Shigatsu was eyes and ears candy although the story was very simple yet decently executed.
Plastic memories had nothing for it, it was screaming bellow average in every aspect.

The whole series was leading up to this and I thought it was very well done. The goodbye scene in the ferris wheel was definitely the highlight.

Overall it wasn't a great show but I think it had a brilliant first episode and a great ending. Shame the path in between was a bit of a bumpy ride.

It's easy to sum up Plastic Memories as such a "disappointment" or" wasted Potential", they could done so much more with the story but in the end it was just an meh romance with insert feels moments.

Though i did enjoy my time watching this mainly because of the faces Isla made and the art was nice

still more feels than Shigatsu/10

Tsukasa cried like a bitch, I cried like a bitch.

Got choked up when everyone came into the office to see her too.

Solid ending, no complaints. Good series overall for an anime original. I don't see this getting a second season, which is fine because it literally doesn't need it.

Hope the BDs fix Isla having 6 fingers on each hand in that one scene.

Bittersweet ending, the love scene on the ferris wheel was perfect and I really liked seeing a happy Isla. Tbh I expected a little more drama but both were very strong the whole time, especially Tsukasa who obvioulsy suffered the most.
On the one hand I really liked the last episode but on the other end I hoped so much for a happy end, a miracle but there wasn't any ^^

Well at least they meet again and the end but it was pretty clear that this show gonna be an utsuge. An asspull miracle would have ruined the show.Maybe she can recover some of her memories from the Diary but we will never know.

No, they didn't meet again at the end, where the hell did you pull that from?

Don't tell me that this was Isla at the end? Probably not cause Tsukasa would have reacted differently to that.

Of course its her

No, its not. Fucking stop with the bullshit please. They gave ZERO indication it was her. Just going off his reaction and the size of that hand a grade schooler could figure out it was a different person.

this anime is an example of what happens when you drive a show's scenario over the plot, plot points, and world building. for a casual drama anime watcher, you will enjoy it because it can be sad at some points, but it's so riddled with no world building, no explanations for technology and etc. that it makes the show fall apart. this show if it was 24 episodes could have been structured more better, but this isn't a manga adaptation, this is plastic memories. any thought of it being better is the thought of it being an entirely different show. they had a action moment in the anime thinking it went the route of psycho-pass, only for it to go nowhere near a action-filled climax. instead, pass episode 6 it became a full-blown slice of life. the biggest overall problem with the show is that it didn't know what to be, they rushed it without a second thought on how to build a proper world, how to explain what's happening, or explain the flaws it has overall(as people were thinking it would go the route of psycho-pass) it was a complete waste of time. 2/10 i do not recommend to anyone.

LMAO. You were the only one trying to compare this show to Psycho Pass. Even if others didn't like it, everyone knew from the start what genre this was. Last time I checked there weren't any Thriller, Action, or Suspense tags on this show. No wonder you're so salty. While everyone else is comparing it to other SoL shows you're in a completely different world. The show was definitely structured "more better" than your argument grammar that's for sure.

I enjoyed the show well enough, but

The entire show did feel a bit forced. I mean you didn't need to show sad retrievals of little kids and sad old ladies just to toss in some extra sad moments. Rather than have a show about a couple (or anything) that has a sad ending, we got a show where the premise was just to show sad stuff with little background support. The show was simply too focused on highlighting the sad parts while forgoing explaining the world, giftias, or even the relationships. The show actually picked up after they stopped hitting you over the head with the "she's gonna die and you WILL cry" (foreshadowing) retrievals IMO.

For the most part it did its job, so I guess I can't be too hard on it.

I kind of agree with your point but that thing I put in bold. Who the heck would think it would go the psycho-pass route if it was clearly stated in the anime that Wanderers are extremely rare ? And honestly it was easy to see after episode 6 that it was going to be a romance story, it's your fault you didn't change your view of the show after it became painfully obvious what direction it would take. But I do agree that the 6 first episode didn't really show which direction Plastic Memories intended to take.

Basically, this show was about a "dying" girl while actually ignoring being about said dying girl. It's as if you introduced a girl dying of cancer and then filled the show with random stuff and then had people dying mixed in to make sure you remember the main girl is dying, and then you ended the show with a sad extended goodbye where she dies.

I think you could watch the first few episodes up to where it is revealed Isla only has a few months left and then watch the final episode and get the same result from the show.

This series was alright. It ended if fine, so I don’t think there is need for a second season. I did enjoyed some of the interactions both, Isla and Tsukasa, had during the whole series.

Especially that Thespacepope guy with his/her cleaver play of words “Shitgatsu”[/s]. Should I laugh or pity the guy? I just hope he/she isn’t old enough to drive.

You know guys, whenever you have to bring a completely different series to the main topic of discussion of another series (both which are completely different besides drama) just so you can bash it (or do whatever).... it’s just pitiful. You guys realize that, right? I honestly hope you do, or else that’d be even sadder.

Eh, I sort of liked that. They were trying to make the best of it and enjoy what little time Isla had left even though they knew it could only be temporary. Isla wasn't in pain or anything so there were no physical signs that were impeding her life and she wanted to focus on making memories for Tsukasa for when she wouldn't be there anymore. & she said she liked the fact that he held back on the crying/showing the sadness he felt, possibly because it allowed to enjoy her last month on earth without constantly being reminded that it was going to have to end soon. I think there were definitely problems with the show but I sort of liked the way it tried to maintain a happy tone in spite of the looming sadness that was going to have to take place.

The ending was far too predictable, it doesnt make me cry at the final episode, the scene where michiru knows isla's lifespan was much more sad. 7/10 for me, but i was just wondering who is that peson on the last scene after the ed of eps 13, if it was isla then the maker of the series really knows how to waste my time

The way they ended the show, they left it very open to the possibility of a second season. Tsukasa 9 month training session is quite symbolic. They left it open to the possibility and kind of hint at that his new partner is Isla with a new OS. There is a possibility that this OS system is an upgraded version from the last, which has the capabilities of retaining the memories from the past. There are very subtle hints that could very well be the case since the “new” Isla is wearing a slightly different work uniform, the retrieval process was different and the fact that Tsukasa was away for 9 months. If you recall the reason he got hired in the first place was due to his father’s connections. These connections may have led to Isla being reprogrammed with this new prototype OS which took 9 months; hence Tsukasa 9 month absence was due to some sort of involvement. The return of Isla memories probably takes some time so return, hence Tsukasa not over reacting to seeing the “new” Isla since he wants to take things slow. The new premise of the new season would be their journey to rekindle their love.

What a tearjerker. But definitely they want to make second season.

And i think that people are focusing on a wrong thing. They shouldnt be focusing on a new partner, instead they should be focusing on his 9 months training which was for sure something about giftias and their souls, I can bet.

Anyway the feels were real so i would guess it is 7-8/10 for me.

I really loved this ending... where you somehow have sadness and happiness combined at the same time... simply my favorite type of endings.

now i think i get what's the real message from this series, these gifftia have limited life span and they know when it's time for them to say goodbye so they try to live their live to the fullest until the last moment (Isla's a good example now)... but are humans really that different?... sure they don't know when but all of us know that they will die someday... so the little message is to live everyday of your life to the fullest too.

with the last scene i think there maybe is a possibility for airing a second season... if that would happen i'll be looking forward to it.

my rate for this episode 4.5/5.

“I hope one day, you’ll be reunited with the one you cherish” -Isla

Amid the post credits scene where it is “assumed” that Tsukasa is partnered with Isla again (sans memories), the ending and this show will haunt me for a very long time. However, though I am deeply saddened by Isla getting “retrieved”, I am happy that she “died” on her own terms; happy, at peace, and most importantly, with the one she loves. She wasn’t afraid and came to accept the inevitable, down to the closing curtain. A complete contrast to her being despondent and crying in the opening of episode 1, as she stared at the same ferris-wheel at a distance, possibly pondering about the final moments of her fate when that dreaded retrieval day came.

But now she can go to her grave with a smile on her face, holding on to the plastic memories that she made through all those years, and specially the cherished ones she made in the last month of her life. And though the Isla that we got to know in 13 episodes is gone, her legacy will live on through her diary and in the hearts, minds, and memories of the humans she left behind.

Oh, and I have some advice for Tsukasa. Don’t fall in love with a Giftia ever again (even if she looks like Isla!) Go for the firey red-head Michiru . You now both have something in common; a traumatic experience with Giftias in your life. She's good looking, a great cook, and probably amazing in bed! Remember Tsukasa -NO MORE FALLING IN LOVE WITH GIFTIAS! EVER!!!

Okay, what a bittersweet ending. But yes, i have to agree to the somehow wasted potential and stuffs in this anime. It felt like they developed the sub-plot (which is the romance imo) than the main plot (the terminal service system, its world and the other characters)

But overall, 7/10, cute moments.

Ever since the start of this series, it was obvious that Isla being retrieved was going to be how this series ended. I knew it was coming, but it was still such a touching ending.
The farewell wasn't dragged out too long, there wasn't any deus ex machina bullcrap that defied the boundaries set by the anime, and I felt that every episode was used to show Tsukasa and Isla's relationship growing closer together.

The part after the credits, it could be Isla again, but at the same time, it was left vague enough so that it could be a completely new person. Just there to show a new beginning I guess.

I want to write a review, but I don't think I can do this anime justice. So, I'll just say that it was a sweet goodbye story.

R.I.P. my heart. It was coming from a mile away but when it finally arrived it was a full on collision course with heartbreak like a truck slamming into a wall at full speed.

Based on the premise, this was definitely not what I was expecting. Nevertheless, it was wonderful and absolutely beautiful. Watching Tsukasa and Isla's relationship grow was a real treat and I haven't felt so strongly about a couple in a long time as I did towards the first half of this episode. There was always a melancholic atmosphere lingering over this show as the inevitable continued to draw closer. These types of stories always leave profound impressions on me about how even though we don't have set expiration dates, we never know when our time will come and should cherish every day and every moment to the fullest. That it's better to make memories that will one day fade away than to reject making them at all.

I don't think the new partner was Isla or had anything to do with her. I think that it was meant to show that despite the pain that comes with that job, he will continue to make memories with future giftias and won't turn away from everything that comes along with it.

9/10, I was a complete sucker for the feels and everything about this episode was perfect.

Throughout the series, Plastic Memories raised a plethora of questions: Given the technological advancement of the giftias, why do they become violent after nine years--and why nine years? Is SAI Corp what is claims to be? Is it possible for giftias to regain their memories, as Tsukasa suggested?

In the end, Plastic Memories turned out to be exactly the straightforward tragedy it promised to be from the beginning. All these hints at a larger backstory ultimately feel superfluous now that we know this was mainly a story about Tsukasa and Isla--and not so much a story about the world around them. Since we now know that the story was a romantic tragedy, it seems its meanderings into all kinds of unrelated narrative and thematic territory ultimately served to drive it away from the relationship between Tsukasa and Isla.

That said, the story managed to remain focused enough that it would be hard to imagine anyone not being emotionally invested by the show's end. Combined with a strong supporting cast, a unique visual flare, and an immersive setting, Plastic Memories remains one of the better anime series in recent memory.

Well I have 2 possible endings since I watched this anime
the 1st one already happened Ep.13

the 2nd one that one day her memories will return
because why Isla wrote that diary except she said about the work she did
My theory is that her diary is some sort of Memory Backup, is not high tech but effective way to remember things you forgotten example "One Week Friend" anime

and lastly anything is Possible in the anime world, is not proven or evidence that giftias returned their memory in the certain episode
but if they do that could be anime miracle that Isla returned her memories back

and no sense to have another season since all the goals and story were answered
unless different cast and like after 10 years or so

"I hope that one day you will be reunited with the one you cherish."

Can't get that out of my head considering the line was emphasized and used multiple times in the last few episodes. Hoping and expecting a OVA to bring those words to life. After all, it's definitely possible considering androids' memories are most likely stored somewhere concrete and not intangible like for humans.

Perhaps the producers left out the face of Tsukasa's new partner because they're deciding on whether to make an OVA or not. With an OVA, it would make sense for the partner to be Isla (without her memories).

That was a 4/10 for me which is so disappointing since after the first episode I was positive this would be the anime of the season. It had so much potential to be a smart introspective sci-fi and squandered all of it to be a cutesy, paint by numbers rom-com.

Well we knew it was coming, but they actually went all the way! I thought she would be revived or have different memories or what have you, but no they actually killed her, and let that be the final ending. It makes more sense in the long run, but still...The episode was cute, and that retrieval scene was precious, plus we got a kiss, which I would have liked to see more of, but still....

Anyway the series gets a 9/10 from me for being what it is, although I wish it could have gone into the more robotic aspects of the society and the Giftia, but it never meant to be that kind of series. I'm definitely going to miss Isla though...
