Sure, hate speech is a punishable offense, but it's really only if you're trying to nail some guy down you really hate. It's like every law on this site http://www.dumblaws.com/. Sure, the laws are there. But most people don't know of them, most police officers wouldn't believe you if you told them, and any jury would find the defendant innocent, and no judge would allow you in the court. |

I probably should have said that the Americans bash Atheist, not America. Too much brainstorming. You can google all my examples. If you then want additional ones, you will be supplied with them. Thanks, sorry you ran into a stupid/ignorant American. I'll say to please not let the disturbing/ignorant "influential" people and their dumb followers get to you so much. They bother both you and me and trust me when I say (as i do live in the U.S.) that it's a big big country. We aren't all like that ^.^, lol. Ex:Palin. (Pro Palin people beware. I'd rather not argue about her and just let time run it's course.) She'd qualify as a disturbing/ignorant "influential" person. I think the fact that she couldn't pull enough votes to McCain for him to win the election proves that at least the majority of Americans realize she's just a dim celebrity. That's as far as I'll go, as i said before I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion. |

Wow, in the time I write and proof read a post this thread gets nasty x.x Let's seriously tone it down a bit. (Note: Those who respond to M3lkor with insults are not justified just because he said one initially in a clearly more emotionally driven response. And I'd say they are the ones that are acting like 15 year olds.) Maybe I'm the only who's fan a trying to complete a debate/stance in 1 to 2 large post, versus many smaller post that tend to allow the argument to get drawn off on tangents. But that's just my preference. _____________________________________________________________________ What's wrong with Crystal Castles >.< lol. The 8-bit/new-rave genre can be fun ^.^ |

HarryTram, honestly the way this topic is worded just doesn't allow for any good conversation. You should've made it instead something like "How do you feel about America?", as the title implies (whether you meant this or not) that the default opinion is that America sucks. Making a topic like this, especially with this title, is like politely asking it to be trolled. |

Only read the opening post because reading over 400 posts would take too long. A lot of English have the conception of yanks being god obsessed. The "god bless America" and all that crap, people over here find it a joke. Other reasons in which people may think it sucks is because of the culture and the generalised stereotypical attitudes that people perceive of the occupants. The diets are really bad, introduction of fast food and the whole idea of 3 meals a day is pretty crap. The idea of people sueing companies over nothing, the obsession with celebrities and money. Some films give the impression that the world revolves around America and they won the Wars by themselves. etc etc. Personally the only thing I actually think that sucks about America is they always make the Indians out to be the bad guys in the old Westerns when it was actually the cowboys. |
