| So I finally watched this with subs. First of all, I'm really glad they used the game's OST, there are some magnificent scores in there. I'm pretty satisfied with the animation too, they even tried to recreate the water painting effect. I'm still gonna need some time to adapt to the character design though, especially Isara's eyes. Now I see they've also respected the game's naiveness. Yes in Valkyria Chronicles, people talk about bread while killing other people. But that's not where the game's and this show's strength lies . It's more about how the characters' story and personality are so touching and distinctive that you really don't want anyone to die. This feeling will probably be harder to recreate by the anime. This show has a lot of potential so I hope they'll do things right and I'll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the game. japanme32 said: Confused...Gallia=France? Germany=Darns? | This show definitely looks promising and I loved the animation style. Am I the only one o thinks the patrol uniform looks stupid? And Galia seems more like Netherlands than France Anyone who played the game can tell me what a Darcsen is? I got quite curious about it |

| Played the game and I have to say that I liked this first episode. Especially Alicias facial expressions were great. |

| I haven't played the game so I guess I am one of those people who can't relate with the discussion. However, I really like Alicia's character. I don't find the first episode bad though. However, I'm not that "hyped" as compared to the other series premiered this April. I guess I'll stick around for more episodes. |

| Great animation, but seems a little childish to me. They're in a pretty grim situation, and there's a war going on, but everyone seems so carefree. But seems promising though. I like the character interaction going on. |

| i haven't played this game, but i really liked the episode a lot. characters are likeable, the art is unique, the story seems interesting, and there's not too many made up words, which is all too common in RPGs... alicia's definitely gonna become a fave of mine. although it was hard to take her seriously as a soldier, considering she strayed from her command to chase Gunther, and flip-flopped on whether she trusted him or not, like 3 different times during the episode. |

| This is pretty fun so far. I really like the animation and character design. It really does feel like a game. The opening was awesome as well. |
| Started out a little slow, but picked up about halfway through. Marina Inoue saved it, though...she really brings out a character thankfully. I already like Alicia. ^^ |

| At first, I'd think that game adaptations were crap but this was good. Loved the art and the characters. For some reason Welkin reminds me of Fan Hyulick from Tytania. |

| Nothing shocking, but a solid start it seems. Solid character and setting introductions (could use a political map though). Given that it's a 26ep series they don't need to start too fast, and the opening pace is just right IMHO. The OST is ridiculously good, no wonder why the game won that award. The game for this is one of those games that makes me want to buy a PS3 just for it. As for the tacticians, Maximillian is nowhere close to Lulu from what I've heard of the game. Heck if he's anywhere as close to the genius of the German Marshals this setting is trying to parallel our heroes won't survive past ep2. |

The show is not supposed to be a nightmare about war's terror; it has a very bubbly theme. The game is very awesome, I'm replaying through it at the moment. :) About Maximillian. Well. There's a bit more to his battle plan, including smart allies and a trump card. For everybody not sure if the start was solid: relax! The anime just can't be exactly like the game.. it wouldn't work. And the start may have seemed too slow, or not serious enough, etc... but they had to lay down the basic premise, and give the characters an introduction. |

| so far i'm liking this. its always nice to have a period type piece since they seem to be a little rare these days. the art is pretty good, and the integration of the CG is done pretty well. |
