Before this episode, I thought they will end together, but I'm so happy and sad at the same time that they decided to search the real love. This ending was perfect with a taciturn mood with Hanabi and then we started to discover how she accepted and moved forward. It was beautiful. I will remember all these characters for a long time. Kanai is way too kind for Akane, but I wish them a beautiful wedding, now that she has changed. Really an amazing anime *-* |

So, uh, can anyone explain to me the chronology of this episode? For some reason, it is very confusing for me. As I understand, this episode lasts for no more than a week. Because it starts with the preparations for the cultural festival and ends with the end of the festival. We got: The start of the episode is the preparations for the cultural festival. Then a small flashback to a talk with Kanai-sensei. Then goes the cultural festival, where a random guy tries to confess to Hanabi, short-hair-Ecchan appears, Moka in wedding dress appears, and some other small events. Then Hanabi talks with Mugi under the stairs. Then, in the evening, the cultural festival ends with a campfire, and that's where everything goes wrong. And then, the ending. So, what's wrong with the campfire? Sad Moka looks at the fire, Kanai-sensei without glasses looks at Akane-sensei (so the campfire must be after the talk in the flashback in the begging of the episode), Ecchan is standing with her childhood friend (so the campfire is definetly after summer vacation). And Ecchan all of the sudden has long hair. And so, we have multiple variants: 1) It was just a big fail with Ecchan's hair length and then everything else is fine 2) The festival takes place in the third year 3) The beginning of the episode shows second year, then an awkward time leap to the third year 4) The same as previous, then back again to the second year for the ending As Hanabi's character page states, she was a freshman when she met Mugi, so the cultural festival could be on the second, or on the third year. It would make sense if it is a second-year-festival, but I don't think Ecchan can grow her hair in few hours. If it is a third-year-festival, we have big plot (yep, plot, ikr) holes. Hanabi didn't talk with Ecchan and Mugi for a year? Doesn't really look right. If the begging of the festival was in the second year, and the was campfire in the third year - well, WTF? There are no logical explainations for this, just makes no sense. And, what's even more wonderful, if the ending was before the campfire - what was the point of showing a flashback into the future? Thus we come to the main question: how the conversation under the stairs, the campfire and the ending are related chronologically? Personally I prefer the variant with the fail with Ecchan's hair, because then there is logic. Didn't really enjoy the episode, as well as the whole second half of the series, but the ending was just wonderful. Finally, not a cliched one, didn't expect it. |

Well, if you mean not Hanabi's graduation, but just the graduation ceremony, then it starts to make sense (blossoming sakura at the end confirms it, actually), but, uh, the whole episode looks more like a cultural festival. Or I am just very stupid, what is kind of more likely. But still, a fail with Ecchan's hair. Oh well. EDIT: Uh, I'm still confused. In the middle of the episode, we have a slide which states it is March (so, it is a gradution ceremony), and right after that slide we have the confession and short-haired Ecchan. Then we have the conversation under the stairs, and that should be the same day, that's fine. And the campfire, which, again, breaks everything - I mean, shoudn't it be in the end of this day? Then why Ecchan is long-haired? Well, it could be an awkward time leap to the Hanabi's graduation the next year, but then we have a year-long hole and the ending doesn't make sense. They don't even have their diplomas (or whatever they are called) in the last scene (yeah, they could be in their bags, but usually that's not the case). |

Hanabi and Mugi had their final conversation on the festival day. The staff (and manga if not misremembered) just split the scene in two parts. It's even possible that the two MCs had no direct communication at all after the campfire. |

Then Ecchan cuts her hair, Mugi probably doesn't talk to Hanabi. Then the graduation (March; not Hanabi's, the same academic year as the festival): short-haired Ecchan. 5/10. It was watchable, but I couldn't connect to the characters at all. They weren't even characters, just vehicles for endless angst. The only one with some characterization was Akane. I was rooting for her, so I'm glad that she got her happy ending, I guess. |

Well, here is the end. They took an entire episode to for the festival and the final good bye for the characters. The conclusion is a marriage between Narumi and Akane and the final farwell between Hana and Mugi. I really think that Narumi's decision was the worst and that Akane's nature changed too fast, I mean she is a person that have had that idea for years and had been living that way since her adolescence. Hana and Mugi were a nice couple but they decided not to be together, I would be okay with any decision cause they still could learn a lot one from the other. Kuzu no Honkai is an anime that didn't amazed me except by 2 episodes, I think. Enjoyable and probably better for people with tastes different than me. |

I was pleasently surprised to see Hanabi and Mugi end up not getting back together. I thought there might be some kind of forced "happy couple ending" and it was a little painful to see them drift apart as strangers (parallel lines, never to meet again I suppose)... but I think this was for the best. Their relationship was very complicated and it would have been hard for them to start over I think. My heart aches for both of them, and I hope Hanabi is able to find someone who can make her infinitely more happy in the future. She's still so young, so I'm sure she will! The weirdest thing at the end for me was honestly the teachers getting married. I love how this show went into the thoughts and motivations of a bunch of side characters and gave them depth in just 12 episodes but I guess I still don't understand or sympathize with either teacher. Their relationship seems so onesided (even the mention in this final episode about him giving up glasses since she asked him to) and I just feel like they both could have found better people (not Mugi or Hanabi though!). All in all, a very memorable series. Can't say I've many anime that highlight the "scummy" side so many of our hearts have so much ;) It was a bit of trainwreck but I enjoyed it overall. |

I don't usually enjoy drama series as much, but this one was one that I couldn't stop watching. Not only did it feel so close to reality, it kept me guessing what would happen next. The setting of this series felt very mature and the ending was somewhat unexpected. I really like the message that is sent in this anime as to how love isn't always found as quickly and how things don't always turn out the way you want them to be. No matter how hard you try, sometimes it just wasn't meant to be. Also, another interesting thing was how the antagonist of the show was favored in the anime and after her "change" was even given more screen time than the protagonist. This was a good show overall. Kept me thinking about my own feelings and is a refreshing change from the more typical anime series. |

For me this entire series took a very different take on the way anime and movies take on the topic of love. And that ending monologue by Hanabi pretty much sums up what I'm trying to say. The series portrayed a group of characters who were taking on their first love and facing their first heartbreak. And for those of you who claim that it was overly dramatic, I agree it may seem that way at first. But after watching the final episode, you look back on that drama and realize, that's what we did in high school. As adolescents, we overly dramatized many things. And more often than not, one of those things was our crushes and our loves. We used to talk about being elated or being depressed when something happens. We used to exaggerate our broken hearts when they did happen. We used to behave as if our entire state of being depended on what the result was. And most of all, we used to think that if it wasn't her/him, then it just couldn't be. But that isn't true. Time heals all wounds. A love lost can be found elsewhere. And one can live without the fairy tale love they once desired. Kuzu no Honkai portrayed all of this splendidly. Setting all of that aside, I loved the start of the ED, especially those 15 seconds of piano they always played before the vocals hit. After the second episode, I sang along EVERY SING TIME!!! IT WAS JUST SO ADDICTIVE!!! |

Unfortunately, that's a no for me. I didn't really feel the progression of each character as I felt it was rounded up (too?) easily. Also, I think some characters had too much screenplay and focus story-wise (like, f*** Akane and Ecchan), and some others had so little time on screen (what about Naru's backstory and his mother? Or even Moca! She was just so cute in that last episode and I wished we learnt more about her). All characters made bad decisions at one point and there was not a single moment when I didn't want to slap them in the face for being so irresponsible. Like, really Naru? Ending up with a narcissistic perverse, even though she warned you she'd deceive you, just because you want her to be happy? I can understand you'd feel comfortable being with a woman who shares the same hair as your mother but that's pushing it a little too far imo. I really had a hard time watching the last episodes just because I wanted to see the evolution of the relationship between Mugi and Hanabi, but again I was pretty disappointed by how little we saw them together by the season's second half. This episode just felt like a filler overall. These are my thoughts now that I've ended this series and I hope I will be able to see how smart this anime is with time, but for now this episode is a 2/5 for me and a 5/10 for the series. I really didn't like that ending. |

Awh you have to feel for Hana. In the end, she had nothing. No one. But at least she seems to portray enough maturity to not take it out on Mugi sexually. This was a good series. If it was successfully shown as depressing and warped in its ways of showing love in this generation, then you'd definitely have to say it was good. 9/10! |

To be honest, it's a nice ending. We don't usually see this type of ending on some other anime. So, it's kind of unique! Conclusion: It deserve to have 7/10. It would've got 9/10 if we don't get to see too much sex and no yuri whatsoever but I totally get it why they would do such a thing. Nice anime! Tell you not, if you hate the anime, just don't. Hate the manga itself. |

Well, Kanai is the alpha in this story, he got Akane to change for him with his pure and reasonable love. I also wished that Mugi and Hanabe would end up together at the end, but the only reason they were with each other is to fill up the massive emptiness feeling in their heart they were getting from the one-sided love. After they confessed and got rejected, there was no reason for them to be with each other anymore. The pinky swear wasn't meaningless, but it's sole purpose was to promise they would stay together until they move on with their lives at the same time. In which, they did at the final episode. Their promise was kept and they walked off to 2 separate ways, looking for a genuine relationship and love. I've seen and been through many stuff in my life, so this series wasn't so "gut punching" for me, although i was really happy when Kanai managed to open Akane's heart (was cheering for Kanai and even said "FUCK YEAH BOI", and also happy when everyone finally managed to move on with their lives. However, i am unsatisfied with what happened to Noriko, her side of the story is very shallow in compare to the others, and the way the author ended telling her own story right in the middle of the series was very unpleasant. Because all we were showed was: Noriko loves Mugi, Noriko tries to throw away her purity by trying to get laid with Mugi and enter his world of sorrow, Noriko gets rejected both because Mugi is selfish (it will hurt his own morality) and selfless (he really cares about Noriko, so he didn't take her virginity), and that is all it, very unsatisfying and also the only thing that made me quite emotional how hard she tried. |

MASTERPIECE ROMANCE ANIME. BEST ENDING !!! "Mugi, I'm glad to have met you" "We're not alone anymore" We don't have to be saved anymore" "We'll continually seek our true love" "Goodbye" WAY BETTER than force pairing Hanabi and Mugi to going together because they have not found REAL ROMANCE yet, not with each other, they just shared an intimacy. AND Mugi ruined the real romance that could've started when he broke his promise. That's why Hanabi is too good for Mugi anyways. The teacher and onii-chan can be together because they found real romance with each other. Romance does not always have to end with each other to be happy ending! This anime IS AWESOME doing it right. ALSO I LOVE HANABI <3 10/10 |

Why couldn't they end up together, exactly? Why couldn't they try to work it out? Why wasn't their love "true"? I'd argue that it was; they relied on each other when they had no one else. They were all that they had. Now that their fantastical longing for their crushes are out of the picture, their love could truly blossom. I don't understand why it had to end like this. It's all Mugi's fault for breaking the promise in the first place, but in reality, it's just melodrama for the sake of it. There wasn't any reason why he had to break the promise, it was only set up like that in order to have this melancholic ending. What a waste of my time. |

I loved this series alot more than I ever though I would, it felt like the theme was so well explored to me, I was not disappointed either with its ending, neither its message... if anyone is a scum on this plot, then we are also scum ourselves, that is just part of us as humans. The directing was very effective too, and the art was great IMO. I cant really point any blames to Kuzu no Konkai, and I just hoped more writters had the courage to write what this mangaka did, it was bold and a very compelling plot, and the cast felt really natural. If anything I have to say I m glad for Akane, I never truly hated her, she was one of the best parts of the this show, and seeing her change was quite charming. As for Hanabi, I glad she didnt succumbed to it in the end and managed to separate from Mugi and start her own journey to find happiness for yourself above all. Anyone can relate to the message the series delivers, it really it close home. I hope I can see another anime like this someday, what a refreshing experience. 8.6 |

Le sigh... this anime was like a hard slap in the face. to get this out the way, my rating for it is 8/10. i liked the story, but i disliked most of the characters, which makes sense i guess. it's not called scum's wish for nothing. that said, atsuya and sanae are probably the greatest wingmen in the story. but ill get into that later. starting from the people i like the least though, i've got mugi sitting at the top of the list. this man had all the knowledge he needed to avoid the worst possible outcome [his own, at least] and instead, failed on every single front. the worst thing about him though, is how he clearly knows this, and refuses to even resist his own stupidity. it got to the point of stupidity where i stopped caring about the guy by the end of episode 10. he knew who he wanted was the worst person to choose, and he still chose her. now i don't like dishonest characters like akane, but i can at least respect them. mugi, goes beyond this, into full-on stupidity. he not only had 2 (possibly 3) other potential people he could have made something meaningful with, but he burned the fuck out of all of those bridges for the one guaranteed to burn on it's own. (still friends with the 3 i assume, but the point stands). this man is just about everything i dislike about standard MC's, with few, if any of the redeeming qualities that said generic MC's. not even the generic personality. he failed on every front, and the only thing liable to keep him afloat romantically (unless he learned something from this lesson, which i believe he did) is his good looks. his ending, was his choice, he knew what he was asking for, he got what he asked for, and he deserved what he got. the next person on the list, is actually a tie between akane and takuya, both of whom are the types of personality that i personally despise in real life. to start, takuya, he's bascally a somewhat lower tier, male form of akane, the dude clearly thinks with nothing but his balls, and while it works -for- his character, it does him -as- a character, no service. he's simply a man who can't get who he wants, so he instead went for every other woman possible. a great character, and yes, realistic, but a somewhat shit person. following that though, is the alpha bitch herself, akane. akane is the kind of woman who deserves little, if anything that she gets, but receives it anyways, because she is beautiful. she's knowingly fucked over (and fucked over) no less than 4 characters in this series, clearly takes joy in breaking relationships, and corrupted just about everybody who came into contact with her. pretty sure anybody past 25 (maybe past 20) has met that kind woman in real life, and the saddest thing about this story, is that this ending, is exactly how many of those women have ended up in real life. married to a man who deserves better, and likely to fuck said man over in the ensuing years simply because they can (applies to takuya as well, to a lesser extent) my dislike of her stems from who she is as a person, how she so cleanly escapes karma, and how her growth is portrayed in contrast to how she's acted up until that point. it's the most rosy ending, for what is clearly the most corrupt person in the cast. no offense to those who think different, but you can't turn a ho into a housewife, nor is the thot process that simple to break. kanai, while happy with what he's getting, deserves somebody who isn't liable to cheat on him in the next 5-10 years. speaking of captain cuck, he's next on the list. i have nothing against him really, i just don't much like how he's portrayed as the perfect guy, he's basically all the redeeming traits of the generic romcom MC that mugi lacked, with enough forgiveness to give jesus a run for his money. dude's busted in the head man, with a mother complex that's keeping him attached to the worst character (personality wise) in the show. it's not healthy for him, and it kind of saddens me that he gets the jizzy end of the stick in his relationship. dudes fucked in the heard, but he at least deserves somebody better. after that, comes hanabi, it's not that i don't like her, but that the rest of the people below are that much better imo. and honestly, i don't have too much to say about the people below, or hanabi herself. she's the person i rooted for the most, and she had the most growth in the story, bar possibly akane (who's growth was less rewarding for me, on account of how fake it could turn out down the line). she dealt with the same temptations as the rest of the cast, but unlike the above characters, she slowly learned how better to fight it, how to make up her own mind, and how to value herself without the eyes/ touch of another person. she's more complete than the characters above, and doesn't really realize it until the final episode of the anime. her relationship with mugi went down the drain, but while i was shipping them at first, in the end, i'm glad hanabi didn't get with mugi, not just for her sake, but for his sake as well. there was the point in the middle where they both could have made something of themselves together, but once that point passed, mugi lost his shot at all options, and hanabi was too far ahead of him in personal growth for such a relationship to even be worth shipping. she's the 2nd core of the show alongside akane, but she's the core that made it out without having to trap herself between the wheels. then we've got noriko, aka moca. who's one of the least developed, but one of the most stable of the main characters in the show. she came in as the annoying sheltered princess in love, but in the short amount of time she got, she took the hurt and rejection, turned it into motivation to do better, and by the last episode, became the 2nd best girl in the show for me. she's still 99% the same girl she was at the start, but she learned, rather quickly, how to grow on her own. she failed her main goal, but she made it through the anime with fewer scars than just about anyone else, and learned from them way faster than anybody else. which brings me to my favorite 2 people in the anime sanae, and (by extention) her cousin atsuya. sanae and atsuya are the closest things to a wingman this anime has, and their use in the last few episodes exemplifies this perfectly (though i do believe atsuya was shoehorned in rather clumsily). sanae, realizes from the start that her desired ship's gonna sink, and while she knows this, all too well, she tries, for a short while, to keep it afloat, culminating in her breakdown, and acceptance that she'll never be able to get with hanabi. at which point, she vanishes from the anime, but not from the narrative. she's reintroduced this episode, in the best way possible. she knew she couldn't handle her ship sinking, and instead of fucking it up further, she takes some much needed time off, to reform herself, so that she can handle her own feelings, all the while pushing hanabi to do something similar, she's the good friend every character in this series needed (aside from the yuri anyways), but didn't have. and my personal favorite of the group. she kind of had the same problems as captain cuck at the start, but as the story progressed, she realized, with minimal help, that she was not only hurting herself, but that she couldn't really help, or even remain near, her best friend, the way she was, choosing for herself, to change, and adapt. which is where her cousin, atsuya came in, he was basically the shoehorn to tip the scales of the story, and while that's not the best of writing, it achieved the desired results, and resulted in one of the better characters of the series being created. his advice, and his personality, were both selfish, but they had the hints of wingman needed, to help both hanabi and sanae get over their own individual problems. not too much to say for him outside of that, but he earned his spot next to sanae at the top, simply for being (arguably) the least broken person in the series. aside from the characters though, the artwork, and style of the anime, were both very well done, and the soundtrack is well made as well, fitting the tone and pace of the series with each arrangement. so did i enjoy Kuzu no honkai? not really, it was more of a "why am i subjecting myself to this?" than it was a ride of enjoyment. but i did appreciate it. i appreciated the divergence from the standard style of story, because among all the lovey dovey stories you see every day in anime, it's still somewhat refreshing to see something not end the way you want or expect it too. and for all the complaints i may have about who did what (or who), or who didn't do what (or who), i did at least, have something to think about. |
yep. I Have no idea what I'm doing, but I enjoy my life all the more because of it. |

Yep, I really liked this anime. I thought the entire anime was well handled and mature. It really explored the darker side of teenage love/lust, as opposed to Tsukgakierei that explored the lighter side. I don't think it was perfect, but I loved its message and how it showed the good and bad of all the characters. You don't get too many animes like this that really don't dance around these tough subjects, but takes them head on instead. I think the ending was perfect, and probably the best ending it could have gotten. Hanabi and Mugi had to accept themselves before trying to find love, otherwise they'll continue to have broken relationships. I thought it was a mature conclusion they came across considering all the pain they went through along the way. The art was good, the sex scenes were really well handled, it expressed the emotion of the characters really well, all the characters grew (except for maybe good ole Oni-chan) and I liked that the anime was brutally honest. This anime isn't for everyone obviously, but some times these depressing animes have some strong messages which is why I tend to like them. Overall, 8/10 |

A good ending is weird, judging how the story progress i cant see any good ending for two of our MC. That was the premise of the tittle, It tells about people who wish something but will never happen so they try to run away from reality. Its simple as that. Ahh now i came back here those music ring on my head again. |

I actually liked the ending. The two protagonists not getting together was the best decision imo. My only complaint is the wedding. Out of all the characters to get a cliche "happy" ending it's Akane? She's the most deplorable character by far, shows no remorse for her actions, openly admits she'll most likely repeat them, and she STILL gets rewarded? Wth? When she told Hanabi, "Next time make sure he doesn't get stolen," as a form of reconciliation I wanted to punch my screen... |

It is not anime that I'll remember for long, but it was ok. I like the OP and ED and the art is also very nice. The story is not some normal happy love seen in most of stories and that is good change for me, but it's not that I like it, ok?! |
(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ ちゅっ ちゅっ キス (´。✪ω✪。`) I hate it when anime/manga that I enjoyed ends, especially when there could be much longer plot and when I love main heroine :P I wish I had magic glasses that let me see real world in anime colors ;) |

I don't even know what to say about this borderline hentai/NTR anime. It was an emotional roller-coaster of unrequited love and lust with the lack of proper characterisation and development. But it has a good story of lonely people getting together to cure their loneliness and sadness. However, the way the anime tries to depict single lonely people as sexually repressed is definitely wrong. It would've been meaningful and beautiful if they kept all the needless sexual interactions out of it. But then again this was a story about two horny teenagers who confused loneliness with lust/love. Now I don't mind the different ending from the conventional endings. But if you are going to bait me with hints of romance between the main characters with all that sexy time throughout the show only to troll me in the end without a more detailed explanation then it just feels pointless. At best they could've be shown as friends and try to discover their true feelings for others and maybe each other. Yet with this ending I failed to understand what the main characters truly wanted after f**king around most of the time with other's people feelings and emotions while being taken advantage of as an excuse to cure their loneliness and satisfy their insatiable lust. I mean if they truly wanted a genuine relationship or love then they should've give chance to those who truly love/like them for e.g. Moca's feeling could've been reconsidered by Mugi or that dude who confessed to Hanabi in the end. I think all they needed was a good psychological counselling from the start. I think what I disliked the most about the show is how they spent the last few episodes justifying Akane's whoredom as boredom. I mean this antagonist character is so malicious and sadistic that she takes pleasure by destroying genuine relationships and is clearly responsible for everything that took place in the anime yet she gets a happy ending? Why? I don't even know what part of Kanai not wanting to have sex with her made her change. Either way it feels so vague. I don't know what kind of realism and artistry the writer was aiming for but it clearly failed to impress me. |

I don't know how I feel about that ending. At least it didn't end in absolute tragedy like I thought it would. The first half was better, but it was good overall. |

An amazing ending. It wasn't your typical fairy tale happy go lucky ending. It inspires people to move on and live their life despite the pain of not getting what you want. After all, life is all about making the most out of your circumstances. I liked the ending since it has closure (which most anime endings don't have). I don't have the feeling of wanting to know more since all the characters were developed properly and most of them had their sort of mini-ending. Hanabi did not find the love she was looking for but she became a stronger person and is able to move on. Mugi also moved on as well and has let go of her love for Akane. Kanai sensei got his dream girl. Akane found someone who could love her despite her despicable nature. I'm sure she's taking steps in becoming a better person for Kanai. Ecchan was able to move on and she even became with Hanabi once more. Moca decided to move on from Mugi. She's doing things for herself and she is now living a more fulfilling life. An anime about moving on. It didn't leave a gaping hole in my heart (like other series do) because there was closure. I hope the other of Kuzu no Honkai makes more stories like this in the future. |
