So most people here probably never heard of chinese shows listed on MAL fair enough, many of them are unsubbed mainly because very few people are subbing them at the moment.

Even a show that has Chinese Producers and a Japanese animation studio behind it isn't watched by most people this season. It has both Chinese and Japanese dub.

Technically its a Japanese studio behind it so you many even consider it Japanese anime.

http://myanimelist.net/anime/32094/Reikenzan__Hoshikuzu-tachi_no_Utage

I'm guessing people got turned off by the horrible google translate subs although a more competent team is releasing pretty decent subs now no one is watching the show.

If it's interesting, I'd rather it being in Japanese as I'm used this language, but I watched an ova in Korean, so I guess I could watch it in Chinese if it's not dubbed (but only if it's subbed)

Probably not, the show would have to grab my attention for me to watch it.

Quite a lot is outsourced to Korea and China.

A more interesting fact is that China outsources to Japan and Korea.

If you understand chinese here's the interview of 狐妖小红娘

https://youtu.be/NaMEZVTtS1w?list=PLSkNsC52FdsoLUmxU_vdK1_x2wvic9qgr

They outsource too.

Everyone does indeed outsource so the animation quality probably wouldn't be too drastic a drop
Hell even the west outsources to S. Korea for a shitton of their work

Japanese dubs are quite lax when it come to translation so I'll just watch the original Chinese one.

Most notable example for me was Shaolin soccer.

I don't really see it as Chinese unless it was produced and animated in China (e.g. http://myanimelist.net/anime.php?id=10259)

So I would probably watch Reikenzan in Japanese but if it was something like Da Hai I would watch it in Chinese

So a Chinese anime which is dubbed to Japanese which is then subbed to English? Sounds pretty honest lmao..

If I were to watch an anime genuinely made and conceived by Chinese people I would probably watch it in Chinese..

And also what Romagia said..

but we are talking about chinese animes here, like ill rather watch a anime from china in my language than in japanese, if i wanna go authentic then i watch it in cantonese/mandarin, im not a filthy weeb so ill take the most convinient for me in this case.

Hahahaha this is true. The subs were absolutely awful at first. I'm not normally one to complain about the quality of a fansub, but it was nigh unintelligible at first.

In answer to the question, yes I would. If it interested me and the subs were good enough I wouldn't care whether it was in Japan or not. I'm currently watching Ashen Qiaokeli-ing... which is in Chinese, I believe. Took a little getting used to their language rather than the familiar Japanese, but it's quick enough to get over that.

No. Most Chinese cartoons are just anime ripoffs. They rarely have anything original in them. Hell, China has a fake Precure and fake Makoto Shinkai stuff. Why watch that crap when I can watch the original?

This shows how much you watch chinese shows. Just like how most Anime are Manga or LN Adaptations.

There are lots of Chinese Anime that are based Wuxia Novels or Manhua(Chinese Comics). Those are usually pretty original .

Yeah, and those are boring as all hell. Wuxia stories move at a glacial pace, and have basically the same story anyway.

Technically none, since I can never make it past an episode. But don't bring Manhua into this, some of those are pretty good. I'm talking animation only.

HISTORY TIME: The reason Chinese animation is so bad is because some time ago (50-60 years), most people who worked in arts, like animation, painting, etc, were forced to become farmers. Thus China lost a lot of animators who not only stopped animating, but also never passed the art along to apprentices. Thus, when China started wanting to make its own animations, the industry had to kind of start over.

For that specific anime, I read the manhua, which seemed kinda uninteresting. For most anime, I'd probably watch either Chinese or Japanese, after I determined which one I liked better.
Be thankful for the wisdom granted to you.

Most people know about the cultural revolution in China or at least they should.

So your experience with it is none/ cannot make it past an episode.

Considering I couldn't find more than 4 Chinese animated shows that are based on Manhua that were made in the last year and subbed in english.

There isn't an Wuxia chinese animated show made in the last year that was subbed in english.

I assume you can read or at least understand Chinese enough to watch one of these shows unsubbed right?

Otherwise you are being pretty disingenuous by saying Wuxia Anime are Quote 'boring as hell' when you can't even make it half an episode because you either don't understand the language or haven't seen any that released in 2015/2016.

Personal preference, I enjoyed the show.

For Reikenzan: Hoshikuzu-tachi no Utage. I actually do respect that they are adapting the source material pretty faithfully.

It seems like every anime season there are shows who suffer the butchering of the source material to rush things has just made things worse. At least to some fans.
