Minimum wages for Japanese..
Hmm.. What is the average salary for Japanese?
A quick look through suggests a figure around $26,000 (or roughly 2,784,730 yen at current exchange rate).
Wensbane said: What the hell, those figures are actually a lot better than I expected. Where's the slave labor?
I guess it kinda sucks if you're an inbetweener, though...
the animators are still worked like dogs like you think but get paid slightly under the minunum wage here in the states
ExTamplier said: This figures are not as bad as people keep saying.
most of the key animators, inbtws, and colourists only make about a McDonalds or Starbucks minunum wage but it's not minunum wage so they still have to work a lot more

Maybe, but it was their choice. People kept saying that this is some kind of slavery.

More like there's too much wannabe animators, pixiv alone has millions of good artists who can be animators.
How can you have good wages with that much competition? plus the companies are cheap as hell (outsourcing for pennies).

are potential animators really that abundant? or there are just too many anime shows being produce now a days?

if that's their specialty(just that),maybe you can say life forces them to do it.
speciality not come out from nothing.. it's still their choice to being special in that... they should already know about the low wages...
well cant really argue with that. but you cant be an expert of something just because you're trying to. so while they have choice, sometime the choice is limited.
