Why is it that all sports anime are all consisted of males? Why can't the same kind of anime such as Haikyuu and Kuroko no Basuke feature a female team rather than a male team?

Your right anime is clearly biased against women in this regard.

I herby demand a female Beach Volleyball sports anime. And I won't accept anything else.

Cuz the fujoshi fanbase is too stronk.

The amount of money studios and mangakas make from shows like KnB and Haikyuu wouldn't be the same if it was a cast full of girls.

First of all, I'm pretty sure there are if you look hard enough.

Secondly, if there aren't or there is very few....it's because it's not in demand.

All male sports anime actually attract more female anime fans than male fans from what I've seen.

Look at Kuroko no basket or whatever.....the majority of the fanbase is female.

Free is also targeted towards females.

So....an all female cast would probably be targeted to males?

I'm not sure.

The problem here would be that males don't typically like watching females compete in sports....unless it's something like beach volleyball.

I could be wrong, but then again, I very much dislike sports anime to begin with.

Oh god...that's right, there's also that fucking all male volleyball shit...haikyuu or whatever...

And yup, that also has a strong female fanbase.

So....let me put on muh equality glasses and DEMAND anime to make a Dead or Alive beach volleyball anime.

If our demands are not met, we will go the UN and tell them we're not being treated fairly.

Well there are that series about loli playing basketball (Ro-kyu-bu)... But yeah it's shit. Most female-centered sports anime would probably turn out to be a bunch of fan-service crap anyway. Most of the weeb nowadays would rather watch beubs or loli rather than plot. It's the anime merchandise.

Maybe since most sport anime are "Shounen", more aimed at the dudes rather than grills. For dudes to not ignore the plot you gotta remove most of the which-will-distract-them. My speculation.

But if female playing sport then there's Chihayafuru, Cross Game or Baby Steps. Not a full female team but still. I would prefer these over a full female team.

If not wrong Chihayafuru is also considered a sports anime? If you consider karuta as a type of sport. There's also Saki that involved Mahjong (if you consider it as a sport).

Try harder OP, "世界でいちばん強くなりたい! (Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai!)" was quite the hit in japan, looks like it didn't manage to appeal the international audience. A bit of pro wrestling, some camaraderie, high ratio of female cast and a bit of service.

Ro kyu bu when it comes to basketball, but yeah I'm also still waiting for the all female beach volleyball anime 'cause you know 'muh equality'

Manga is worth the read. One of those series that's so trashy it's good, hence the "trash" in its name.

Team sports:
Basketball - Ro Kyu Bu
Tennis - Teekyuu
Baseball - Taishou Yakyuu Musume.
Soccer - Miss Monochrome: The Animation - Soccer-hen

Other sports:
Mountain climbing - Yama no Susume
Mahjong - Saki
Tank fighting - Girls und Panzer
Weight training/exercising - Anitore! EX
Zombie Fighting - Gakkougurashi

These are just the ones I've watched/know about, I'm sure there's more. For some reason there doesn't seem to be any shoujo anime about feminine sports. All of the titles I mentioned were targeted at males.

They exist. They're just not popular, or at least not nearly as popular as male sports anime. But there have been several over the years...

Sure, not all of those are "regular" sports, but they still count as sports. And even excluding the super old ones on the list (Ace wo Nerae! etc), there have been recent ones.

So, yeah, they absolutely do exist, you just have to go looking for them because they're not that popular. And with male sports anime only a handful are super popular anyway...

Well I've been thinking on this question for a while recently too, after I completed very entertaining female sport anime Battle Athletes Daiundoukai. Whatch it if you want spokon about girls.

I think it all depends on japanese anime audience according to they tastes. Personally I would like to see more sport anime about cute girls, and there'll be a few anime about girls and bycicle riding in the foreseeble future, so we have something to wait after all.

Female Idol Anime are essentially the equivalent of male sports anime, in terms of success and appeal, but it would be nice to see more proper sports series with a female cast.
