Extremely proud of that performance. Glad we ruined LVG's little party, never have liked Man United. Wonder if Scholes (or lots of pundits for that matter) still think we're going to get relegated...

Fun fact: we've acquired more points against top 8 teams this season after only playing one game than we did the whole of last season. The belief is back.

Nah Swansea has a very strong squad and today's match shows they play very well. I predict they will finish somewhere between 7th and 13th

More than you can say for West Hoof. The ref gifted them a penalty and 40 minutes of 11 to 10, no dice.

Well most football followers I see on internet are from middle east, India, or South Asia so only top teams receive attention. Let's face it, apart from EPL, La Liga, Serie A, and Bundesliga every football leagues are extremely underhyped (on the internet anyways). Hell, even midtable clubs in the leagues I mentioned barely get mentioned

Yup, great start for Wednesday. Not so great for the Huddersfield fan in here though.

One good thing about the Champs is the rate at games come during the first part of the season. Pretty much Saturday - Tuesday every week for the first few months. Blackburn at home for us next and then the first Derby in a long time.

Suddenly Sky Sports News saying that we're about to sell Fer to QPR for £8m (with a nice sell on % I would hope) and Andrew Surman to Bournemouth. Surman one is a bit strange considering Adams seemed to like him, I guess the player wanted out and the club didn't want to lose him on a free next summer.

Christ you can say that again. By all accounts it wasn't as much of a car crash of a performance as last week against a good Cardiff side today, and we had 2 first team defenders out (Gerrard and Peltier) who hopefully are going to be back for Reading away on Tuesday, and we have to rather poor Jon Stead up front who I hope we replace soon or at least put someone else up front. Those are my excuses for this week lol. We're usually the sort of team that starts off really well and then steadily goes downhill over the season, we might be going for the opposite approach this time or at least I hope so.

It's hardly rare for a football fan in the UK, but I was actually surprised there were a few championship team supporters on here, being able to talk about championship in general on an anime forum seems odd but is pretty cool nontheless. I mainly pay attention to championship stuff that goes on but its sort of hard not to follow Premier League football anyway with how much it gets talked about. I do like watching Match of the Day and live PL games as a total neutral with nothing to stress about which is great because it's stressful supporting Huddersfield sometimes haha.

Speaking of Match of the Day, first one of the season on now. Should be a good 'un.

Edit: good to see that vanishing spunk canister stuff being used for the first time lot of games, very useful. Shame it's only being used in the PL, I doubt it's that expensive to get but I could be wrong..

Van Gaals fault for not putting a play maker like kagawa when he had to plus Mata was sheet, Rooney almost had the second equalizer on the sick free kick bend that had the goalkicker smash into the post (ref was seriously pissing me off this game! bad time management & calls).... Arsenal got lucky Ramsey hit the put back in last minute! if only CP wasted time on the subs plus bad calls this game too ref carded PUNCHEON off(2nd yellow) and didnt card arsenal player who did the same tackle 3 times!
Most disappointing game i saw was the Everton match... Martinez is once horrible manager, his players are huffing & puffing 2nd half everyone clearly sees it plus , Leicester City takes advantage to get equalizer, McCarthy hurts knee, shakes it off but hurt no sub... I was really hoping to see Besic & Atsu(my EFL was butthurt) come in give some firepower but no.... After listening to Martinez postgame interview, I wish a fan would have thrown a pile of crap in his mouth

Before the Swansea match: Van Gaal is a tactical genius!
After the Swansea match: He got his tactics wrong!

Right after signing Mata last January: He'll bring ManU back to greater heights!
After the Swansea match: What a waste.

LOL they've been time-wasting ever since the first half already. And Ramsey scored the winner in stoppage time too...so whose "fault" was it that stoppage time was 5 minutes...? Exactly.

rafi160 said:

The only "bad calls" the ref made were two penalty shouts for Arsenal, and an obvious handball for Chamakh - it might be a pen too, but more likely a free-kick at the edge of the box. To be honest Chamakh deserves the red card more than Puncheon, he's been literally all over the place all throughout the game. It's a wonder why he can't be that hardworking when he was with Arsenal, it's a miracle too he wasn't even sent off to begin with...

Well I'm still deciding whether or not to post it, but I'll post this anyway. Your view on the Arsenal match was actually summed up perfectly by my earlier post already, and I have a feeling you're a decade younger than me. Oh well, at least you're not a RAWK initiate or a Glory-Glory denizen, but if my conclusion that you are a Man Utd fan is correct, it's not much...consolation.

Quite surprisingly, it seems as if Southampton isn't exploding even after all that selling. As for us, Johnson was useless as usual. Why does he even play for us anymore? Whenever he's on, we're practically playing with one man less. I'd have removed Lucas from the starting line-up as well, if it were me. He's been pretty shit ever since his injury during Kenny's run.

I wouldn't call it surprising. With players like Schneiderlin, Wanyama, Tadic and Jay Rod they are leagues above some of the dross in the league. I was more surprised at how poor Liverpool were after scoring their first goal. They were exposed at the back and a better team would've converted more of the many chances that Southampton created.

Reason behind Bassong being frozen out seems to have come out. When Adams walked in after being put in charge he asked ''are we supposed to know who you are?'' in front of the rest of the squad. Considering he hasn't been throwing his toys out of the pram all summer (something he has a history of) and his Twitter has gone dead I think this could well be the truth. In an interview last season he said that Hughton was like a father to him so it is certainly likely that he was upset at the time. It sure backs up my thoughts that he was a terrible choice for captain though, immature and unprofessional.

If it did play out like this I sure hope Adams pointed out that he has won a top division title and gotten to a league cup final whereas Bassong has been relegated at all but 1 of his clubs.

Does seem like something that could be sorted out with an apology though if the player wanted to stay a part of the team. As a rare left footed, fast and potentially great central defender I can't help but want him to stick around.

Regarding the sale of Pilkington McNally has said that he thinks getting 2 million for him is the best bit of negotiating he has ever done. Pilks missed 119 days of training last season with 6 different injuries and he had a single year left on his contract. If both of those numbers are true then I would agree....even if he was negotiating with Vincent Tan.

Final bit of info to come from one of our legendary 'itk' fans is that Carlos Cuéllar is pretty likely to be on his way here. We need a CB and I'm sure he has a couple of decent years left in the tank, especially at this level. Would be happy with this.

Norwood is one of many Man Utd's talent "prospects" that never really was. In short, he's one of those stupidly temperamental players who can blast a 50 yard pass absolutely nailed on accurate, and then the next minute he'l misplace several 5 yard passes and give away possession. He's a decent set piece taker (corners and free kicks, penalties not so much) and can score the odd screamer from playing deep in midfield (see video). Been massively inconsistent and frustrating for us though, he seems like one of those players who has the talent but doesn't show it all the time. I think he might be better around better players though. He has a superb injury record; played roughly 40 games in both full seasons he's been here which really will help his development.

He was generally playing well up until he played in a international game against Portugal for Northern Ireland, playing defensive midfield he was up against Ronaldo of all players. He played very well against him, pretty much restricting him of the chances he'd normally get. He put in a pretty amazing shift when you consider he was playing for Huddersfield as a first choice midfielder and Ronaldo is one of the best players on the planet.

He was mostly shit for the rest of the season after that. Knowing our luck, whoever signs him (Norwich and Reading both linked apparently) will probably end up getting the best out of him. Wouldn't be the first time a player has been disappointing for us and brilliant somewhere else. Prime example Scott Arfield at Burnley.

Edit: ROFL. Speaking of Scott Arfield..

As it stands he would be competing for a position in the team with Tettey, Johnson, O'Neil, Howson, Hoolahan and possibly but not probably Fer and Surman. He would be a replacement for one or both of those last two I think. Competing with them might force him into consistency, like it did with Danny Drinkwater and plenty of others.

That being said haven't you improved your midfield quite a bit this summer? I know for a fact Butterfield is a good player (Hughton didn't like him because he tried forward passes in training) and supposedly Conor Coady is really good. That sort of competition could have perhaps got the best out of him.

Looks like you need a defender though and the Norwood money would probably finance that. Even if you are losing a decent player it could be for the best.

Looks like our IN THE KNOW dude was right about Carlos Cuellar. Turner, Martin, Bennett and Cuellar.....the fact that our best defender Bennett is probably now 4th choice and there is no pace there whatsoever is slightly alarming. If we were keeping Bassong and Martin was pushed back out to right back it would work but I dunno, I hope Adams knows what he's doing.

Also a rumour that Cameron Jerome will be joining us. Well, I suppose a Championship club should expect Championship signings. Hooper, Lafferty, Grabban, Jerome and Loza is certainly a more well rounded frint line than what we had last season.

According to a few sources he's on his way to Reading anyway, having a medical tomorrow. I think he'd have been good backup as a replacement for those two that you mentioned but I can't see him getting in the first team with the likes of Hoolahan and Johnson there. And yeah we have made almost all of our signings in the midfield area, could really do with a centre half at least.

Also, we won a game!!!! :OO

Snodgrass out for up to six weeks months. I think I've said it already, but I can see Hull struggling this year with the extra Europa League games and lack of a replacement for Shane Long.

In other news, Fernandez is set to be unveiled today and we've also had a bid for Stambouli accepted (although it's believed he would prefer a move to Fiorentina who have also expressed interest).

Cringe at the thought of a dislocated kneecap. Absolutely horrible for Snoddy.

There have actually been a few rumours resurfacing that Hooper might be on his way out. If the guy can manage 8 goals under Hughton then he can undoubtedly play in the Premier League. Could be an option for Hull if they want to give us another 7 or 8 million. Would rather that than the team he's actually been linked to.....QPfuckingR.

Edit - Looking at Twitter apparently Hull rumours are flying around. Makes sense.

If Jerome is Hooper's replacement I might have to murder someone.

So the signings of Cuéllar and Jerome have been completed as expected. Fer has also gone to QPR.

Lots of physical presence and work rate through our gates this summer.
