun about Working!! that I could not explain. It shouldn't have been as fun as it was, I should have seen it as just a typical SoL that I completely skip, but it had a lot of charm and was a joy to watch. www.Working!! on the other hand is exactly what I'd thought the previous seasons would be like before I had given them a shot, with the added bonus of just being produced poorly. Jokes were repetitive, transitions between the scenes felt off and kinda just killed the show's momentum, and the characters were just not on the same level as the original cast.

Dagashi Kashi's manga was not my favorite, but I enjoyed it for what it was. If I wanted to waste like 30 minutes of time before my friends got here or before I had to go to work, I'd read it and have a little bit of fun. The anime SOMEHOW makes the already average manga that was a guilty pleasure into something so much more mediocre. The sound design was just awful, the voice actors and actresses seemed to not give a shit and just phone it in, and the comedic timing was not there at all. This one really grates on me because I just start thinking "what the fuck was I expecting?"

Don't know if this will ever get you back into it, but the series changes more drastically than any anime out there. You've got some people dropping it because they want that action thriller goodness that was season 1 back, and people who didn't think much of it loving it because it's got a lot more value and priority in departments it seemed to have almost zero interest in before, like the story, which is funnily enough it's strongest aspect by a long shot now.

I generally drop very early something that I don't feel like watching anymore, so the time lost doesn't feel weighty, but there are some exceptions, and one of them was Gintama.

With 26 episodes completed, it's the farthest I've ever gone with a dropped title, and it's a significant amount that did made me feel that 15 or so hours of my life were used for nothing.

Pfft. You missed the ending of the show, which clarifies the plot. It's just 2 more episodes. You have all the hours for watching big shonen anime but not just a mere 60 minutes of your life to finish 2 episodes? Might as well just finish it off.

With the reason why I watch the show at all gone, I don't care anymore about the plot. I don't feel like I miss anything. Unless there is something more about the bunny dude, I don't care about that show anymore.

Trinity Seven. Nothing good about it, i don't feel like it at all.

The characters were bland and their designs are weird. It almost feels like the designer copy paste their face and make it a lil bit different. So little that i could barely notice the difference.

The story weren't all that good. And pretty much trashy with how the ecchi is all over the place.

I am not like you, I don't like to drop a show just by first impression. The reason is because I prefer new good things than usual good things. And I think we as human are not that flexible to accept and appreciate the greatness of the new, sometimes it took times. I experienced it by myself when I first watched Mushishi, LotGH and probably Gintama.

But anyway about your question, it happens when that anime is long and it has good reviews by people. Recently I regret wasting my time watched Kimetsu no Yaiba, I really should had dropped it sooner after one or two episode lol, because it was clear from the very beginning how stupid and generic it's story.

Well, it doesn't mean I refuse to watch new things. I sometimes tried new anime out of whim (by new I mean like, a genre I normally wouldn't watch). But it's all still the same process from there. If nothing hook me, I drop. The hook can be anything, from character to mystery to plot.

Yes, while you can see whether you'd enjoy an anime or not based on other people's review, I think you should consider other element too. For example, I probably wouldn't watch a harem show no matter how good the reviews are. I might try one episode only (out of whim) and see from there. Or try research a bit whether or not the anime have something that might be a turn off (in my case, female tsundere is an instant turn off).

Well, except Juuni Taisen, at least the other anime in my dropped list (that I bothered enough to put there at all that is bcs I've watched at least more than two eps) was a decent ride until I decided to drop it. I don't really considered them a waste tbh.

yeah predictable is annie. but the motivation?
the other titan shifter ?
why has a colossal titans in the wall? in ending 25 episode
grisha jaeger basement?
grisha jaeger missing ?
marco death ?
why the colossal and armored titan appear and what are they motivation?

I get it.The show isn't predictable. That shit is in mine favourites.I never had such thoughts.AoT was like mine fifth anime.I didn't have the brain to process such questions.I was like 16 and the only shows which I enjoyed were the long running shounen.

Shining Hearts was so boring because in 3 episodes it was just about girls and a guy making bread. I don't know if anything else happened.

Maria Holic I just hated the gimmick of the lesbian girl in an all school girls

Blazblue Central Fiction Was so confusing that it really hurt my brain trying to understand anything and even the beach episode was bad.

Mekaku City Actors It was just talking talking and talking even if it was made by Shaft it was just talking

World Trigger: Too Long. The animation was ugly but I used to watch it with some friends during google hangouts for a laugh but it sucked.

Seitokai Yakuindomo: The same sexual joke repeated over and over. It is funny the first episodes but it gets stupid after 3 thousand times

One of the anime that is airing this season... Boku no Tonari... Too lazy to finish the title. Anyway it was insanely boring... It's just 3 bumbling morons doing nothing.. It bores me to death.

One Piece and Gintama. Watched over 50 episodes of Gintama and over 200 episodes of One Piece only to end up getting bored enough of them to drop them both....

Lovelyโ˜…Complex,is it. I actually feel what you described in regards to finished anime more often than dropped ones. But after 17 or so episodes "Lovelyโ˜…Complex" seemed like a cruel method to kill time. After all hope is the cruellest of tortures for it prolongs the pain of its participant, me in this case. I patiently waited for this anime to make its point, to make its destination known, or at least it's journey worth undergoing. Guess what, there was no point to be made. No destination worth reaching, and the journey itself was a slow demise.
