Oh Nagisa, you really think that the villains will just let you go back to your game? Those buff girls were total <333 though

Weird guy at the beginning and end. That scream was kinda creepy. And a new heartiel, a very randomly new heartiel. I was hoping it was new since I couldn't for the life of me figure out who it was.

This episode prompted me to make a post elsewhere:

I've been thinking, if the teamwork aspects of World Trigger are as good as I've heard and the story is at least serviceable then I'll probably end up liking it. Although battle shounen tends to emphasize stuff like the importance of friendship and teamwork, it seems like in the actual battles that rarely plays out as a factor that feels both important and genuine. The strength of certain characters tends to inflate their importance and overshadow that of weaker characters even if the weaker ones are technically contributing in some way.

Mahou shoujo doesn't tend to have that issue based on what I've seen so far. Although its not necessarily as emphasized against most monsters of the week (which are somewhat analogous to riff-raff opponents in battle shounen), whenever there's a team battle against a major antagonist or a group of major antagonists it really feels like a team effort, even when one member of the protagonist's team is stronger/weaker than the others in their team. It gives those fights an additional layer of satisfaction on top of whatever other merits they may have (such as good choreography, animation, cinematography, etc.) that battle shounen fights often do not have.

The team fight in this episode was great stuff, and it's apparently something the Precure franchise in particular has been consistently good at since the very beginning since every other Precure I've watched to date has sported good examples like this as well.

Great episode.

Surrounded by Zakenna, Nagisa punches the ground so hard it crumbled, clearing a path to the main bosses. Out of context, I would have thought this scene was from a Shounen action show. This is particularly true right before the girls transformed, where Nagisa was angrily about to charge at the main bosses while Honoka and Hikari were holding her back. That was a really great fight all around.

I will say though, I'm noticing that Nagisa has been getting a lot of attention in Max Heart, and it has only continued to increase over the course of the series. She's also been given a lot of the best lines and scenes, and due to Kiriya's absence, Nagisa is also the only one with a romance subplot. I guess it's because there's more story telling possibilities with a stubborn, gluttonous, book dumb, sporty, earnest, fist-fighting fiery main character? At least opposed to Honoka, who is more level headed and relies more on throws and reversals, and Hikari who hasn't really been given much to work with overall. I mean, Nagisa even has that "arienai" bit that she says every episode.

Throughout this season, it's really been Nagisa and Honoka hoarding screentime and story presence, though Hikari steps in at times to try and maintain relevance. Hikari seems to exist as a sort of battery in battle, or a third party source of reactions in daily live. She apparently has plot relevance due to her connections with the Queen, but she just hasn't contributed as much as I'd like her to.

The lacrosse team that Verone went up against was really strong, but Verone used a different tactic in the second half, and it worked.

Three Dark Zone enemies at once still couldn't defeat Pretty Cure and Shiny Luminous, but Baldez has been resurrected! They defeated him once, but is he more powerful this time?

That was the scream of someone who got nuked full force and just barely regenerated enough to begin processing that.

That was such a good battle! Hikari always feels a bit like an accessory when they are fighting villains, but this time she used her 'weapon' and held her ground! The teamwork and combined powers were wonderful.

Love Hikari being a mommy to Pollun and Lulun as well, and them mimicking her when trying the keep the Heartiels quiet haha.

Really liked the art and animation in this episode as well. Overall one of my favorites of the season!
