| Well, there wasn't much chance for Kokichi to survive this, though I appreciate that he got a little more chance to shine (even if it wasn't close) than simply losing due to Domain Expansion. Domain Expansion is one aspect of the battle system that I'm not quite sure I like. Namely because it's functionality means that victory essentially boils down to power level. If you have Domain Expansion and the other person doesn't, you win. If you have both have stronger Domain Expansion, the one with the stronger one wins. With how it was explained, there really isn't much need for strategy once one of the players has it, it's just an insta-win. Which is why I'm glad that it hasn't really been used as such yet. The solution with Itadori punching his way into Mahito & Sukuna saving the day was a clever use of it, that made wise use of the characters & what's been established (Sukuna's sole warning) and the 100% hit chance of a Curse Technique to create a satisfying rescue of Nanami. Here, establishing Simple Domain's as a counter to it can help alleviate the feeling that it's just an insta-win as well, and it certainly did here. Mahito had to employ some level of strategy here (timing his explosion & releasing his Domain to trick Kokichi into thinking he was dead), rather than just winning because he had Domain Expansion. So far my worries about it, haven't came to fruition, so JJK has impressed me on that front. The ending scene with Miwa was pretty standard stuff and it didn't really hit me emotionally at all, but the execution of it was fine enough I guess. Shibuya arc starts for real next chapter, I sort of doubt it'll live up to the hype that everyone gave it but I do very much expect it to be the best of JJK, so I'm looking forward to it. |
| RIP Mechamaru. At least he went out a badass - I never expected that he would be fighting solo vs Mahito (and Geto). I know it wouldn’t make sense for Mahito to die offscreen for Yuuji gang, but I hoped that Mechamaru could at least do some permanent damage to Mahito because Mahito’s been avoiding any damage too many times now. One thing I don’t understand is how has Mechamaru “seen it all”. How would he know about Sukunas Domain Expansion, for example? That last page sent shivers down my spine. Finally, The Shibuya Incident. |

| Mahito’s Territorial Expansion definitely strikes Mechamaru to the deed and he can’t even go straight up. Now 10 days from Hallloween is an estimated day for Mahito to recover and Mechamaru surprised attack through stabbing in Mahito’s back was very expected but still it gave me a heart attack lol, it looks so disgusting but well it’s one way for Mechamaru to unease Mahito’s movement. Shinkage Style Technique: Simple Territory! was introduced and it must be something prominent to use this as his last technique as it does have every special ability neutralized but that’s used dependently, unfortunately for Mechamaru, his own Ultimate Transformation he inherited (physically) got destroyed by Mahito. Mechamaru used his last Territory by stabbing Mahito’s unusual form directly! Now I feel genuinely bad for Mina, I thought she’s the sleepy one amongst the Kyoto students but she has a buddy who already disappeared and her saying “It’s more painful when one of us disappears”, RIP Mechamaru, you will forever be missed, I straight up cried because we know what Mechamaru wished for which is to be able to join his friends, unfortunately, his life went short. Now it’s pretty much a straight up advantage for Mahito’s instinct to start off the real show. Let the Shibuya Arc spark in! |
