The second part was really great even though the novel had more feels for me.

The first part was also nice with everyone being back together and so but Kotomi's speech about parallel universes felt really out of place her (there wasn't anything like this as Kotomi wasn't even present there).
Really, I kinda understand they wanted to remind us of parallel dream-world we keep seeing ever since the start of this story and give us false hope somehow but in that scene it didn't work well.

But otherwise, I like it, they portrayed the ending despair pretty well.

The sequence lead up to Ushio's birth is probably one of the most beautiful thing I've seen in anime.

Already knew Nagisa was going to die so her death lost some impact.

when I first found out what would happen to her, I was actually happy because I didn't like her back then but After Story made me love her and now I am really sad T_T
Exactly my thoughts. I always used to like Nagisa least of all Clannad girls, but with After Story I actually started to like her more every episode.

And jeez, how that ending theme ruined the mood, yet again.

WTF i also feel like this.at first i hoped tomoya loves kyuo or tomoyo and really didnt like nagisa but after her death i felt so sad and hoped her back to life
so sad :((

just watched it last night, I was so emotional I couldn't fall asleep. I was in tears at the end even now I still feel emotional at Nagisas death. Tomoya has got to have the worst luck ever, and I thought Yuuichi from Kanon had it bad.

Im a guy and I put off watching Clannad for 7 years because i was afraid to watch this scene and episode after some spoilers. 7 years later, i decided to give it a go 1 week ago after quitting my job.

I'm a 27 and i thought i would be much stronger to watch it... i was... so... wrong

Well I teared through many episodes but didn't cry. Guess that is an achievement. Glad i watched it to the end. Clannad is truly a work of emotional art and epitome of all feels

I got spoiled about Nagisa's death the first time I watched this and the scene still broke me, now that I'm rewatching it is more of the same, it's so painful, yet so beautiful.

It's still so worth mentioning the first half, especially with Sunozaki asking Tomoya how it feels to be a father, these things always look so far away until they actually happen, it's incredible.

This episode has one terrible thing tho, fuck that ED, I skip it everytime because it just totally ruins the mood, they should have just kept the Dango ED of S1. Other than that this is one of the best anime episodes in general IMO.

I'm pretty late to the party on this one, but this isn't typically my type of anime so I'm fairly new to the genre. It has been great so far. Anyway, about the episode...

Whyyy?... WHYYYY?! Nagisa was my favorite! She was so cute and sweet. I don't think I've cried this hard from a show in a long time. I accidentally spoiled that for myself before I even started watching Clannad. But despite the fact that I knew it was going to happen, it still hit me pretty hard. Tomoya's reaction to the birth of Ushio and the death of Nagisa was truly beautiful and tragic. To be honest I was kind of mad at the show for killing her. What did Tomoya do to deserve this? I thought this as I stared blankly at my monitor for a few minutes until I could start the next episode. Despite this being the most tragic thing in the show so far, I'm loving it and I'm anxious to see how this ends. I was so stunned by this I had to share my experience right away.

I knew she was going to die, but I thought she would have the chance to spend time with Ushio and Tomoya, you know, as a family...

Also, WHO THE F*** THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO KEEP THE ENDING??

Yeah, that's the main problem when something is known as sad, you will always expect the worst and kinda ruins the moment. You are getting into the best part (at least for me), I hope you won't be disappointed.

Yes, especially with Clanand which, for anime fans, is universally known for being a tearjerker. Although, when it comes to sad series, spoilers usuallly haven't had too much impact in my enjoyment.

As pointed out already, WTF is with that ending song? Come on guys, get a clue. In "NANA", which is another tear-jerking "starting the adult life" story you should see BTW, they nailed it every time.

I think this is one of the saddest episodes from this anime surely. I just didn't expect that she died like that.

Tomoya, you shouldn't say that you and Nagisa should never have met. You were a major part of her life. She wouldn't have made the friends she did, never had her one-woman play, never would have live her life to its fullest. 😢

You were everything in the world to her. She gave so much of herself and her love to you, and you just throw that back at her like that? You selfish bastard. She knew the risks she was taking and chose to have the baby so that, even if she were gone, a piece of her would always be with you. She sacrificed everything for you. 😭

This is depressing. I don't have much words for this episode. From an episode perspective, it was nothing short of amazing (except for the ED that killed everything).

But personally, I just don't know what to say. "It's so sad" doesn't do it enough justice. This is downright tragedy. Is she really dead? It's not clear yet for me...

I kinda hate myself for not being able to cry after watching this. It feels like I have a lot of emotions and feelings piled up from this episode but all I can do is just tear a bit. I wish I could've cried.

Please, hoping for a miracle for Nagisa :(

Siggghhh ... I knew this was going to happen, yet it still tore my heart. The way they animated the expressions and the VA was so very well done - you could just hear the absolute panic and horror in Tomoya’s voice as he kept babbling, trying desperately to keep Nagisa hanging on there with his words. It was heartbreaking.
Went through a couple of tissues here, for sure. :(

Absolutely agree. What a terrible way to close an otherwise heart-moving episode. Truly a stupid decision by the studio.

That aside, damn I teared up. That was a good episode. Part of me hopes she didn't die.

I feel as though the animation segments that have the only girl in the world and the robot have to fluent animation that it doesn't look right compared to the rest of the episode. I get that the animators did that to make it all mysterious and stuff but it just doesn't look well compared to the animation of the rest of the episode.

If I didn't dislike Nagisa, I might've cried during the episode, but she's so annoying how she acts like five year old despite being 18+ that I honestly don't really care what happens to her.

Well, talk about awful timing... for both Nagisa's delivery and the inclusion of such lively ED to absolutely kill the atmosphere.

Honestly, I didn't feel anything since Nagisa never impressed me as a character but hey, I admit the sequence with her dying was nicely executed.

I'd like to remind everyone that over the course of 5 episodes Nagisa married Tomoya, had a child and fucking died. I could tell this series was rushing the relationship between Tomoya and Nagisa, but I wasn't expecting it to go this quickly.

This episode had a few nice things going for it, but overall I can't say I was that impressed. I think I have to go against the consensus by saying that Nagisa's death was completely tactless. It tries to convince the audience that she and Tomoya had a close relationship without having the mettle to prove it beforehand. I think the most interesting thing about this episode is that Ushio is going to grow up in a situation similar to Tomoya's. Given how apathetic Tomoya has been this season, I'm worried about how things will turn out for her.

One of the most emotional and beautiful episodes i've ever seen.

Everything about this episode was perfection in my eyes from start to finish. I'm unsure whether she's still alive or she passed away but I can't stop crying... It's been so long since I last cried like this and I wasn't expecting it to be this episode when I first loaded it up.

One small nitpick I have to say about this 10/10 episode is that the use of the ending (ending as in the ending song + visuals, not the story conclusion) was TERRIBLE. One of the worst uses of an ending i've ever seen or heard.

I wasn't a huge fan of the ending song to begin with but the ending song's tone and vibe does not fit the tone of the episode at all and I have no idea why they kept it in especially with the way the episode ended.

I knew all along that it would turn out to be like this. If only Tomoya would consult to Nagisa's parents before having their first time. They should consider Nagisa very weak body before wanting a baby. It is too premature to consider that far since in one of the previous episode, Sunohara also worried about his decison being too fast become dad. The last minute of Nagisa dying is handled well enough though. Bit sad but fine i guess not really tearjerking to me.

I hoped they wouldn't do this, I ignored all the flags, but they did it.

Nagisa and her relationship with Tomoya was the entire reason I started watching Clannad After Story, if I knew they would kill Nagisa I would have stopped watching after I finished Clannad.

That last line from Tomoya, "I should never have met her", is the most selfish line I've ever seen in my life, after everything they've been through how can you say that.

I don't even care what happens anymore, so might as well see how things play out.
