Recently I decided to do my yearly rewatch of Gurren Lagann, which has for the longest time been my favorite anime. It all started with me trying to watch Toonami, since I like the idea of live-chatting about the block as it airs. But after TTGL aired an episode, I couldn't contain myself and pulled out my PS3 and TTGL DVDs and started rewatching from the time skip.

The problem is, is that after watching a few episodes I found myself extremely excited and gushing over how much I loved the show. It gives me feelings and excitement that no other show is able to give me. Chills come to me after every major episode cliffhanger as I take in everything that had just happened. I felt the need to start gushing over it. I was pacing back and forth talking to myself about what I loved about it after I got finished watching some episodes.

I can't stand that antsy feeling of wanting to talk about something and knowing that there's no one to talk to or no one that wants to listen. Its a feeling a genuine love, the ability to care so deeply and get so much feeling out of something. I know its a greater care than for other shows because there are so many things I like that don't come close to these sorts of feelings. While TTGL isn't the only thing I feel this way over, its a rare oddity for me to feel this way about something. And so I have to ask, does anyone else do this? Is there any particular non-living being that any of you enjoy, love, and cherish as if its a part of you? Something you love and could never dislike or get bored of no matter what and can find getting chills/breaking out into tears while using/watching/participating in etc? It doesn't have to be an anime; just anything. And how do you deal with those feelings of wanting to share it with others, or how do you deal with that desire for other people to feel the same feelings about something you yourself do over that thing you love? How do you express your deep adoration over whatever nonliving entity it is you deeply cherish?

Or do you not have anything at all you really love and deeply care about (nonliving only)?

I know what you're talking about. I get that feeling when I just finished watching a great anime and I have nobody to talk to who's also seen it.

The good news is is that there's always someone, somewhere on the internet who's seen and likes what you have.

I don't know that feeling. I don't get that passionate over things I enjoy.

Gushing over something you love is fine.

It's natural to like something, even if it is obsessive or excessive

Oh good. I was worried that my desire (and somewhat acted upon) wish to import hundreds of dollars worth Solatorobo artbooks and goodies from Japan was a sign that I had a problem.

Yeah, happens to me a lot. Especially when it's something that no one cares about anymore (or no one ever cared about). ;_;
I usually talk to my mom about my animu feelings unless it's like porn or something.
She's probably annoyed, because I can go on and on and on about ANY subject.

I love that giddy feeling, it's so rare though.
I don't however feel the need to share it with anybody else, it's just for me.

Ah. Its just that if I gain great amounts of joy out of watching something I tend to want others to feel those same feelings, which can often be frustrating when that's simply something that can't and won't be replicated.

Does your mom watch anime? Or is she just someone you go to to talk when you feel the need to?

She's watched Death Note, a lot of AMVs, some Kanon, and some Gall Force, but she's not really an anime person. She goes with me to anime cons for my safety, so she's been exposed to anime a lot.
So in other words, I talk to her just because I can-- and anime is usually brought up as an example. Like when asked by her what makes me consider becoming a donor, I'll bring up Angel Beats or something and finally be able to rant about that.

Ehhh if my friends haven't watched the series yet, I'd recommend it to them。If that isn't enough, I'd go to forums, communities, or sites just to talk about it。If there aren't really anybody else, I'd blog about it。

I get this quite a lot. I don't have any friends who share the same music interests as me.
