Can you watch this if you’ve only watched the first arc of the series?

Ive watched only the first arc of SAO. I dont want to go thru all of SAO to get to this one, however.

The reason im even posting this is becuz i saw some users actually suggesting that I should simply “watch the first arc then skip the rest and watch Alicization next”
So, should I or maybe not?

Unfortunately no.

Because the arcs are rather relevant in Alicization to an certain extent because they built up to that point of the arc.

Just watch the whole thing or just join the plebs "only the first arc is good then it goes downhill" and do everyone a favor: DON'T WATCH ANYTHING. There are enough people shitting on this series even without having watched it seriously, or at all.

Honestly, it's so idiotic to think people would skip stuff to get to a certain part of the story. My advice would be to watch the entirety of the anime even season 2 and then watch season 3. Or you could go the better route and that is reading the light novel.

However, skipping is not a good thing, at very least skim through the anime then so you won't be lost in season 3.

My guideline would be :

Watch the First Season episode 1-13, then skip the rest if you want or watch it for pure enjoyment (depending on the watcher)

Season 2 :

Must watch the Phantom Bullet Arc, for important pieces of plot and nice action scenes.

Skip Excalibur arc if you want (Don't skip if you like Klein)

Then prostern yourself with the Mother's Rosario Arc ! (Best arc, imo)
