Well? I'm just wondering.

MC for Space Brothers is an engineer. But yeah, other anime mention don't really have enough engineering concept.
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

Totally agree with this!
I don't think anime has a story that's on the level of the movie "3 Idiots"
If you haven't seen it guys, you should really watch it. Perfect show for Engineers. It's Bollywood BTW.

Yup,

Meet Shirou "The Jackhammer" Emiya, a young and determined construction engineer. It's from Fate stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (the movie, not the lackluster ufotable series).

Surprise not to see Steamboy mentioned here. That's literally an anime that is all about engineering. Kaze Tachinu is another engineering anime.

Oh yeah, Wind Rises. That is closest to anime about engineer. Can't believe I forget about that.

Well, there's always Planetes.
Quite on the same line, you could try Shinkai's Beyond the Clouds, the Pomised Place.
These are the only ones I can remember that really develops the concept of modern engineering.
Most series like many mentioned here just used concepts to setup a plot but the storyline isn't directly related to the dos and don'ts of an engineer.

Yep, agreed. These are great.
Same for already mentioned Robotics;Notes and Last Exile.

Now if you want an animu about engineering students, just watch anything with a lot of suffering, broken dreams, shattered vacation plans and crying little girls. Yea. That sums it up.

Steamboy: has a lot of cool steam powered contraptions. Can't recall much so long ago.
Classroom Crisis: room/shed full of engineering students, teacher, boss, pitted against drama, engineering decisions, cost down, efficiency, politics, funding, lovely failures etc. It doesn't go into much depth on mechanical engineering, but any more & it'll bore even more watchers than it already has. It starts slow with boring world exposition, but the story & characters really grow afterwards.
Robotics;Notes: discussions on some real mechanics + scifi elements. Realistic "science fair" small battle bots, semi-real large robots. I find their process of building these, talking about limitations really interesting. Also use of AR/phones/internet. But everything else was painful, mud pacing, broken expectation-resolution threads, & poor characters (except Frau).

I'd add Rocket Girls to the list of marginally-engineering anime.

Knights and Magic. Read the bold if you want a brief summary.

Don't let the title fool you though, it is far more technical than one would think based on the title. Ernest is a genius programmer from Earth that reincarnated in this world with magic. Back on Earth, he was a major mech fan. Here on this new world, mechs have been created using magic, though they are called knights instead of mechs.

Since the first time they were made two hundred years ago, there have been no major improvements. Of course, a mecha maniac wouldn't stand for that. The 6 year old Ernest immediately starts learning so that he can pilot his own mech, one custom made.

He essentially takes over the kingdoms mech development and changes the entire worlds way of thinking about mechs. Ex) Centaur mechs, flying mechs, mini-mechs, etc. If you wanted to see mechs being created from the groundup, almost no politics, massive mecha wars, overpowered mechs bashing in primitive ones, or even a mech slinging fireballs, this is your anime.

The Wind Rises is about an aeronautic engineer, but the movie is more focused in his personal life-story and context rather than his particular scientific work.

Every workplace has its politics. Anyway Classroom Crisis is the closest thing to real engineering I've ever seen displayed in a show so I'm gonna have to also suggest it.

I'd like to re-iterate Space Brothers. It's very good and I think it would be up your alley if you want something that focuses on career development and progress. It's not massively engineering focused but the main character basically becomes an engineer and develops some creative stuff, I think an engineer would appreciate it.
