| So I think harems have to get the most undeserved hate of all genres in anime just because how often people will just flat out say they dislike harems. I mean what is a harem. I don't know about you, but the only image that comes to my mind involves a large red chair and the mc sitting with a stylish pose with at least one women per appendage. And sure watching that move around a screen wouldn't exactly be interesting. Well you never know. But then you hear some people: $$$$$ said: i dislike harems unless they are like ZnT where the female mc is clear. Soooo he is no good with harems but if the MC has multiple friends with benefits it is alright? There has to be some: "oh god what will people think of me if I say I like harems" Going on here. So now that I got to have fun writing crazy random fluff on my post, I swear 90% of people who say that they don't like harems says so because of the 3 following reasons: 1) they don't want to be that guy that is into harems. 2) they want the relationship between the 2 main characters to get 'deeper', in other words they wanna set some kisses, maybe some suggestive bedroom scenes, which in the end is a bit more perverted than thinking harems are cool. I mean which makes you think more of a pervert that guy in the chair with girls on every appendage or someone peering in from behind the camera on that couple getting their hots on under the blankets? Thoughts? EDIT: I forgot to write the 3rd reason. 3) There is nothing interesting about a harem if you aren't a man interested in women. |

| Most harem shows are there only to serve the fact that there is a harem in this show, regardless how boring and shitty the show really is, and in most cases you never get anything out of it, just sub-plots that serve no real purpose. |

| Oh wow another OP that makes it look like every heterosexual male has to be immediately interested in anything that remotely revolves around tits, asses and random women throwing themselves at the MC, no matter the context. Simply because it's the manly thing to do. Men must always prioritize a focus on heterosexual fanservice over the more trivial aspects like story, characters or premise, if they don't want to be seen as gay (and obviously any heterosexual male must be extremely scared of being viewed as gay since otherwise they are already gay). Instead of what the OP said: 1) they don't want to be that guy that is into harems. I might as well say 90% of the people who like harems do it because they don't want to be that guy who is not interested in something related to heterosexual relations/fanservice, because they think it makes them gay if they don't spend 90% of their brain capacity thinking about WOMEN, TITS and SEX all the time. Since, you know, apparently you can only REALLY dislike harems when you're not a man who's interested in women. Because if you were, your priority in every context, every single aspect of your life would automatically be to look out for tits etc.. so it would be unnatural not to enjoy harems, no matter the quality, characters or really any form of context. | I'll like a harem so long as it's well written and executed well. I can't think of any off the top of my head. A lot of people like Nisekoi, but... that series is getting milked hard and the writing has been bad for a long time now. But opening door -> seeing girl naked -> both stand there awkwardly for like 10 seconds before an action is taken is dumb. Stuff like reaching out / accidental boob grab, falling over each other, accidental boob grab, face in crotch etc... that stuff is tired and lazy and stupid and harems are full of it. The laziness in to create said situations is down right awful. Sometimes, the situation works and is funny, but I've literally seen it with 2 people both walking down a straight street one going ---------> <------------- and NEITHER person sees the other and they fall on top of each other? Really? People are correct in that it's usually cliche and boring. And it is REALLY cringe worthy when they try to make some half-assed plot out of the harem. I.e. Asu no Yoichi / Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!? / w/e the hell else is like that. Also, if guys were really that into porn we'd use it for hours a day instead of like 5-10 min a day to clean the pipes. And I don't think I know any guys who watch porn all day in their spare time. |
