Damn so the Asgard arc was soley based on the idea of this canon arc? What the hell Toei? Everything setup in this arc is the same, the consequences are the same and the way to prevent it is practically the same right upto how many people they have to defeat.

My worst fears were realized in an almost comedic way. The fears that I wrote in a post not too long ago. Sadly more than just that, I'm wary for some of the good predictions I made. The second I heard the words 'seven pillars' I audibly let out an "OH NO!", for I knew exactly what that meant. There will be seven not temples which host seven not gold saints that they must defeat so that they can save Saori from getting killed via a not arrow/not cold weather sacrifice plot device that in turn will save the world. Yes, the not's are to signify that we've gotten this identical story TWICE before this with no breaks in between. That's so crazy to me, and even though one was filler that does no justice to the anime. It's things like this that make it hard to recommend Saint Seiya, for if they don't love the gar manly characters and cheesy nature and world building and music and art and themes of justice and role models in how we should act and such as much as I do, I have to figure out how to sell it to them in a way that makes them not want to drop it after watching the same arc three times in a row. For the good prediction that I'm scared of, realizing there's only 13 episodes left made me realize the generals this arc may not be characterized nearly as much as some of the last, of course they may, but in the off chance that they aren't as good as the gold saints or god warriors then this will just be a rehash of the last two arcs with worse characters and a slightly cooler concept. Even if that's the case I'll still probably enjoy it for what I listened above but sheesh.

I'm glad that Seiya and Shun are strong enough to not struggle with the fodder henchmen, if they struggled I would have been a little upset.

I love the imagery that we can actually see each pillar from wherever the saints are standing. That's both awesome visually and a great way to allow them to split up in a somewhat new way, even though it's reminiscent of how they split up in Asgard.

Thetis telling them about how to win felt a bit contrived yet also seems to fit with the Generals and Poseidon's arrogant nature so I have no qualms with it. Anything else wouldn't be Saint Seiya.

Shiryu missing has been explained in a similar way to how I wished it would have been on episode 100! He went to Old Master to get information on where Poseidon's sanctuary was, that's a good excuse. They even tied it back to him leaving Asgard to find out! I suppose in the manga Poseidon started attacking after the battle with the gold saints, they all split up to find out what was going on, Seiya and Shun found the entrance and got pulled in alone and the others found out later and caught up. Either way, it still feels weird for Hyoga and Ikki to be missing but we could infer they left with Shiryu to find information on Poseidon and Seiya and Shun stayed to look for Saori and clues on where Poseidon went around Asgard. If that's all true, as I think it has been implied, then the only slight problem is that the black whirlpool was conveniently in Asgard. I assume Ikki will show up fashionably late again, I don't even think we found out why he was late in Asgard...

I wonder what it means for the pillars to 'hold up the ocean'.

Basically this.

Don't worry too much about the generals, each has his own view even if they're very thin, character-wise.

And yes, because each chapter recycles the same schema (with Hades repeating it twice), you definitely can't sell St Seiya for its story.

PS: the currently spublished direct sequel is doing it again.

Mod edit: added spoiler tags
edit: removed the current manga spoiler.

My guess is that it is an awkward rehashing of the pillars of Heracles that hold up the sky.

I wish Seiya and co. would stop getting surprised every time a new enemy stops their first attack with the palm of his hand.
