| I don't know, I have personally never seen comments like that, and I have interest in traps. So I suspect that you only visited the wrong places. There are obviously going to be some sexist people in anime fandom, just as everywhere, so there are likely some trap fans among them. Either way I wouldn't give it much thought, if there are few opinions like that, regardless of how stupid or backwards they may be. As long as it's not too much. And since I have never encountered them, I think it's not. You could say that it's fine according to normal distribution. It's also possible that some of those are trolls or someone trying to make jokes and failing at it. I'm not sure why correlate this with traps, however. Sexism doesn't have anything to do with them, and I'm sure you can find quite a few people attracted to females that are sexist, as well as some females that are sexist towards men. The less heed these people, from all camps, are given, the better. People get way too easily offended these days. That's one thing that I will never understand. |

Pretty sure I already said why I don't think it's an alt in regards to him trying to have a normal conversation with ako, every regular knows that won't happen. Only people who encounter him for the first time try that and if this was an alt it wouldn't be the first time on AD. But just in general I like to give people the benefit of the doubt if I'm not sure because I'd rather take 100 trolls seriously than dismiss one serious person as a troll. I just don't like the sarcasm culture of the internet and never being or taking anything seriously because it can be seen as a 'weakness' that gets exploited by trolls and whatnot, so I try to 'boycott' that culture as much as I can. Unless I'm 100% sure someone is trolling (which I usually only am if I know them and it's not my first encounter) I'll assume they're sincere until proven otherwise. I'm not gonna give up my values of taking people seriously and replying to opinions and arguments in earnest because of some abstract 'fear' of being 'humiliated' by falling for a troll. I pity those people who are afraid of being serious and taking people seriously, and I feel like if I let the existence of trolls change how I react to the average post, they win. They win the moment you start having 'they're trolling' as your default assumption for anything that doesn't agree with you or doesn't make sense to you. It all just leads down a path where noone takes anyone seriously unless maybe they agree with them. I'd rather be wrong 99% of the time than go down that path. And it's too depressing to take an open-minded sentence like 'looking for somebody to change my mind' as an automati signal for trolling. That's like saying I should see anyone who isn't a total dick that just wants to use the forums as an echo chamber as a troll. I'm not ready to do that. It'd just generate a negative feedback loop if you start assuming anyone who says reasonable, open-minded stuff like 'I'm willing to listen if someone wants to change my mind about this topic' is trolling and only take people seriously when they're being overconfident assholes about their opinion. That's not a world I want to live in. I still believe there are actually people who want their opinions and perceptions to be challenged like OP is claiming to. I'd like to think I'm one of them and I know I'm not a troll, at least most of the time. So there must be others, right? |

As for "looking for somebody to change my mind" thing, well again I don't my to talk about how I think about it but to me, a discussion shouldn't be about "changing your opinion". Maybe that's just me however I find the statement very counterproductive. Well, the next thing is that it doesn't matter whether OP specifically is serious or not as long as some people might realistically think what they claim to think. I'm not writing posts just for OP. I just think it can't hurt to have some serious, reasonable replies in a thread because many people will click on it and read it and why not provide a reasonable reply for them to latch onto if they want? I enjoy writing about and analysing almost any topic anyway, definitely more than I do shitposting and trolling so it's not like it's a sacrifice for me. More like, if I'm gonna write something anyway because I enjoy writing and it's a habit of mine to browse forums and reply to shit, why not just try and be serious about it (most of the time)? Maybe someone will read and appreciate it, maybe not, either way I did my thing. |
