GANTZ --> shocking:



Hentai

Nightshift Nurses --> shocking AND depressing:

Every scene makes you want to curl up in a corner and burst into tears at how depraved the sex scenes were. It makes you depressed to think someone in the world has these fetishes.

I'm sure there are more...

The ending in School Days for sure, that was shocking as hell and changed my rating up one point just for that. And pretty much the whole of Higurashi was a giant mindfuck...in a good way!!

There's a lot more that have affected me in a shocked or derpressed way but those were the ones that stuck out just then.

In Elfen Lied when Lucy was young and those guys beat her dog to death... oh god.. i hated that.... but she killed them brutally so everything was ooookay :D

The whole series of Saikano was really depressing, every episode got sadder and sadder.

Elfen Lied was pretty shocking all around too, just so many scenes of brutality...

Also the end of Revolutionary Girl Utena could be considered both shocking and depressing.

Once things start unfolding in Gankutsuou it gets pretty shocking, that is if you hadn't read the novel.

Debatable


All sorts of debatable. Firstly, the new Evangelion movies may or may not be remakes (because of the horribly confusing nature of instrumentality), just like everything other than the first and last five minutes of the series may or may not be real. And

Yay for Evangelion.
