I have to say Lord freeza..
He only wanted to do what's right..and get rid of this shit people who are ruining beautiful planets..

He was cold but caring...and make his henchmen stronger..he rescued them,.gave them a job,means to travel the universe and friends and comrades..

He didn't deserve to die... He saved the saiyans from the tyrant king Vegeta and monarchy..he killed them because they were a danger to themselves as they couldn't control their power and transformation...

It was back when i was a kid like 7 or something and told the guys why can't freeza come and take care of the school like planet Vegeta after i forgot we had a test...
So somebody replied he's dead,....i felt really bad..

The problem with saying what is, in my opinion, the saddest anime death is that it's a series where you wouldn't really expect anyone to die, so even saying "Spoilers for [series name]" could be considered a spoiler. :\

It's not even a major character death either, LOL. It's a character who is introduced and dies within the span of one episode, but it broke me more than any other character death in fiction.

I've had that happen in life itself, just to mention someone that you casually would know and socialize with and then your told their dead a few months later after knowing them for a year or any length of time longer.

I felt that way about Optimus Prime, when I was told about the movie, I wasn't allowed to see.

Novak experienced jolenta's death twice. First one is when antoni deceived him. And the second one is after the timeskip.

Novak was introduced as a ruthless character who will not hesitate to torture or eliminate heretics. There is a sense of dread and terror whenever he's on the screen. He seems to take his job lightly but in actuality it's one of his ways to not let things get into him. He's ruthless but there are some cracks and vulnerability that's been hinted since the beginning of the series.

First one is the most impactful one, rafal's determination. Novak is used to having heretics tremble in fear, even those who put on a brave front can be broken with just a little bit of a push. But rafal is different, he declared a war against him and his belief. He makes it clear that he's not fighting against an enemy that can be seen or described by the eyes. He's fighting a concept that is just as powerful as religion.

The second one is his strong belief in god. He might seem like he doesn't care but when jolenta insulted god, he lost it and shouted at her. This is both his greatest strength and weakness. He can always get his job done as long as he believes that he's doing it for the right cause. But human is complex and love can come in many different forms. Love for god is different with love for humans. Both are important and needs to be balanced in proportion. Because as much as we want to attain heaven, ultimately we need to face the reality of the world we live in. This sparks a confloct within his heart. He loves her child but didn't want to be violent towards her. He can do anything in the name of god but abandoning his love for his daughter is one of the few things he couldn't let go of.

The two above are his biggest weakness and the cause of his downfall as a devout man of religion. When antoni told him about jolenta's death he initially was shocked but didn't immediately shed tear or show sadness. He only begins to realize that the things he believed in has begun to crumble and fade away along with her death. It's painful to see him break down in tears. Jolenta represents his love for this world. Just like how oczy, badeni and rafal love the stars, for him jolenta is just as precious. And so, novak begins to drown himself in drinking. Trying to forget his pain and the cruel reality of the world.

Novak only has two things that still let him onto this world. First is his hatred towards heliocentrism. And second is his love for religion. But because both are concepts without a concrete form, he's unstable and lost in his belief. He seeks for revenge because he doesn't know how to materialize his love anymore. What remains is only hatred for things that took away his love for the world.

It is strange that jolenta never tried to contact novak. But if you really think about it, they both took a different side to believe in. They are enemies and meeting each other will only lead to suffering. Jolenta fights on the side of heliocentrism. And novak fights on the side of religion. Again, both sides are just as important as the other. Heliocentrism teaches you to love the world and not think of it as a filthy place for sinners. And religion teaches you to love god and believe in good deeds. If you believe in both, only then will you be able to find peace and in some cases come into terms with your own death. All the inheritors of heliocentrism understood the importance of this and died a death without regret.

Jolenta's second death is devastating because both of them have no way of knowing the truth. Both believes in what they think is right. Novak only knows about it when he himself is about to die. And while the anime made it seem like he's been carrying jolenta's hand, it is just a symbolism of her death. Just like the inheritors of heliocentrism, novak finally make peace with himself. Novak realized that heliocentrism isn't really against the religion he believed in. If anything it could've helped him strengten his faith. But knowing the truth about jolenta is enough for him. His negligence may have caused suffering and he may have sinned. But it is also true that jolenta lived a fulfilling life thanks to his love for him. It may seem small in the grand scheme of things. But the gloves he gave her is what started her love for studying and in turn what led him into happiness. It goes to show you that no matter how small, what comes around goes around. Love for god and love for his creation needs to be balanced. Believing in just one of them will lead to tragedy. I think novak's death is fitting for the theme of orb. It's tragic but encapsulates the core message of the story.

Can't be denied that it is frickin painful though... i wish both of them could have at least talk to each other one last time before their death.
