| So,if ur a Mal user,most likely u heard or been called a hater.Now, what exactly that means? In the internet, if u disagree with someone, u're a hater. If u tries to make a point, u're a hater. If u slightly dislike or point ou negative points about someone's favorite anime, u're a hater. Everybody at least once, used the word "hater", Even myself,that believe everybody is entitled to their own opinion, used that word countless times, be it to end a discussion,or to hurt someone, without even bothering to try and understand other's point of view. So i want to now, What defines a hater to you? Is it the guy that is always harshly replying to ur posts? Is it the fanboy that puts down other series to make himself feel good? Is it that guy that is soo passionate with his replies, that he wrotes a wall of text,filled with ur favorites' flaws,plotholes, etc? Is it the wannabe elitist, that rates everything with a 5? Now, discuss, people! cuz i'd already exhausted my brain cells writting this P.S: Sorry for my bad English, i hope everything still is understandable |

| The way I see it, if we are talking about anime here. A hater is someone, who doesn't like or dislike an anime, but keep watching for the sake of bashing it, and nothing else, this is especially apparent in long running anime, most popular examples being ''battle shounens''. So he doesn't like this anime from early on, but keeps watching hundreds of episodes, just to bash it, and because it's popular. Or. Someone who knows what kind of anime he dislikes, but keeps watching them, to be able, to feel superior to those who do like them. Plenty of examples for these two types of people in MAL. |

| In the past I used to be irked when people would say 'Haters gonna hate', to me it was a poor substitute for an actual reply or retort against a criticism. I tend to view the term hater as a response to a person who is expressing a strong dislike towards some entity for no discernible reason. This is not synonymous with the term critical. Nowadays I don't think too much of it, and from what I've seen the usage of the word has decreased from 4-5 years ago. Though maybe I'm not looking at the right places. |

| The way I see it, those calling another a "Hater" would be for a variety of reasons. I would call a person a "Hater" if he acts very negative against a certain thing that I like. Yes, I respect their opinion but, of course, I would be bothered if that person keeps acting harshly against it. |

| For me, the definition for "hater" is someone who hates everything that you say and do. Someone that likes the things that you hate and hates the things that you like. The previous replies above are agreeable too. :) |
