I think it's quite good, very good actually...

This mangaka's art is among the best out there, his portrayal of the emotions and moral conflict of the mc are great.

It's quite his ironic fate that the first friend he makes is the first he has to kill.
And the boy was innocent.

If Charles had killed the lion, Jean's father's opponents would not have targeted him and Jean would have never been charged with anything.

It was a complete set up the Bible to charge the boy as a heretic when the kid had done nothing but what he was made to do by his father.
And Charles would never kill anyone if he was not forced to either.

He's a boy being forced to become a killer against his will.

It's very sad.

I do confess, I had some trepidation about reading a story about a man who killed some of my ancestors - people I am related to by direct bloodlines.
But I'm not feeling it's him responsible for it at all, so I'm ok with it. The real person did execute many many innocent people like the boy he just killed for no reason other than the behest of their political enemies.

What do you find bad about it? I don't find anything bad about it. In fact, I think it's masterpiece level.

Truly fascinating read so far. Needless to mention the absolutely stunning art, but the story too is already shaping up well.

Ah that's gotta be painful.

Love the allusion to cutting Atlus' thigh when he was meant to cut the nape of the neck. That's gotta be a horrifying experience for both Chartois and Charlot.

I've noticed it's not all that well relieved, I'm personally enjoying it thus far.

Well to be honest it is kind of a weak argument that they decided it was a big chance to target him because a lion wasn't killed. i mean if the wanted that guy out of the way there was no reason not to try to incriminate him even without a lion.

Yea that was actually grotesque. Id be pissed in my afterlife if I went out that way. Wasnt expecting anything other than a botched execution though. In order to execute properly, you kinda have to devoid yourself of emotion beforehand. The Atlas imagery is great, Shinichi always cooks with his use of symbolic imagery.
man.
