| You can't say "women are not funny" because there are funny women out there. Just because the ones you've seen aren't funny doesn't mean all of them aren't. Though I get what you're saying, I do find that I like male comedians and prankers more most of the time. But I have seen girls that are just as good/funny. |

| I thought this might have had something to do with Christopher Hitchens controversially mentioning this a number of years ago. I remember him saying that men evolved to be funny because otherwise they can't get laid. On the other hand, women just need to be women. Being attractive helps, but it's a fact that men are so much more desperate. |

| When it comes to gender/sex it's all about double standards. When males joke about sex, the first thing people think of is the joke itself, not the one who's saying the joke. When females joke about sex, because many people simply aren't used to such a concept, funny isn't usually the first thing that comes to mind. Considering the topic of sex is a huge potential in the comedic area, this social expectation curb the favor to men, I find. I have to say though, in many comedies I've seen, I do find myself laughing less in general when a woman makes fun of something than a man do. It might be socially programmed in my mind already that I assume men are in general, more funny, and react accordingly. Just thinking of comedy actors out there in Hollywood, and I can name probably a dozen and more male actors, but female actors are maybe like, 3? Half a dozen? It might be a new thing that women are only starting to come into the comedy sector, I do not know, but there is definitely a disparity still. |
