A note about what is going on in the series (new plot twists, characters, fights) is fine but if it only applies to the most recent chapter (especially if it is spoiler heavy), just discuss it the respective Manga board. Try to keep the fighting to a minimum, you can't prove something's worth by belittling another. | That won't stop them. Majority rules. If some moron thinks a show is just a shonen based off the magazine without using logic, then there is no stopping him. And since many people believe that already (because intelligence doesn't go well with quantity of people who possess it), even more people will continue to. |

| Well, No need to make things even more complicated than it is. Basically, Shounen IS not a genre, it is a demographic (target audience). Anything that published in Shounen Magazine is a Shounen Manga. Any adaptation of a Shounen Manga is called Shounen Anime. Content is irrelevant to determine whether a series is a Shounen or Seinen, the publisher/adaptation is what count. I know there's a lot of debate about "content is irrelevant to determine Shounen and Seinen" BUT let's just stick with this to make things easier and refrain from pointless debate about "a series is not a shounen because it is darker". |

| What seems to be too complicated for you is common sense. Your claim in itself makes no sense and you did nothing to back it up. Seinen is a demographic? A- Berserk B- K-on Completely different content Your argument: well people of the same demographic might have different tastes, some may like mature content, some like childish content. - But that renders the idea of demographic absolutely pointless. If it's supposed to refer people to a shows of certain content, then it should have consistent aspects to identify with. If some 18+ year old likes less than 18 year old content, he should watch shonen, not label the stuff he watches "seinen that is more like shonen but we'll call it seinen because some 18+ year old watches it". Fact: Mature content differs greatly in the same demographic, so much so, that a seinen may seem more childish than the average shonen, and a certain shonen may have more adult content parallel to that of the average seinen. Conclusion, as demographics these words do little to distinguish anime and are useless. In fact, you all agree with this view subconsiously whether you admit it or not. You all ask for "shonen similar to one piece" because of "action/certain event/type of character", and not "I need anoter under18 shonen anime" |

Yeah,But it started out as you pretty much waking up one day and claiming HxH is'nt a shonen Or if I remember correctly it was something along the lines of "I do'nt watch shonen and my favourite anime are'nt shonen" (I do'nt remember,but it was something like that) Yes that's what I referred to in my second line. HxH is indeed not a shonen, as characteristics of the shonen genre do not apply to it, and hxh includes genres beyond those which are within the shonen spectrum. We've been over this. As predetermined demographics, shonen and seinen hold no value to begin with. |
