I'm curious to know how many volumes of a Light Novel or Manga make one season of anime (12 episode or 24 episode). And also one arc is how many volumes long?

60 chapters is enough for a 12 episode anime.

should be taken on a case by case basis

there are 12 eps anime made from one volume (tatami galaxy) and 12 eps anime with 2 eps per volume (jintai)

there are volumes with many episodic stories which can be considered their own arcs, and arcs that span many volumes

on average i'd like to say 3-5 eps per volume, and 1 volume per arc

And then you get Haruhi, where the first season is parts from 3 different books told out of chronological order...because unnecessary confusion is artsy?

Hmm,this depends on the series,as others have said. But generally I see that most manga/LN that get a full length (24 min per episode) adaptations have at least 4 volumes out, generally 6-7 volumes.

Depends ALOT on the manga/LN. Weekly mangas usually only have ~20 pages, while monthly tends to be in the 40-60 page area, which takes more episodes to tell.

It depends in:

1. The amount of pages each chapter has.
2. The producer, if they want to take their time with the storyline or just rush everything.

It really depends. There are shorter and longer chapters. The pace is different. So.., you can't really know. You can try to take animes you love and see how much chapters they showed.

They can make 12 ep from a LN vol, but that would be too slow and will not sell (rokka no sale).
Manga can also use about than 10 pages per ep if they add stuff and stretch it (one piece).

Watch Bakuman series. That will teach you a lot of thing about manga and anime. ;)

As for LN adaptions, I've noticed a recent trend of 3 volumes for 12-13 episodes.

Should be around 4-6 manga volumes for a full-length 1-cour anime.

It all depends. Dagashi Kashi is adapted at four chapter per episode. There are 18 chapters in a volume so it will take about three volumes to make a one cour anime. Wakaba*Girl is a 13 episode anime adapted from a one volume manga. On the other hand Zetman is a 20 volume manga that was adapted into a 13 episode anime, and as you would expect it was extremely rushed.

A LN adpatation will have an average of 2-4 Volumes / 12 Episodes , while a manga will adapt 20-35 Chapters (3-5 Volumes) / 12 Episodes (10-15 if it is monthly)

Thanks for dedicating your necro to me rather than to the OP who hasn't even been online in nearly a year.

there is no answer to this type of questions lmao

I mean it really really depends on what type of mango/LN you consider

Like let's make an example. KonoSuba with 4 LN volumes made 20 eps. So 1 LN volume is roughly 5 eps

Re:Zero with 9 volumes made 25 eps. So 1 volume is roughly 2.50 eps.

1.For LN it takes 7 to 9 vol for 24 episodes.

For manga it depends how many chapters are involved in 1 vol. It usually contains 7-12 chapters per vol. like Yuragisou_no_yuuna-san contains 9 chapters per vol., Bokutachi No Benkyou have 7 chapters per vol.,
If it's Seinen then it even covers less than 7 chapters per vol. Like Btoom covers 4 chapters per vol.,

2.For long Shonen weekly it takes 1-2 chapters per episodes as they've more actions.

Seinen manga contains 40-60 pages per chapter and sometimes for few chapeters it even crosses more than 100 pages.

3.If you like watch psychological animes their mangas cover 24-30 chapters for 12 episodes like "The Lost Village" and "Baccano!"

4.Other animes mangas cover 42-48 chapters for 12 episodes.

5.For other Shonen wbich are not long but not so short, their manga cover 50-60 chapter for 12 episodes.

There are also some animes of 12 episodes cover 100 chapters as many chapers got skipped.

I wish it may help you.
